Game Day — Stairway to Cleveland

For you Jefferson Starship fans: fuck you, we do what we want . . . On paper this should be a fairly easy go of things. On the field as well. Although these things rarely go as planned. Still a bit amazed how fast expectations have changed for this team. The demoralizing come from ahead loss to Dallas was followed by an eked out win on the road in Cincy. Week 4 was supposed to be the reality check for this team. Keep close, play tough, but in the end, get overwhelmed by the superior talent in Philly. Then Tampa, the west coast killers, and on to undefeated Detroit. These were all supposed to be teams that were better, stronger, and more prepared than the 49ers. Guaranteed lock wins when their fans looked at their respective schedules. Well, things didn’t work out that way for those guys.

Cleveland? Don’t know jack about them, other than Mike Holmgren is their GM. A job he failed at miserably in Seattle. Their biggest threat, Peyton Hillis is out, and Colt McCoy is a decent enough QB, I guess.Again, haven’t seen him at all. Their defense is ranked pretty high. But 2 of their 3 wins came at the hands of 2 winless teams, mail it Indy, and the Dullfins. So, this probably won’t be a blowout, but I don’t think it’ll be that close in the end.  Somewhere like 24-10.

Beyond that, we’ll have the Philly/Cowboy game on Sunday night.  Lots of interesting stories there. Dog killer vs Promo. America’s team vs the Broad St bullies. The Dream Team vs the scream team. Maybe Romo chokes under the bright lights on prime time football again. Vick has put up astounding numbers in his 4 losses. Should be another fun game. These guys usually have some crazy shit go on. Joe Pisarchik anyone?

    Shit, that didn’t work.

Still and all, great drive from the 6″ line.

Did ya see how the Panthers missed tying up the Vikings as time expired? Olindo Mare missed a chippie 31 yd FG wide left. He decided to dress up as Captain Hook a little early for Halloween. Guess who p/u Mare for his FF team this week?

    Noo-nan!

Nice pictures of the Bay too. Ah, the good old days (2008). But don’t miss the 9ers play back then, retch

Phil, very beautiful day out here in the Bay Area. Unseasonably warm weather and not a cloud in the sky. I started to sweat like a pig walking back from my neighborhood liquor store with beer just before kickoff.

      “You’d think it was a 120 degrees. Can’t be more than a 114.”

I’ll save ya the trouble, that came “Blazing Saddles.”

I’ve watched that movie approx. 340 times. No need to call, the men in the white coats are already on their way…

Nice, Fall in the Bay Area and….a winning football team! Sometimes it can get real hot at that time but it’s almost November. Where’s winter for you guys?

        Blazing Saddles, good one.

GORE. Shit our offense is playing great

Arm down? Still a fucking nice start.

Who said we might shut out the Browns? Flavor? D going great guns too

I don’t know it it’s the sophomore jinx, but McCoy has severely regressed this year.

The OL is giving Alex Scott “Bullshit” all day to throw. Even after he was shot down and drowned his sorrows in $10 tequila shooters at the whorehouse. Chuck could complain, ask why me, and offer to pay double after he was rejected thrice in the same night at his favorite house of ill repute.

As I give them praise for their pass blocking, their run blocking just stunk on ice in that goal line try.

    P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C

And we just lost the challenge. We’re getting our hints from Chuck…

Sopoaga missing his blocks. How bout some play-calling?

      • phil fan's avatar phil fan says:

Gore 89 yards rush in 2nd

      • Del Mar Dennis's avatar Del Mar Dennis says:

Phil, who’s your favorite Niner? Current, not all-time. Hell, you can give me both if ya want. Maybe he’s one in the same. Maybe he’s currently playing. Maybe he’s playing on offense. Maybe he’s playing quarterback.

If you only knew how much I’m chuckling to myself self right now. I’d wager I’m chuckling to myself almost as much as those harlots laugh at Chuck when he propositions them. Almost.

I missed this during the game so I’ll answer now: Ronnie Lott for the all-time defender.
Currently no, not the UQB but I do like Justin Smith a lot.

  9. grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

Smith and Crabs have NO chemistry. Every pass is just a little behind or beyond him, and I don’t think it’s mostly Alex’s fault there.

Nice blitz pickup to get the pass off though.

SLANT to Edwards for 1st down chuck

  11. grumpyguy's avatar grumpyguy says:

I was worried we might come out a little rusty or overconfident, but so far, we look pretty damned solid. Browns had a good goal line stand, but seeing as how they may not score today, it isn’t doing them much good.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

OK, play action now. Criminy, Harbaugh’s getting a little Singish here.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    There you go . . .

Nice. Right where the blitzer came from.

  14. Kevin's avatar Kevin says:

Damn 6-7 years of ineptitude by offensive coordinators trying to teach Alex the NFL. Nice to see the Yorks get it right in hiring Harbaugh and letting him coach this team!!

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Nice artice about Constanza and Seely (ST coach), both from Cleveland in the bee today.

Got to say, the ST improvement this season has been as remarkable as every other phase of the team this year.
