Well, as all our players slowly get hurt, no one seems to be recovering. BA, who was a possible starter before game 1, according to the crack medical staff, is now possibly out for the year. Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall are both minute to minute to hours to days to weeks to months from full practices, let alone playing a game. Fred Warner will be ready for the Super Bowl, and Nick Bosa is looking at being ready for OTAs in 2026. So there’s that. Yikes.
With that being said, and due to the fact that we are in great shape divisional-wise (3-0), and conference-wise (6-1), and even record-wise (6-3) I was a little surprised we didn’t make moves. For all that we are in 3rd place in the NFC West. We are in good shape but are we in playoff shape?
I just don’t see how this team can compete week to week with all these maladies. Recent taxi squad call-ups Clelin Ferrell and Robert Beal, and recently traded for Keion White are the latest replacement guys for the slew of guys who are out. Ferrell and White actually played pretty well last week, but it was the NYGs. But for all their suck, they have a very solid pass rush. And the O line played well enough to allow Jones to go 14-14 in the 1st half last week on the way to a solid win. With an actual run game.
Good news is Bryce Huff is coming back for this all-important game.
So, hey, maybe there is a chance. We limped into Levi’s South in week 5 and took one from them. Let’s do it again.
If Kyle doesn’t get coach of the year, that would be BS, with his starting QB, starting LB, and Starting edge rusher, wlll….
If there was ever a game for the team to step up this is it. We got to be able to get to Stafford. There are so many hurt gonna have to wait until gameday to see who’s gonna play.
It’s on Saleh to generate consistent pressure on Stafford. By hook or by crook or by blitzing too much, Stafford has to feel the heat in the pocket.
The offense seems to be doing fine with CMC and Kittle leading the rushing attack and the quick passing game thrown in there.
Yeah it’s gonna be on the defense.
Just a little snippet from the mailbag but it’s still food for thought.
Does last year’s strong draft class give Tariq Ahmad and his staff more credibility and belief with John Lynch, and allow him to believe the 49ers can truly rebuild this through the draft? Trey Sermon, Ambry Thomas, Ty Davis-Price, Danny Gray, Jake Moody and Cameron Latu were drafted under the Adam Peters regime. — Maleake H
I believe Maleake is referring to my podcast argument that the 49ers shouldn’t consider third-round picks so sacrosanct because they have such a poor history in that round. But he’s right in that the third-rounders under Ahmad — Dominick Puni, Nick Martin and Upton Stout — have been more reliable.
Well, that’s like saying trading those first round picks for Lance didn’t really hurt the team because they have such a a spotty record drafting 1st rounders.
And Fred Warner was a 3rd round pick. I think most of their thinking around this si they are getting Huff back and they got a DT in White.
this should be an interesting game if our D-backs can stay with their WR’s and TE’s, and our pass rush can generate some pressure we might just be able to pull this out.
Difficult task agreed. Williams hurt them too; Niners were fortunate to get fumble and recovery before he might have scored. Bethune will have quite workload.
Well we do have a spotty record with 1st rd’s Except for Bosa and I guess Aiyuk we have struck out a lot of times. I don’t think they were saying that I think for the last couple of years we have done pretty well with most picks and should keep our draft capital.
Dolphins are killing the Bills, don’t tell me you know what’s going to happen in a division game regardless of roster or record.
Niners can definately sweep the Rams.
Davis Mills from Stanford throws for 290 and runs 14 yards for TD to give Texans 1 point lead over Jags with 30 seconds left.
oh well. We are officially toast.
Rams scoring at will, not good, no D
and the fuck up
Yeah, things aren’t going as we hoped.
schooled beyond belief.
jennings with the stupid fumble
A run on 4th down…every team knows who the Niners are going to give the ball too!
shanahan with the dumbest play call thwre
Where the hell is the no huddle, I swear Kyle looks at the clock the whole time the Offense is on THE FIELD

Been ignoring football for the last few seasons, but this season I decided to watch. Surprised by the 49ers record to date (but as Chuck said/alluded to in his opening post), it seems to be all smoke and mirrors. Nevertheless, I give them credit for compiling this record in lieu of all the significant injuries they’ve incurred.
Too bad it seems to be for naught, as the Rams are showing what a force they are in this 1st half. Sigh . . . *
*Sheesh, unfuckingbelievable the hoops that WP made me jump through to post this. I HATE WP!
get the ball back here and we may get back into this game
yeah blogspot sucked harder but WordPress has been a disaster these last few months.
Been lurking here unca since preseason – great job you’re doing with the blog!
d is just awful. Soft zone no pass rush
Does not matter if we score, if the D can’t stop them
Williams practically walked in on that TD run – no one touched him.
Deja Vu . . . Parkinson too – a (catch and) walk in the park.
the defense is wowfy thin but the offense made a lot of mistakes.
Insult to atupidity
Scored 4 TD’s which could have been 5 except for a dumb 4th down call. It should put you in with a great shot to win but the D was completely lost.
No trade at the deadline looks worse today.
Hey Blade, good to see you here. Shame this season is chugging down the shitter with all these injuries.
This team is tearing my heart out again.
Short of trading the farm for Hendrickson, which I’m totally against, I don’t think this team, as banged up as it is, stands a chance in the playoffs. Maybe a WC win, but little else. FOr once I think the long view is warranted.
Thing is though, if this team misses the playoffs again, I wonder what the fuck this front office does about the catastrophic amount of injuries sufferend by Shanahan during his tenure. They need to do something different.
New thread is up.
