Well, Here Goes Nothing . . .

. . . or everything. At least the draft blather will be over with soon. Not to mention the signings of George Kittle and Brock Purdy. But I think we will be fine on those fronts.

Or not. Who knows?

Wish I could just walk in there and bang some heads together and say “STOP FUCKING AROUND!!!” but that’s just me.

Anywho, here’s the draft order for the 49ers. I’ll fill this out as we go along:

  1. Round 1, 11
  2. Round 2, 43
  3. Round 3, 75
  4. Round 3, 100 (Comp)
  5. Round 4, 113
  6. Round 4, 138 (Comp)
  7. Round 5, 147 (via Wash)
  8. Round 6, 160 (Swap w/Minn)
  9. Round 7, 227
  10. Round 7, 249 (Comp)
  11. Round 7, 252 (Comp)

Onward and upward. Hopefully.

  2. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

In the Chron today McCaffrey says he is 100% healthy. We shall see, Warner did not need surgery on his ankle. Hope it does not come back.

  3. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

I don’t know why all the experts think the Niners need another edge rusher, IMO, the Niners need two big men in the middle to break down the QB pocket.

  4. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Eric Branch…lists Mykel Williams and Shemar Stewart, or Walter Nolan on Defense. Or address the Oline with Kelvin Banks.

  5. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Or as Lynch said they could go the route of best available player and choose Tyler Warren TE. The Draft is such a crap shoot, the Niners choose Purdy at pick 262, and he becomes one of the best QBs in the league. FUN TIMES TONIGHT!!

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I still would like to see the draft run two days with 20 picks total. With 5 minutes on the clock between picks because if you don’t know who you want by now you probably should be in another line of work. They have made it so drawn out and commercialized it makes me sick. Plus you have to listen to fuckwads trying to convince you they know more than anybody else.

  7. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

If Graham slips to 11 he’s the pick for sure( I mean not likely, but in drafts team war rooms are not all agreeable..

Are we go “Votane Mack No Matter What!”Ok just kidding on that one Sonny..

DE Stewart really is phenomenal 6’6 257 ran a 4.59 forty,a 40 inch Fucking Vertical, and just short of 11 ft broad jump .And fuck the low sack total that’s on Texas Tech coaching staff,Saleh &Kourchuk will absolutely get the most out of this high motor relentless player! This kid paired finally with Bosa the added Terrorizing element .

DT ..Walter Nolen for sure as the stuffer in the middle would also be excellent 6’3 305 either way they go the 2nd pick is a DE are DT with who they don’t choose out of these 2 guys..

    OT 3rd pick BPA

Still want my RB in 4-5 rd in DJ Higgins Kansas St 6’0 212lbs 4.49 forty Good runner, good receiver as well..A perfect match for the future( post CMC drop off , injuries , age 29 )with Guerrendo, both big backs and size Shanahan prefers..

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Hard no on Stewart. 4.5 sacks in 3 years is not production no matter how strong/fast he is.

He’s the opposite of Jerry Rice. A guy who tested poorly on the measurables, but put the pads on and he’s an animal.

A&M DE Nic Scourton (a guy I really like) is a fast-motor guy who had 15 sacks in 2 years. And he’s projected as a 2nd round guy.

If we trade down, I’d take him as a late 1 early 2.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Jesus. I made it to just now avoiding seeing the fucking head of Mel Kiper.

    QB Cam Ward pick1.

Jax trades up to get Cleve’s 2 and gets their 5 + 2nd (36) 4th (126), and their 1st round pick next year! Jax gets the 2nd pick, a 4th, and a 6th round pick.

CB/WR Travis Hunter goes to the Jags at 2. Two-way guy.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

There goes Campbell to the Pats at 4.

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

We could be in the running for Mason Graham.

    Ihopeihopeihope.

Could we trade up for him?

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

And there goes Graham to the Browns

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

The Raiders select punter Ray Guy!!

Uh, the Raiders select kicker Sebastien Janikowski!

    Not really.

Uh, the Raiders select RB Ashton Jeanty.

I guess RBs are a thing again.

  13. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Pete Carroll get his beast mode in Jeanty Great pick dude is a dawg Raider Nation going nuts..

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Fuck. There goes Membou.

  15. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Jets take Membou at 7 so it’s going to be DE/DT for sure unless they like a punter/ FG kicker 1st ..

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Damn. Banks is gone as well.

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. TE Closton Loveland to the Bears?

    Here we go.

  18. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Here we go, please don’t throw shit at your TVs,

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Mykel Williams DE from GA. Better run defender than pass rusher. But I’m ok with it.

  20. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

    Good pick

  21. Winder's avatar Winder says:

That one totally fooled me. Day before yesterday Lynch came out and said that was who he wanted, I figured it must be smoke. Williams sounds good to me.

  22. Berger's avatar Berger says:

This is who I thought we would take. It is position of need. He isn’t very refined. He is more of an all-around player than a pass rusher. We do need somebody who can set the edge. I’ll watch some film later and tell you what I see.

I’m not excited but I’m not mad. I just don’t know enough. One thing I like is he is only 21. He will get much more physical. He has the potential to be solid. I wanted more actual than potential. We shall see.

  23. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Nolen and Stewart both had issues. This is the kind of meat-and-potatoes pick I actually think is fine.

  24. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wonder if Pittsburgh takes Jaxon Dart.

  25. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Steelers go with DT Harmon so Dart&Sanders look like Day 2 picks now for sure..

  26. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Shedeur Sanders doing the Aaron Rodgers. He may drop to the 2nd round.

  27. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Simmons with the 43rd? May be worth a shot.

  28. Berger's avatar Berger says:

I’ve watched some video of Williams. Two things really stand out to me. Second, he plays balanced. He’ll be hard to juke out. He negotiates traffic really well. After watching for a while, he reminds me of Charles Hakey. He gets in the middle of plays and disrupts them, just like Haley.

He does have a tendency to play too high but that’s normal for college. He often plays low and he is always balanced. He plays right over the balls of his feet. Haley could bullrush, I did not see a play where he did that. He does initiate contact often. He also sees the plays develop very well.

My overall feeling is he will be a good one. He will need to learn to use his hands better, even though he is already starting to get that one down. He will probably start at some point in year one, maybe right away. He has a lot to learn but he looks like he has great instincts for the game.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Oops, I got first and second confused. First is how balanced he plays. Second was his ability to negotiate traffic. That just reeks of Charles Haley.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I’ll say one thing, having someone that can set the edge is imperative.

The pass rush will come, hopefully, with a little more size and coaching, but he’s 20 and has room to grow and learn.

  29. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Giants trade up into the 25th spot.

    Which QB will they take?

  30. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Dart to the Giants. Wow.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Dart has as good of a highlight reel as I’ve seen. I like Sanders over Dart because he did what he did under a lot of pressure. Dart typically had time in the pocket.

  31. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Lol Shauder Sanders and Dion now heading to Rodgers dark cave to hibernate till further notice… Dart has more upside then Sanders , arm strength, size, could he turn into Daniel Jones maybe? But Sanders is a bust imo..

  32. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Damn, the guy I wanted in Rd 2 just got taken by the Lions. Tyliek Williams.

  33. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Impossible to say who’s good or bad at this point. Or even 2 years. Unless they are terrible right out the gate like Ryan Leaf.

No love lost for me around the hype factory that Deion Sanders is. Don’t know how his son is tho. Seems like he dealt with a lot of pressure and made plays on the move.

Pretty much guarantees that Sanders goes to Cleveland.

  34. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

TJ Sanders at this point would be a great pick for us.

  35. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Will Johnson CB from Michigan would be good if Sanders is gone.

    There you have it.

    Day one done.

  36. Berger's avatar Berger says:

I like TJ Sanders. I’d rather take DT Alfred Collins from Texas.

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

played his full last season with a grade 2 high ankle sprain as well, weak leg and all still played like a 1st rder.

  37. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Kyle Posey on Niner Nation compared Mykel Willams to Arik Armstead. I’m not sure what he is seeing. Armstead was bull rusher who could not be stopped. Problem was, his first 2 or 3 years, he couldn’t disengage to make the tackle. Fortunately, he destroyed blocking schemes with his power and others made plenty of plays.

Williams is nothing like that. Willams has plenty of power, but I did not see him bullrush anybody on the videos that I watched. Williams stays balanced and does not get caught up in wrestling matches. He disengages with ease. What was very impressive with Williams is that he can pass rush but was moved inside on passing downs. Georgia had plenty of good DTS, so that is impressive that he could be a 3 technique at 260 ponds, in front of their other options. I didn’t see him bullrush but he does stand his ground. I actually saw him play 3 technique on a goal line stand and stop the play. That is incredibly impressive at 260 pounds.

I think if he stays at 5 to 9 technique, he will develop into an effective 3 down disrupter. And yes, he will make plays with his ability to disengage.

He won’t be able to rely on his power in the NFL like Armstead could, but he has a much better array of tools, even though he is still very raw. Plus, they play different positions. The one comparison is when Georgia played him inside and he was effective. Williams won’t be playing 3 technique in the NFL. Well, maybe on 3rd and 20!

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

the article said Williams is not a bender and would move him inside for 3rd passing downs. Kocourek needs work on pass rush but ready to be a starter.

      • Berger's avatar Berger says:

He bends well. He isn’t as consistent with it as I’d like to see, but most college players play too high. He stays balanced as well as any D-lineman I’ve seen. It costs him a little speed but he won’t be overrunning a lot of plays. He plays fast and under control. To compare him to a current player, it would be Micah Parsons. I think he is more like Charles Haley.

  38. Berger's avatar Berger says:

I watched a little more video of Mykel. I saw a couple of bull rushes. It’s hard to believe he is only 2 yrs old. He’s going to be a disrupter. He’ll probably be a bit inconsistent the first year, but he is going to be really good as he develops.

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

JL gotta be giddy. 34 3/8″ arm length. Now both DT’s. The downside is often injured ben Bartch the starting LG.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

If he’s anywhere close to being a Charles Haley then this pick is a slam dunk. The only thing that gives me concern is that Georgia played him with a high ankle strain for a lot of the season before it could heal. I don’t know if doing that could make it more likely to reoccur. Next pick should either be a big man in the middle or a LB. Not sure where OL picks stack up now all I know is we have to shore up this defense otherwise it won’t matter who we put on the OL. I think we can take care of that with the second 3rd pick and the 2 4th rd picks.

      • Berger's avatar Berger says:

His best game was against Texas in the playoffs. He dominated. That was after a few weeks rest, and the ankle feeling better. Texas had a very good O-line. He picked a great time to have his best game against great competition.

  39. Winder's avatar Winder says:

It wouldn’t surprise me if that RB from Ohio st. is still on the board at 43 that we take him. And that just might be the right thing to do since we are hard on RB’s.

  40. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

What did you guys think of the guy picked 2nd, he wants to play on D and O

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

He’s a special talent. His hand eye coordination is as good as anyone ever. I’ve seen him make spectacular catches in awkward positions, including while falling down. The hand -eye comment was stolen from a radio show this morning, but it’s true. I would start him on offense and then work him into some defense. My worry for him would be a short career from too much playing time. I think he will help sell tickets.
