Day 2 in the Books

So far, I’m pretty happy with the picks. the firdt 2 seem to be locks. Stout and Martin look to be hidden gems after doing some digging. 140 tackles isn’t an accident.

O line now please. THEN TE, WR, RB.

I guess Lynch hog-tied Shanahan and left him in the basement.

Another DT in CJ West from Indiana.

6’1″ 316 lb. Another meat-and-potatoes guy who is a hard worker.

  2. Berger's avatar Berger says:

OMG, This DT from Indiana looks like a beast run stopper. Berger is happy!

  3. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Wow staying Defense DT CJ West.. Indiana Love the pick another BEAST Damm their all in stopping the run

  5. Berger's avatar Berger says:

There is nothing more important on defense than making a team predictable. If we can stop the run so that they have to pass, it is much easier to defense. At that point we go after the QB and fuck them hard. I think we addressed the ability to stop the run very well with this draft. IMO, it was, by far, our biggest need. I’m loving it so far.

Sanders to the Browns in the 5th rounder. I find that amazing.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yep. Told ya Sanders to the Browns!!! Didn’t think it would be the 5th round tho!!!

Holy shit. Even Will Levis didn’t fall this far.

Apparently Shadeur was an arrogant weasel in his team interviews. Didn’t do any workouts, etc.

WR and RB sound about right.

    Watkins ran a 4.37 40. 5’11” 196. A burner at least. 49-906, 9 TDs as a backup/part time starter. Not too shabby.

Jordan James is built a little like Frank Gore.

    5’9″ 205 – 233/1,267 yards rushing w/15 TDs. 26 catches 209 yards.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Marquez Sigle, Safety, K State. Undersized at 5’11” 199 lb

3 picks (1 pick 6) led the team. 60 tackles.

Hey, these guys are all shots in the dark

  9. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

A Safety at pick 24 of 5th Rd. There may be a trade coming to get a decent LG/LT.

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Or they are ignoring the O line. Again.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Lol, didn’t realize there was a new thread. Thats ok since I talk to my self a lot anyway.

Yeah, I am surprised we haven’t hit the OL yet. My guess is they like who they have because at this point most everyone left is a project. Maybe stock up with UFDA’s

  11. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Watkins is a little Deebo-ish. PR ability too.

Compact wideout possessing good play strength and average athleticism. Watkins was schemed into favorable downfield opportunities at Ole Miss but is better suited for work as a possession slot receiver in the pros. He lacks speed but does a good job of playing through contact and competing for space. He’s a body-catcher with a poor catch radius but grabs what’s on target and carries the ball like a running back after the catch. Watkins lacks length and explosiveness but his toughness and ability to return punts could give him a puncher’s chance.

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

No OL I’m Surprised but not shocked with Shanny.Frazier are Mbow at LG would seem to of been a fit.But that’s why I’m a potato couch QB ,so the real brain trusts make the right decisions..

  13. Winder's avatar Winder says:

First Niner draft that I can remember that we haven’t had a trade.

  14. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

    Call me giddy.

It’s been a Fat Man in the middle FIESTA

  15. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I just hope with this type of defensive draft we can get back to playing real 49er football. Last year just didn’t look right.

  16. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

I read a year or two ago that the alternative to high draft pick ol rookies is another TW with another 2 years left before retiring with cash and day 3 picks. This bides time until willing to use.a day 1 on the small number of young ot that justify it.

  17. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Oh yeah, we take the inevitable qb but only this one just got ACL surgery in January. I don’t even know what to think about that.

  18. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Good chance this will happen. Ersery and Charles Grant both there and we passed. If so we can compete in post season this year.

  19. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Finally make an Oline pick near the end of regulation and they go with a G

Four-year starter who can play guard in a primarily move-oriented rushing attack. Colby started 50 games at Iowa and is well-versed in the inside-outside zone attack. He reads defensive movements and adjusts his blocks accordingly. He connects with strong hands and looks to finish lateral engagements but doesn’t have the pad level or play strength to deal with power across from him. His pass protection is troubling, with areas of concern that might not be correctable.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

looks like a career PS player. They need em for during the week to play that weeks opponent. Maybe eventually something might click.

  20. Winder's avatar Winder says:

That 7th rd was disappointing don’t know why we even bothered.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

      100% Winder. No OT either.

      Maybe Colby translates to C?

Not many expectations in RD 7 I guess.

  21. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Junior Bergen is this year’s final pick from MT.

Gotta think he’s a designated PR guy maybe?

Cant find much on him. WR / RB. Small guy too.

  22. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Start the Draft with the predator class and end with the cleaner fish.

  23. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

San Francisco 49ers UDFA SigningsCorey Kiner, RB, CincinnatiSebastian Valdez, DL, Washington

Desmond Watson, the human side of beef, goes to TB. Would like to be a fly on the wall while he eats with Vita Vea.

  24. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Unbelievable we can’t even get out of the off-season without an injury.Reports are Safety Malik Mustapha( hurt last game against Arizona)needs ACL repair on same knee he had surgery on in college.May miss half the season..

  25. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:
    • Round 7, Pick 227: Kurtis Rourke, QB, Indiana
    • Round 7, Pick 249: Connor Colby, G, Iowa
    • Round 7, Pick 252: Junior Bergen, WR, Montana
  26. Winder's avatar Winder says:

NJ- I think the whole UFDA list will be out by tomorrow.

  27. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Just got finished watching the 7th rd picks first interviews and I think I know why we took em. They all seem to be high character people and that is important to this organization. I wish them well, but I still feel we could have waited and got em for UDFA’s.

  28. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Hey NJ looks like TB got my guy I guess he didn’t want to travel far from home. He’s gonna be a monster even after he loses 75 pounds. And the Titans got the center from Sac state in the 5th. I wanted both of em.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Yes Winder I was watching for him last night and gave an update here about the human side of beef joining TB.

Eating meals with Vita Vea soon too. Don’t reach across the table in front of them 😁

You might lose your arm 😉

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

I was quietly pulling for OT Logan Brown from KS too. He went UDFA to MN.

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

A very one-sided draft, all D based on the first 5 especially the 3 impact players in the front. Exceptional.

I strongly believe a trade soon happens where a 30-something quality LG thatcan cover for an injured TW if needed

      • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

geezer, how good was the D draft yesterday. We have a complete solid redo of the front 7 with the 1,2 3, and 5th picks. Read this on collins:

While with the Longhorns, Collins played in the 1-technique and 3-technique positions. He primarily lined up at the 3-technique, which suits the 49ers’ alignment up front well. His addition keeps the defensive line rotation deep and dynamic, a signature piece of the 49ers’ defensive identity.

        this from 49erswebzone.com today

  29. Berger's avatar Berger says:
    NFL Team Logo for 49ers

San Francisco 49ers: Ipani Laloulu, C/G, Oregon

    Image for Oregon

The 49ers need some serious help in the interior of their offensive line.

Ipani Laloulu can play both center and guard in the NFL.

#27 is where Walter Football has us picking next year. This is the pick.

  30. Winder's avatar Winder says:

First thing I thought when I read the bio of Rourke was this is CJ Beatherd(sp) the human concussion waiting to happen. I liked CJ but I can’t remember a kid QB getting hammered so consistently.

  31. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Damm sorry to hear this,Dre Greenlaw recently tore a quad in practice, out indefinitely!Niners dodged a bullet, this sucks though!

  32. Winder's avatar Winder says:

We have reached our 90 man team limit with just 6 UDFA’s. So that means we kept quite a few off of last years PS. Of course once they start to IR some of the injured Niners and there always some(probably Rourke, Mustapha), should open up some more spots on the roster.

  33. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Shit, Dre’s having some bad luck.

    New thread is up…
