No News is Toe News

So, this is the deal. The 49er brass are in complete hedge-the-bet mode. No need to throw good picks after bad to improve the defense when we don’t know when our #1 QB, #1 and #2 WRs, # 1 pass rusher, #1 linebacker, #1 pick, and the various other guys on the shelf ever set foot on the field again.

So far we have gotten away with Mac Jones as our starting QB and he has done a fairly good job of keeping the team in games, and getting the victories. 6-3 is something I’d think the folks here would call success even before we became the walking dead. The D has been sporadic at times, and Shanny seems to be doing better in the red zone, but it is fairly easy to move up when you are 26th in scoring.

I wanted them to make moves of the low-level variety but I can see why they just figured, why even chase a chip when we have so many players down? A deep playoff run seems like a pipe dream at this point, even taking into account our 3-0 division record and 6-1 conference record. Both tops in the NFL despite being in 3rd place in our division.

Mainly because Brock Purdy remains off the field nursing his toe injury. One of course exacerbated by putting him into a game that was meaningless anyway. One that we lost anyway. But that toe has sailed. They created the jam they are in with Purdy.

Anyhow we are in the same situation that we were in when we played the Rams in week 5. A seemingly tall task that no one gave us a shot at winning. And that was before 5 more critical injuries.

Win this game, and our division record would be guaranteed #1 for any tiebreaker. Lose and we slide into the wildcard pack as both LA and Seattle look to keep their pressure on us the whole season. And we lose our tiebreaker with the Rams.

Your joes on this thread are severely bad. I think I can top what you did with an even worse joke. There is a town in Nevada where you can’t have pets. It’s called Tonopah. IOW, Toe, no paw!

I hope we can hang with the Rams long enough for them to make some mistakes. I would love for us to take this one.

Hey Chuck, I just read story in Chron about 4 of Doobie Bros reuniting and playing 20 minute live show for NPR (linked in Chron to yt) that is on you tube under heading “tiny desk concert.” They do Takin it to the Streets, Black Water and Listen to the music. This is in support of new recording they did. They have concert coming up in Lincoln CA soon.
Fond memories of them getting started in South bay where you could see them for dang near nothing.

Yeah, saw them around ’76. Cow Palace I think. One of my early favorite bands.

I think the 49ers showed us at the trade deadline that they are relying on youth and did not want to give up any high draft slots for a rental player. I love it as long as we hit on our picks.

Chubb is on a 3 year deal but the price.

I agree, The good thing about that is our draft classes from the last few years have given us some pretty good players. I was worried about that when Peters left but whoever’s in charge now has done a good job. It’s hard for rookies to step in and take over and since so many of ours are hurt it’s gonna take a little longer.

yeah that’s it, thanks. It is F-bomb (fundraiser) for public radio, whose budget has taken a hit under powers that be. Think I’ll kick in for them.

Before Pandemic Tiran Porter came into travel store I worked in Los gatos and bought nice nylon holdall style bag. He was playing show with M McDonald at nearby Mountain Winery. Really nice guy and former softball buddy of mine took bass lessons from him long time ago.
