No News is No News – Any News?

Beyond the fact that we get to play TWO international games this year.

Whoopeeee!

Although the flight to Mexico City is shorter than our regular east coast swings. But yeah, Australia and Mexico. Be still my heart. With our luck there will be a Thursday game for us after the 18 hour flight home.

Other than that, at least the bloggowebs are paying some lip service to the O line woes and that we are kicking the tires on Steeler LG Issac Seamalo. There are a few other names out there, and guys in the draft I haven’t really gone in depth to look at. And there are apparently a ton of good WRs. But I think we should wait until the 4th round for that and look in free agency for our wideouts. Mike Evans, say.

So yeah, really missing NJ 49er right now.

chuck- from last thread. From what I have been reading I think our out field is pretty much set. I hope Gilbert isn’t hurt to bad because I really like him. I also think with the players we have everyone will get their hacks. I imagine the OF will be Matos, Bader, and lee. Both Chatman and Devers will get regular days off and if he proves he can do it Eldridge can bat DH.

I like Evans and he would make us better but I am tired of picking up older guys it just never seems to work for us. I don’t want us getting Deebo again he’s beat.

Matos Winder? I think the numbers game will have him either on the bus from Sac . . . or, he is released/traded. Fairly certain he is out of options, so Sac may not be an option. Gilbert has the inside track for late inning defense and/or pinch hitting, with the starters being Ramos* in left, Lee in Right, and Bader in Center.

*Praying that Posey trades Ramos, as him and Lee were primarily the cause of our outfield defense woes.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Ahh. Okay, I didn’t know that was the latest . . . Sheesh, I get tired of the Giants going down to the last fucking option on all our minor leaguers. Give them 2 freakin’ chances max, then get rid of them. Fairly obvious that they wont stick after 2 chances. Giants? No, they wait until they’re worthless. This chart is 2 years old, but it is spot on . . .

  2. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Hopefully our new manager will have some input in the draft this year since he knows a lot of those players. Everyone here and at Flavs blog have been saying that our minor leagues suck. And that has been that way for a long time. And we are terrible with our international picks which is totally fucking weird.

  3. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

For me it is a wait and see for Matos, if his hitting comes back and he has improved at all on D then he probably stays. Krukow thinks Gilbert goes to Sac. I would like to see them trade Encarcione(?) and get someone younger.

  4. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

I like the ABS system, no more yanking the ball quickly into the strike zone. To me this is going to increase offense because the pitchers are going to have to throw true strikes, and umpires will get better at making calls. No more Krukow saying this ump is a low strike calls or has a wide strike zone.

That chart is the answer to all of our complaints for the last 15 years.

    • Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Yeah, how long have we all been wondering why other teams draft power hitters and the Giants can’t draft at least one. Eldridge is the exception to the rule of thumb

An article in the SF Chronicle the NFLPA gave the Niners trading staff a c- for the year

  7. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yeah the latest News is Maxx Crosby traded to the Ravens for 2026 1st rd&2027 1st round..

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. Like I said, the 49ers won’t be involved in any trades like that till after this current regime runs its course.

They need to really hit a draft with some solid picks to be relevant this season. The bloggos are going WR for us now.

Can’t say I’m completely against that, but I’d rather go O line. Our success at drafting WRs is pretty awful. It would really help if Pearsall could stay on the field more than 2 games at a time.

  9. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Get some F/A studs in here since they seem not to draft that great! They’re some great value here!

My #1 is Center Tyler Linderbaum who would be a anchor for years at only 26, 97 pct pass rate blocker number 2 among 31 centers the dude is a beast!

Alex Pierce WR 6’3 211 lbs field stretcher in a much needed position lacking that!

Rasheed Walker OT age26 ,11th among pass protection 93%

Odafe Owen Edge Rusher age 27

Rig Woolen CB age 27 6’4 ball hawk 12 picks,36 breakups for Seachickens last 4 years!

Tremaine Edmunds LB another beast at 28

Devin Lloyd LB a solid player as well..

Shit just give me 2 off this list and I would be happy as pigs in a slop pen..

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Nice list, sign em up. We have to get younger and we might as well start at FA. Still not sure if Purdy can throw the long-ball multiple times a game. We do need someone who can at least take a defender with him and block. I am always surprised by our draft picks and I doubt things will change much this year. We need big angry guards and tackles otherwise Purdy’s gonna have a tough year.

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Cool with that. Get a lot more.

  11. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

POed. Flavor just ended the Flap. Not certain why (besides the obvious exhaustion of coming up with daily posts/baseball subjects. Unca, just a suggestion – take up the slack and have a baseball season too . . . or, not. Ha!

    RIP Country Joe McDonald.

Served his country and sang about it.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

One of my favorite groups. I still listen to em. Seen him when he was on his own and he was pretty good.

  13. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Wow their is news now WR Mike Evans has agreed to a 3 year deal at around 27M it will be interesting how it’s structured. It sure would give Purdy a number 1 weapon if he doesn’t in up on the 49ers Mash unit of 49ers receivers! Big gamble, big rewards possibilities,we shall see for the future HOF guy, Welcome to the Bay Mike..

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

I like this deal too AK. Just hope he still has gas in the tank at 32, along with missing significant time last season due to injury.

Nevertheless, like you said, “Big gamble, big reward possibilities.”

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

3 yrs 60 mil guaranteed amount? Mike taken a lot of injuries. So our salary cap of 35 mil leaves around 10 mil after Lowe and draft signings are subtracted.

Raiders get 3 years of C Tyler Linderbaum, Panthers get 4 years of JaelinPhillips for 120 mil. Titans get 3 years of John Franklin-Myers for 63 mil.

I hope this works out for us.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I am tired of picking up old players. Evans is a great player but I don’t like the deal at all. We need to start building a younger team and continuity with younger players.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I disagree. Shanahan’s track record with drafted WRs is a flat awful train wreck. Cowing and Watkins, and the 8 WRs drafted before them either don’t play here anymore, are hurt, or did nothing. Evans is a proven vet that should be fine. Evans has size, speed, and hands.

I’m sure they’ll draft a WR or 3, but they NEED a proven guy out there.

        New thread is up.
