NJ’s Homecoming Game

Here we are at week 9 and it is a very crucial time for the 49ers. Another dreaded trip to the east coast, another dreaded trip to the stadium that took out Solly Thomas and Nick Bosa a few years back, and another attempt to try and build momentum for the rest of the season. At this point 6-3 would be worlds better than 5-4. A loss Sunday would be a big hole to dig out of.

As for the team, the two main guys (well 3 counting BA) are still on the shelf. Purdy is limited yet again, and Pearsall is a DNP entirely, BA’s window hasn’t opened, so he’s a long way off. Huff is out one more week at least, but Burford is back, for good or ill. And Dee Winters was a full participant so that’s good. Jones and Jennings as well are full participants. Oft-injured Yetur Gross-Matos and Ben Barch are limited as are DTs Jordan Elliott and Alfred Collins.

In other words, another day in Ninerland.

The Giants have their own slew of injuries, what with the latest being Cameron Skattebo, who had what looks like the same injury suffered by Fred Warner.

I’m sure Marc was psyched for this game, so at some point, raise a glass, throw a quick prayer, or simply give a knowing head nod to Marc, our friend and fan.

This will be post of the day for the rest of the year.

This is the first post ever from the first thread I made on this WordPress site, way back on September 7, 2011.

I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.

Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.

Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

    Rest in peace, my friend.

I’m fairly sure that Marc will not be missing this game. Especially knowing that his family and us will all be thinking of him. I can tell all of you, for sure, he loved all of us and considered us family.

That’s cool to hear. When I looked back at that post it was kinda crazy that it has been 14 years that we’ve been doing this.

I don’t thank you guys enough for your time and effort spent here. it definitely has been a blast gettting to meet and talk with you guys.

I did meet Irish Kevin at a Niner game a while back, and I’ll thank 12th man again for the tickets to that AZ game a few years ago.

I pinged Marc’s daughter Dana, and she sent this to me. She said to post it to the blog. I sent her the pics that Marc sent me.

Thank you so much for sharing these pictures. This was a shock for all of us. The reality of it still haven’t sunk in. I am sure he will be watching this weekend from the best seat in the house. My dad was so die hard that as a kid I asked him if I could like a different football team and his response? “If you want to find somewhere else to live, sure.” Hahaha thank you for reaching out and sharing the blog.

Here’s a link to Marc’s obit from Dana.

Marc was a motorcycle rider as I used to be, he sent me pics of his bike he had painted out in Ni er colors with the graphic he designed on the tank. It’s a work of art.

I just had a dose of reality. I just ordered something from Amazon Prime. Marc’s address was in on the list of addresses. I could not bring myself to delete it. I would just love to send him another thing, anything.

Marc’s passing has me wanting to say something that can be unsaid sometimes. We’ve been blogging here for 14 years. Most of us started communicating with each other on the old SFGate, Sac Bee or Press Democrat, many years before that.

I don’t know any of you personally, like I did Marc. But you are all considered friends because we do have a lot of history. I love you all, even if we feel the need to duke out an issue now and then. There isn’t one of you currently here that I would not want to meet.

Here’s to another 14 years of talking 49er football!

Even though we don’t have the numbers here like we used to I would be lost if I couldn’t relate my joy or vent my frustration which is what 49ers do to me even after all these years. I am grateful for everyone who posts here. And to chuck for running it.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Thanks for that. Yeah, the old days of battling Spitblood and NoFear 49er (even TwinFan, who has also passed) were pretty hysterical. Not sure where those guys wandered off to, but yeah, it has been fun.

Love the music discussions as well.

Need to find that pic of Irish, me and my son at a game a while back.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah I just went back to 2013/14 and just reading some of the names made me smile and wonder where everyone went. Hopefully they had better things to do and not just die but I have a feeling quite a few did.

  8. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Damn he was young, when someone I know dies and they are close to my age (70) I want to run to my doctor. Yes he will be watching

  9. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Listening to Niners talk blog, I forget the host, he said if Purdy is well enough he could be suited up on the sideline as the backup to Jones. If he does suit up he will probably start next week hopefully.

  10. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

    Game Day!

This feels like a really big game for the 2025 49ers. After winning the first 3 games it’s been win, lose, win, lose, win, lose. In addition, after a hot start for Mac Jones, he is 2 TD to 4 INT in the last 2 games and has played as though he’s the back up QB, which he is.

Niners must come out firing and get a solid win. Enough with the grimy win shit, play with your hair on fire today.

    Niners 30-14

    Cheers Marc.

  11. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

The D looks a lot better. Jones is still getting hit as he releases the ball, not a good sign for the O Line

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

looks like NY has adjusted to our quick passes already.

Shanny has to do his own.

  13. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Thank God we have a FG kicker.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

  22. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Anyone know how bad Williams is?

  23. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Torn ACL. As usual the fucking turf there did the job. He wasn’t hit, he came down hard on his knee.

    Fuck that place.

  24. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yup. Another game, another devastating injury. Unfuckingreal.

    New thread is up.
