Another Slew of Injuries

Well, add Bryce Huff and Jake Brendel to the injury woodpile. In a season where no good game goes unpunished, both Huff and Brendel suffered hamstring injuries and both will miss ‘a couple weeks’ per Shanahan. Didn’t see when Huff went down, but Matt Hennessey did pretty well in Brendel’s absence.

In other news, Purdy likely misses another game with his bad toe. No word on Pearsall but Kittle made it through the game OK.

Star of the game was Tatum Bethune. He being a 7th round (almost Mr Irrelevant himself) pick last year who replaced the irreplaceable Fred Warner had 10 solo tackles and called a great game as the defense shut down the #1 rush offense. Bethune of course is the reason that 3rd round pick Nick Martin has been relegated to healthy scratch.

I was really impressed with our defense all around but also our oline for opening holes and not letting Jones get hammered too much. It was an impressive show.

Renardo Greene also got hurt, some kind of toe injury.

Texans Oline is a hot mess. CJ gets pressured and is prone to mistakes.

    Their DL is another story.

Demeco knows what to do as well. If our 1st defensive interception doesn’t happen this week it’s probably not going to happen at all. Our Oline needs to be on point.

Everybody is gaga over Salah. I like him too but I thought Demeco Ryans was much better as a DC. IMO, Ryans was as good as I’ve seen come through the organization, ever.

Nice honor but Shanny better find some snaps for others in the RB room to keep CMc healthy.

Watching our young D-line come together and perform way ahead of schedule is both surprising and satisfying. I don’t know what we are going to do about a pass rush with so many down in that position. Maybe the major disappointment, Robert Beale, can finally show up. At least the run stuffing element is showing good for the future.

The fact that they stuffed Bijan is no mean feat. He ripped the Bills for a ton of yards and the Niners kept both him and Drake London (42 yards) in check.

George Kittle cannot be understated as well. I noticed Shanny used a lot of Juice motion and had him blocking up the middle on a lot of plays as well.

He threw some new looks out there that were very encouraging.
