I’m talking about Stone Blanton, of course. The part-time hit man, one-time private eye, and whiskey maker extraordinaire has signed a three-year deal. No idea what the money is, and I really don’t care. Just like the guy’s name, and he comes in as a hard-hitting UDFA linebacker who may indeed stick with the team.
Work hard, kick ass, and see what happens.
In other news, uh, I got nothin’. Well, Gabe Davis came a’calling. He of course is a deep threat who tore it up for the Bills in the playoffs a few years ago but has had a lot of injuries. He got dumped out of his 3/$39 mill contract by the Jags recently, and is available.
Do it. We need guys who are bona fide deep threats. I don’t care how accurate Purdy is supposedly not on deep passes, but Davis goes up and gets them.

Heres the piece Chuck
And he gets 3yrs / $92K guaranteed to boot.
Doesn’t seem much like a preseason trinket deal to me.

PFF gave the Niners the lowest grade, (D), in the NFL for their off-season moves.
Their reasoning seems largely based on the big name player losses and journeyman type acquisitions.
They do credit getting Saleh back.
I don’t agree. Losing Greenlaw, Huffanga and some O and D lineman on the face of it looks bad, however those players were either ineffective or injured or both. Losing an injured star player doesn’t move the needle for me.
I also give more credit to the Niners draft where for once they went for the best player available for a position of need, so.ething they should have been doing for the last 3 years IMO. When building a squad from scratch taking the BPA makes perfect sense, but once that squad is built it’s more about plugging specific holes and preparing for moving on from high price players.
My bad, NO got a D- so the Niners got the second worst grade along with the Texans.
NO grade looks to be partly based on Carr retiring. Thats really lazy journalism, hindsight is always 20-20.
These grades and things are worth the air they are printed on. I remember the glowing remarks we got for Solly Thomas and Reuben Foster. And for a year they were great. I remember the Eagles making a boatload of moves one offseason, and the pundits were all over them being prohibitive favorites to win the Super Bowl and they tanked.
That being said, I feel a lot better about the state of the team after this draft than I did before it.
Oh hell a BIG NO on Gabe Davis he’s a complete BUST always injured, shit only got into 10 games last year after suckering a 3/20 M deal from are former idiot GM Trent Balke (sp) and had 20 receptions for a measly 239 yards and 2TD’s .Jags cut him still on the hook for 13MHis only real success was with Josh Allen but even Bills let him go!
Niners would be better off with Watkins & possibly Neyor 6’4 223 speedster over a broken down Jalopy in Gabe Davis!!
Yeah kat I agree especially about Neyor. I think both Watkins and Neyor make the squad. It’s kinda funny though reading the post draft comments by the media it would seem the league is gonna be loaded with superstars. And I guess that’s so until it isn’t.
In case anyone gets thirsty….
They’ve added a canteen 😏
