Funny how Joe Burrow, who suffered a more severe toe injury AFTER Brock Purdy, is now scheduled to play this weekend after undergoing surgery for his more significant turf toe owie. The Niners of course rushed Purdy back in against the Jags, a fairly meaningless non-conference game, ony to see him hurt it worse.
More mismanagement of an injury due to the crack (smoking) medical staff?
I don’t fucking know, but why this team is always in the top 5 of injuries during the Shanahan/Lynch tenure begs the question of whether to do something different with the medical/training staff.
But I digress. Fuck it. The problem with this team isn’t really the offense anyway. Even the much maligned offensive line was fairly stout vs the Rams. It’s the defense that is ravaged by injury. As we showed against the Rams, it was the dumb 4th down call and the JJ fumble that sealed the deal.
Jones went up and down the field just as effectively as Stafford.
But here we are at week 11, wondering if Pearsall and Purdy are any closer to actually playing than they appear to be. Since our 3-0 start we’ve gone: L-W-L-W-L-W-L. Here’s to the next W.
Get the win and we are on the fringes of the playoffs. Lose this one and the season is more than likely done.
Another band that never disappointed live.
Jethro Tull was not getting any 2nd shows at the very beginning. They kept re-naming the band to get another gig. The name that stuck was the one that they used when they got a 2nd gig at the same venue.
Hah! Never heard that story. Did see Martin Barre a few years ago in Petaluma. Fun show.
Saw Tull 3 times in the 70s. Like the Who, every show I saw they were absolutely killing it.
Meanwhile, Purdy and Pearsall are “trending in the right direction” with their injuries.
What were they doing the previous 9 weeks?
I saw the Songs from the Wood tour.
Saw that and the heavy horses one and bursting out..
No new injuries this week!
I’m pretty sure that’s the first week of no injuries going back to OTA’s.
Rams training camp and practice is light, saving players for games. Niners practice is heavy “building calluses”. Which do you think is the better way to practice given that the Rams have been almost completely healthy and the Niners are fielding largely 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers come game time?
Maybe the stresses built up during vigorous practice make players more susceptible to injury?
Fred Warners injury is just a back luck deal, which is a part of the game
Bosa and CMC for instance are like highly strung thoroughbreds, which means they are on the threshold of what their bodies can take.
It’s an impossible coincidence for the Niners to be one of, if not the most injured teams year after year, with a relatively healthy 2023 being the outlier.
It also shows what a healthy 49ers team is capable of and they do have enough talent, when healthy, to get to the big dance.
This whole way of approaching training and practice needs a top down review, training staff, methods in training camp and practice during the week of a game is costing the team opportunities to win another SB.
Enough Kyle, it’s clear something drastic needs to change so change it.
Might be a good idea to save the all gas no brakes until gameday. They have to do something Kittle gets hurt every year even if it’s minor Bosa loses a season every third year. I just hope Warner’s ankle proves not to be problematic.Looks to me that Pearsall is fragile and who knows what Williams will look like when he heals up I don’t think big dudes and ACL tears are a good combo. It’s just mind boggling unbelievable.
All gas and no brakes on gameday only, exactly the point Winder.
I keep hearing reports that the team pays little attention to stretching and loosening up pre-practice and pre-games.
Wish I could confirm or deny, but I’ve heard it a few different times over the past couple years. And we have so many non-contact injuries like Kittle’s and JJ’s. Shit like Bosa and BA and Warner are part of the game, but a lot of these seem preventable.
The team does more dynamic stretching and not so much traditional static stretching, but they definately do stretch.
Im not so sure about the Bosa injury, he has his 3rd ACL. One could make an argument that the knee ligament is getting over stressed.
Pearsall is coming back from PCL injury at about normal time. He has to be able to plant and cut/push off and run routes at max speed to be useful. Kittle jacked hammy running route with zero contact. these guys went to big time FBS colleges and have been playing for years. Their injuries have nothing to do with coaching.
Really? Is that not also true of the Rams players who are far healthier year in and year out? What makes the 49ers player so susceptible to injury when all NFL players meet the criteria you laid out?
I’m only talking about these 2. Are you blaming coaching/medical personnel for their injuries? Kittle has his own elaborate pregame routine that includes breathing exercises etc. He hurt himself running a route without being hit–is every injury that happens Shanahan’s fault???
Come on. 6 of 8 seasons among the highest injured is not an anomaly. It’s a pattern. I never mentioned Shanahan. I’m more down on the training / medical staff.
Pearsall has been injured repeatedly, both training camps he attended, OTA’s, and in games.
Kittle has been injured every year dating back to his rookie year, I was on the sideline of the field talking with his mom and sister about it.
I am not addressing any particular single injury, but rather the mass of consistent injuries, including to both those players.
My contention is the players train and practice too hard and it makes them prone to injuries.
One more tidbit.
Ricky Pearsall never missed a college game, he played 5 years, 55 games and zero missed due to injury.
George Kittle played 40 out of 41 games, missing just 1 game in 4 years due to injury.
Now at the Niners Ricky is suddenly made of Glass and George misses multiple games consistently.
Why?
chuck, thanks for the vid, always dug that song and Martin Barre’s fills. By 1974 band had changed the original bassist in pics Glen Cornick (headband and glasses) had been replaced by Jeffrey Hammond and drummer Clive Bunker was gone too.
Demo Lenoir got injured in Thursdays practice, his calf. He’s now questionable for Sunday. If he can’t go Luter is next up.
Jesus. Can’t get through one week without a starter going down.
Brissett can pass if we don’t get pressure. All about the line play as usual.
I like this girl she’s a little damaged but totally real.
Tripping the first time I head this and I was totally hooked.
Tull has always been a little unique. Some of their songs are classic. Saw em only once in the middle 70’s in Oakland can’t remember the name of the tour. Some bands you just have to fry with and Tull was one of those.
Yeah, some of their stuff is a little too Olde England frippery but when they rock, they go balls-out. The whole Thick as a Brick thing was their response to being called a prog band. So they did a song that took up 2 sides of an album.
So funny when they beat Metallica for best metal performance. Shows how clueless the RnR HoF is.
Hey Bergs. Sent you an email.
Looks like it bounced.
I think I fixed it. Try again.
Demo is getting an MRI on the calf he injured on Thursdays practice.
Doesn’t sound promising for Sundays game against the Cards and losing the #1 CB isn’t ideal.
Shanahan says they are confident in Luter as Demo’s replacement.
Sure.
I read that Purdy, CMC, Kittle and Pearsal have played together for 1 quarter so far this year.
let’s hope it lasts longer this time around.
This group is full of tired old men who listen to music from half a century ago. We need some young blood here.
Lol, Tru dat, but what are old men supposed to do.

New thread is up.
