The Do(d)g(er) Days of Summer . . .

. . . for football anyway. Hoping we still try to get O line help, but this team looks to be in better shape than last year given the talent that left the building and the money that went with them. They have shed a lot of contracts desite last year being a rebuild year. Turns out the parity that is so prevalent and the young guys we drafted recently turned out pretty well, and we were amazingly TWO wins from the big prize. And I don’;’t doubt for a second that had we somehow beat Seaettle, NE would have been a walk.

Every year is different, and this year we seem to have done well getting some depth along the D line, linebacker, CB, and WR. But we are still thin at safety, the O line, and just the usual curiosity around the RB position. For some reason, the Mac Jones trade never materialized. My guess is we wanted too much. And why not? No reason to be desperate to get rid of him. You never know if our QB gets hurt again (fixthefuckingolinepleaseforthemillionthgoddamntime), and beyond that, if someother big name goes down (Stafford/Goff) Jones could pop back up for a desperate team.

Other than that, hmmmmmm. not much in the soccer world, but 4 games in LA vs the Dodgers. They have been on a bit of a slide and we are what we are. Consistently maddeningly inconsistent. We won a series! Against a pretty solid Pirates team! And hey we brought back Mickey D from Sacto. He’s going tonight.

Bader is in CF tonight. McD is SP, Schmitt at 1b Devers DH no Eldridge vs. Sasaki.

Dogs activated Betts who has been out since April 5 on IL.

  2. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Eldridge not in the LU tonight. RHP going for LA.

KNBR reporting that Vitello said this afternoon the plan is that Eldridge will play a come off the bench/PHitting role mostly this season with Devers and Schmitt playing 1b most of the time.

    What the actual PHUCK ???!!!

They get Betts back and we get Bader lol hitting.115 and bench Gilbert against the RH pitcher as well? Eldridge benching makes no sense over Chapman.
And bringing up a Stiff like Tristan Gopher ball Beck another stupid move..

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

If they could unload Chapman somehow things would make a little more sense. Wonder how much input Buster had in this latest insanity. I assume we have a GM too but I don’t know his name.

Meaningless fact: Eldridge shares a birthday with Mantle, Marichal, Keith Hernandez and Juan Gonzalez…

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

SFs GM is Zack Minasian. His brother is GM of the Angels— also in last place.

      • willedav's avatar willedav says:

Yes Loo, Chapman probably easiest of Big 3 to unload. If Phils or any other semi contender wanted upgrade at 3b I imagine he’d waive NTC. Hard for Posey to do much more except maybe Ray til June 1.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Agree. Complete nonsense. He needs to PLAY. Sheesh, send him back to Sac where he will get reps if they’re not going to play him.

  3. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

    It’s actually a 4 game set in LA…

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fuck, man I’m losing the ability to count. In my head it was 4 then I looked at the sched and counted 3. Derp. Who said senility was fun?

Glad to know someone reads this stuff!!!

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

webbie to IR with knee bursitis.

  6. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Lee’s been robbed of a few hits lately.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Hey now. If Devers hits, maybe the rest of them wake up.

  8. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Way to battle. McD pitched out of leadoff double by Teo.

  9. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

Is there a team in MLB worse than SF at scoring its runner from 2nd on a single into the outfield?

SF runners try to take home when they shouldn’t and don’t go when they obviously or with reasonable risk, should go. Either by fault of the runner or 3rd base coach. The inability of SF runners to recognize when a batted ball is placed where they should immediately run from their secondary lead to home is mind boggling…

  10. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

A few guys have been making good contact, if not always getting hits, so it seems to be turning a bit. Rafi and Lee especially, but also maybe, hopefully, Adames as well. Susac back soon, Ramos having some solid contact… just need Bader to start all over and start hitting.

    • Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

And Schmitt looks like he got homer hungry and now is swinging for the fences every at bat. Dude, stay within yourself, you’ll do fine….

  11. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

That inning could of been a lot worse for MacDonald 4 straight hits but mixed in a DO to keep it 2-1 Bums but lots of pitches that inning 30?

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

A rare time but Ramos gets a hanging pitch and smoked a double for 2 runs yes 2 runs with RISP for the lead!!

  13. djloo27's avatar djloo27 says:

I half expected Ramos to screw up the obvious tag up there…

  14. bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy says:

Unbelievable! I stepped away for minute and Dog-s-hit those 4 consec singles. Step away for another minute, and we string some hits together for the lead. Consistently Inconsistent! At least it ain’t boring!

  15. snarkk's avatar snarkk says:

    Chapman, the incredible shrinking hitter.

The guy is nearly useless like just there, with a man on third base and less than 2 outs.

Last 87 ABs in 23 games he’s got a horrific .546 OPS with 6 RBIs and 25Ks (K rate of 29%) and ZERO, yes ZERO HRs.

Of course, Muncy parks one immediately after Chapman can’t add on another run with Ramos at 3rd and one down…
