The Deal is Done ! ! ! ! ! ! ( f i n a l l y )

Here are the deets:

Brock Purdy and the 49ers have agreed to terms on a five-year, $265 million deal today.

Purdy will receive $181 million in total guarantees, including $165 million in the first three years of a deal that runs through the 2030 season.

The $265 total value for the extension would rank Purdy fifth in the NFL, while the $53 million annual average is tied for seventh.

So, he didn’t cry for the moon, but he got his bundle. Got to say, as much shit as I’ve been giving this front office so far this year, they got shit done, and had what looks to be a very solid draft.

I’ll post the sched, but it is there in all its glory on the last thread.

Huzzah!

good contract , now the competence of the LG and LT backups if TW injured to protect the franchise QB in pass pro.

If the OL coach-up of these ?quality? and often injured of these projects fail and Purdy gets badly injured then what.

I’ve been carping about the O line for years now under the Shanalynch regime. They are throwing bodies at it at least.

Would still like to see more work done come cutdown days, but we’ll see.

They did follow a plan regarding building a defense so I’m totally fine with what they did. Purdy likely is gonna be forced off his spot, so Shanny better come up with quick hitting plays that get the ball out of his hands fast.

my recollection of the TENN OL from 2 or 3 years ago maybe prone for errors, but they had both Dillard and Nicholas Petit-Ferer(sp) where Dillard did OK but got injured and Petit was a rookie and no good.

Seriously can these two be counted on. Humphries never signed the contract, why. Bartch is injury prone is his 4 years.

OL is shaky for C, LG, and backup LT. Not feeling good.

Just got home and saw the news and what a relief it is. Now all the media and fuckwad Cohn(sp) can do is whine about how he is so not worth it. Really glad for the franchise.

Crazy when you look at Purdy’s draft class. The only first-rounder taken in 2022, Kenny Pickett by the Steelers, is on his third team. Of the nine QBs drafted that year, Purdy is the only guy still on the team that drafted him.

Desmond Ridder – 8-10, may retire
    Malik Wills – 3 teams in 4 years – stellar 3-2 record
Matt Corral – Out of the league
Bailey Zappe – Cream of the crop compared to all these other guys not named Purdy – 4-5 record.
Chris Oladokun – Mahomes 3rd string backup
    Skylar Thompson – Tua’s backup

Trey Lance’s draft year of 2021 is even more weird. This was supposed to be a great draft for quarterbacks.

#1 Trevor Lawrence – Wildly uneven career – 1-1 in the playoffs. The game he WON, he threw 4 picks. 22-38 record.

    #2 Zack Wilson – Pretty much awful – but, Jets – 12-21 record – 23 TDs to 25 picks

#3 Trey Lance – Yikies. On his 3rd team and riding the bench in SD. Harbaugh hoping for Kaepernick magic

#11 Justin Fields – Another terrible start to a career – 14-30 record – but, Bears. Middling diddling for the Steelers.

    #15 Mac Jones – 20-29 – but, Giants/Jax – Now he’s a Niner – rehab and trade

Kyle Trask – backup for TB
Kellen Mond – backup for TB
    Davis Mills – Snodfart’s finest – 5-19, but Houston
    Sam Ehlinger – 3 starts, 3 losses

18 QBs drafted in 2021 and 2022 and one is a star.

It appears as though Purdy’s deal only guarantees money for 3yrs.

Probably provides an out in years 4&5 if necessary.

I was thinking $50M but it is what it is in this game.

    About time he was signed!

  5. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

TENN gave up on NPF after 2 years and got FA Moore for LT earlier in 2005.

Moore is an above-average starter. The Titans were willing to pay a premium to ensure players like Nicholas Petit-Frere don’t completely derail the offense again next season. That makes sense, given how painful the pass protection was to watch throughout 2024. Tennessee’s willingness to acquire Moore changes the career pathway for Latham, but they’ll possess full confidence in his ability to continue developing at right tackle.

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

As of now we have 18 OL’s on the team lots of them will be gone before the season starts. We shall see.

  7. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Pumped to have Kittle and Purdy signed early in the process, huge difference from last year’s bullshit.

As to the Purdy contract, I will wait for the breakdown to be released to understand what he really gets, but the early indication is he gets $100 million guaranteed at signing according to Maiocco, that’s the number I predicted so yay me, the other “guaranteed money” may or may not actually be guaranteed. The devil’s in the details.

On the surface at least his 2025 contract value gets added to the new “5 year” extension making it a 6 year $45 million dollar APY deal.

What I’m really interested in is how many real years he gets. I expected 2 years but early indications make it sound like it’s a 3 year deal, not shocking but longer than anticipated if true.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

I’m looking at it as a 5 year extension added to his existing 1 year left on his deal., but he did get a raise and bonus money this year. So in reality, it is a 6 year, 45 mil per year deal. Kudos to Purdy and the 49ers for getting it done.

  8. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

One more point on the Purdy deal, his cap hit for 2025 was going to be $5 million before this contract, now it’s $8.5 million for 2025.

Kudos to the Niners for their creative financial gymnastics keeping the cap hit so low, it means they now have $33 million still available after the Purdy and Kittle signings.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Definitely a good deal, he was never out for blood. I like him even more now and I honestly don’t believe the money will go to his head. But you never know with that kind of dough.

      • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Agree Winder. It doesn’t appear he tried to screw every last dollar and potentially left some money on the table, same as Kittle. Let’s see how Warner handles his business next but I would guess he’s looking for a fair deal too.

Unlike some other players, looking at you Bosa, Williams, Aiyuk.

Bosa needs to take it up a notch this year, he’s not being mentioned nationally anymore.

How many games does Williams play this year I wonder? He misses games every year.

BA diva’d his way off this team IMO. Left a lot of bad feelings with the Org and his teammates, even if they don’t come out and say it.

I have no problem with players getting paid but it still has to be an equitable deal for all parties.

        ..

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Deebo did, too. BA still has a chance to do right by the team. And Purdy. They were syncing up nicely in 2023.

The revamped D line should help out Bosa immensely.

  10. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Outside of Matt Stafford twice and C.J. Stroud once, they don’t face what people view as an elite quarterback. In fact, it’s rookie quarterbacks, it’s quarterbacks without 20 total starts

shit this season looks good already. The above from marc adams 49erswebzone.

The other deal is done as well ..

Fred Warner signs a 3/63M dollar extension making him the highest paid inside LB in football..(so Kittle&Purdy done now Fred the heart & soul of the Defense )Man I just loved the way the 49ers didn’t drag their DICKS this year( like last year Aiyuk ,Williams, before that BOSA,Samuel etc)and now have everyone signed up! Lesson learned from the past it really hurt the team chemistry and the extra time it took to get the players in game readiness..
