Two Weeks Till Camp . . .

July 25th. Will these dinglers get their shit together and get BA signed? Who knows? Time marches on, but the negotiations are at a crawl? Who knows? BA thinks he’s a Lamborghini, and he certainly is Purdy’s favorite target.

Would love to see this get done before this officially becomes a clusterfuck nightmare after camp gets rolling, but really, is BA gonna hold out for the season? I doubt it but I have no fucking clue. These stupid fucks shoulda gotten this done 6 months ago before the market exploded.

Oh well.

Here We Sit, Broken-Hearted . . .

Waiting for shit to drop. BA is in camp and training, but the negotiations are ongoing. People freak out at every post BA makes via Insta or whatever but it all is worth the ether it is printed on. I still think the deal gets done. Or worst case, he plays on his current deal and we kick the can down the road for next year. I’d rather have him happy and signed, but this goes as all these go. Way too long and way too damaging.

Just want to update the page here.

On a sad note, took my dog to the vet on Monday night because she was having problems breathing and coughing. I thought it was the flipped stomach thing big dogs sometimes get, but it turned out to be a large tumor in her chest that was squeezing all all her organs. She’s 12, but was perfectly fine Monday morning, but by 1:00 am yesterday she was struggling to breathe. The vet recommended putting her down as she said Maggie wouldn’t make it through the night. So fucking sad. She was the sweetest dog.

Long may you run, Maggie.

Well, Back to the Start . . .

. . . back to reality.

Nothing to report for Brandon Aiyuk. Still at an impasse. Stupid shit. Unless BA is looking for stupid money (as in $32 mill), pay the man.

Trade rumors fly, but hey, if we can fleece the Redskins, do it. It would serve him right to go to a shit team and roll to a 6-11 record and watch the playoffs.

Sure I want the guy to stay, but if he feels like he’s not getting his just rewards here, then try your luck elsewhere, BA. Just don;t be disappointed when you are in a terrible situation on a dysfunctional team.

Encouraging News! Will BA Sign? Did They Learn Their Lesson?

According to NFL Media, Monday’s discussion between Brandon Aiyuk and the 49er brass appears to have been productive. It was a “good meeting” and the 49ers plan to move forward with Aiyuk on the roster this season, Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday.

If this does come to pass, then it seems they learned their lesson in getting players signed before the fucking season starts. As we all know, they dillied and dallied with Deebo and Bosa to the detriment of both players and the seasons that followed.

BA and Purdy already have a good thing going, and with an even stronger set of wide receivers this season, getting them all on the practice field together is crucial. I’ve been saying all along this would happen, but I’ll be very glad the sooner it happens.

Shit or Get Off the Pot

Here we go again. BA saying he’s not getting what he’s due. The front office dithering around. The team has $32 mill in cap space. Yet I guess they feel the need to drag this out as long as possible to get everyone frustrated and cranked.

Either trade him and move on, or sign him. You KNOW how this usually works out.

Needless stupidity from the front office.

As the Worm Burns

The 49ers are once again dicking around when they shouldn’t be dicking around. They dithered around too long with both Deebo and Bosa, to the detriment of their following seasons, and now they are dicking around with BA. They would be nigh retarded to not sign him, seeing as he and Purdy have a very good thing going, and the time is right to go for the chip.

The sticking point appears to be the team offering $26 mill per and BA wanting something in the neighborhood of $30 mill. Get him signed at $30 per. The diff in terms of fucking NFL contracts is negligible. Granted, one year of BA is more than I’ll make in my entire life no matter what he signs for, but that’s the story of the game. Billionaires fucking around with mulit-millionaires.

Ooooh, but what about the salary cap, Unca? Fuck the salary cap. After the 2024 season, there will be a LOT of changes. The window is wide open RIGHT NOW. They need to take advantage while the team is relatively young and healthy, and Purdy is on his rookie deal.

Get it done for fuck’s sake.

Run CMC Gets a New Deal – There’s a New TE as Well

The 49ers are busy busy busy trying to keep this offense growing and continuing to flourish by signing CMC to a 2 year extension to the remaining 2 years on his current deal, upping his pay to $19 mill per and keeping him here through the 2027 season. Much more inline with the top RBs in the league, and fitting of a guy who joins Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk as the only guys to get 1,000 rushing and receiving yards in the same season. Plus the 21 TDs. So that is money well spent.

They also signed TE Logan Thomas, a (soon to be) 33 year old vet who has had legit success catching the ball with 94 receptions, 820 yards, and 5 TDs his last 2 seasons.

Wither Aiyuk? Well, the tide is still out on that one. BA has officially missed the start of mandatory mini-camp. And if you think Cee Dee lamb, another no-show to the mandatories, has something to do with BA’s holdout, you are correct.

This’ll likely be a running game of ‘who blinks first’ for their payday, so we all get to watch from the sidelines as these 2 go through the machinations of contract negotiations.

Whooopie! Thing is, for all intents and purposes it looks like we sign BA to an extension and kiss Deebo goodbye after 2024, or we don’t sign BA to an extension, and re-up Deebo after 2024. Since the imerative is to have the team together THIS season, I’d prefer the extension, and then deal with Deebo later, but hey. I’m not a billionaire. Or even Brazillionaire.

Third and Jauan (on) Board

Something happened! Not Brandon Aiyuk yet, but Jauan Jennings signed a 2 year $15.4 mill extension, with $10.5 mill guaranteed. Seeing this happen gives me hope they will wrap up BA fairly quickly.

They HAVE to know that this is their best chance RIGHT NOW to go all the way and take the crown. Mainly because of the impending cash drop for Brock Purdy.

As of now we have no idea what the contract will be, who will stay, who will go, and what the fallout is in the end. So, this team with BA has their best chance of winning it all.

Quiet Days

Hey, the Giants had a couple nice comebacks, but all is quiet in the football world. BA is gonna get signed at some point, hopefully soon enough to not miss too much of minicamp.

We will see.

RIP Jim Otto

Fuck wordpress.

Had a nice post written about Jim Otto, and fucking wordpress lost it.

Mr. Raider, and one of the original Raiders from the 1960 team, he was likely one of the toughest guys to ever play the game based on the 78 surgeries he endured during and after his playing days. He had so many knee operations that they just eventually cut that leg off in 2007. He nearly died 3 times due to infections stemming from joint replacement surgeries, but through it all he was never down or bitter about the pain and suffering the game brought him.

He famously owned a Burger King an Auburn and could often be found working behind the counter and talking to fans as he worked. Met him a couple times on the many ski trips to Tahoe from the Bay Area.

He was 86 and suffering from Alzheimer’s. He died in Placer County, pretty close to that Burger King. Truly a great Hall of Fame player and man.

RIP Jim Otto
