Wow. Just when you didn’t think it could get any stupider, the 49ers are now dragging their feet on George Kittle’s upcoming contract extension. Kittle, the guy who has four 1,000+ seasons, including the last 2, and heart and soul of the team, is on the last year of his 5 year / $75 mill deal, and per the machinations of NFL contracts, is up for a new deal.
Except that the 49ers aren’t quite ready to commit to anything. As usual, they do nothing while teams sign their guys (frinstance Trey McBride signing with AZ for $19 mill per this month) and we of course have to up our price for Kittle. Kelce is already getting $17.2 per season, so Kittle looks to be around $20 mill I’d think. Nothing unreasonable for him, but we of course didn’t do anything until the market get reset. Derp.
This same thing happened with Aiyuk last year with a ton of WRs signing and upping the price, and then they got squeezed by Trent Williams when they dragged on HIS deal.
Can’t say I’m surprised by any of this as we have all seen this over and over and over, but, they look to be fucking their season yet again by dragging, stalling, and diddling with contracts.
And they have the draft. Oh fuck, this pretty much GUARANTEES we pick TE Tyler Warren. Oh joy. Fuck me sideways. Do these fucking morons think that prices on star players are going to go down? So sick of this shit.
Voluntary practices start tomorrow and Kittle and Purdy likely are no-shows.
No big deal at this point but the mandatories in early May, that’s when this shit gets real.
And since I like this song, I moved to the new thread.
They used to play that on KMPX before it turned into KSAN.
I don’t get the reasoning on dragging their feet on these guys and I try to not think they are going to ruin everything but that is hard to do.
KMPX. Man, that’s going back…
Yeah. these guys just do the same shit over and over an they are expecting things to turn out different?
This is exactly what they did with Kapernick. Sign the QB and dump everyone else. They can’t even sign the QB this time around.
Hard to think anything good comes out of this latest fucking shit-show.
The ONE THING they didn’t want this offseason was drama.
So, here we are fielding calls about trading our franchise QB and getting rid of a HOF TE who is the heart and soul of the team.
Such brilliance.
It is hard for to see it the same way that you see it. I appreciate your opinion and can understand your feelings. IMO, Purdy is going to get signed. I read yesterday that they have made good progress.
As much as I love Kittle, he is 32 in October. How long of a contract is he asking for? If he wants 5 years added on, no way. Of course, how many years are guaranteed? He’s under contract for next year, and they can franchise him.
For Warner, he is under contract for 2 more years. Worrying about that now is for ruffling feathers and selling news.
That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it! LOL!
Kittle is a huge reason why the team is relevant. Trey McBride at 26 signed a 4 year/$76 mill deal. 19 mill per. Years aren’t the issue I wouldn’t think.
Trey McBride signed a four year, $76 million contract extension with the Cardinals making him the highest paid tight end in NFL history. $43 million is guaranteed of which $32.5 million is fully guaranteed at signing. The new guarantee on the contract is $37.654 million. McBride received a $16.75 million signing bonus and his 2025 base salary, 2026 base salary, and 2026 option bonus are all fully guaranteed. If on the roster on the 5th day of the 2029 league year he will receive a $1.5 million roster bonus. The contract has annual per game bonuses of $340,000 and workout bonuses of $100,000. The extension increased his 2025 salary cap number by $3.79 million.
Plenty of TEs were putting up numbers into their mid 30s. It would be monumentally stupid to not sign Kittle. Give him $20 mill per and $45 mill guaranteed. What does it tell the rest of the players on the team. “Well, sure, Kittle is the heart and soul of the team, has given his all for all of us in the building, but you know what? Fuck him for wanting to get paid. We’re too busy counting beans.”
If they ‘play hardball’ with Kittle after gutting the team, why bother signing Purdy? I mean, fuck it all.
Let’s just go the way of the Oakland A’s and just trade players before they get their payday.
I’m good with 4 yrs, 80 mil, with 45 guaranteed. That is essentially a 2.5 yr extension.
Seriously I’m getting sick of this shit! Every year it comes down to the 11th hour to get these players signed. And then their not ready to go to start the season strong in the past(BOSA,Williams etc) now It’s Purdy,Kittle,Warner WTF? Is going on?Is Parange (SP) calling all the shots with his analytical stats breaking down how cheap these core players worth should be?
Heard Purdy is in camp along with Warner ,No Kittle.Wonder if Purdy&Warner will participate ( it’s voluntary workout) But just having Purdy there could be a good sign that a deal is closer?
In recent memory which mine truly isn’t top notch. When both Kittle and Warner got their 1st big contracts everything was done pretty much immediately with plenty of time to make the OTA’s. I could be very wrong on that though. Anyway two more stinking days to see how we play #11.
These 4 players signed their tender:
Defensive lineman Evan Anderson, defensive lineman Alex Barrett, linebacker Jalen Graham, and tight end Brayden Willis .
NJ, did you know Anderson is the second heaviest D lineman in the NFL?
They had your “fat man in the middle” all last year hiding in plain sight, but he needed seasoning and he was injured.
Evan Anderson and Kalia Davis showed signs last year of being really good run stuffers. Having a year of strength conditioning should really help them be more consistent. When we released the DTs that we did this off season, I was wondering if their showing up last year had anything to do with the DT purge.
Oops, It’s spelled Khalil, not Kalia.
One can hope. Don’t remember Anderson at all, but do remember Davis playing.
Draft draft draft.
How do ‘hide’ a fat man in the middle 12th? Put him in an airplane hangar 😉
Not helping us much if he’s not in the trenches. Hope he’s going to be a secret weapon for Saleh.

He’s definitely on the wishlist. Good size from a good program.
Seems to me if Lynch mentioned his name it is more likely just smoke. I have seen mocks where he goes in the 2nd rd. I also don’t believe that after the 6th rd there are very few sure locks they are usually gone be then. And we have struck out twice with the #3 picks in his watch.
6th non qb player
Williams stats aren’t great but there are two good reasons for that. He missed multiple games with an injury and Georgia is famous for rotating their D-linemen. I just hope he is fully healthy if we take him. I read an article about him earlier this week. I haven’t watched video but the article made him sound great.
At this point I’m not sure if this is much ado about nothing, but this did pop up on Twatter:

Note Kittle’s response. Nice clap back.
Point being, the entire journalistic world and life in general is simply about clicks. Twatter and Facefuck are the new reality.
The day Fuckerberg got rid of fact checkers, my FB was flooded with stuff about space, flat earth, fake moon landing shit, and all kinds of nonsense generated to force arguments on the platform.
All except a couple of news outlets are totally full of shit. The bottom line is God. I rarely go to facebook anymore and have no respect for any site that lies. I never realized just how stupid Americans are. We used to be something in this world but now the world sees just what we are. I don’t think there is gonna be any going back at least not in any near future. I hope everyone is happy because the majority voted this in. Anyone with daughters should be concerned
I love the comment, ‘The bottom line is God.’
Anyone with children . . .
For the record, I’d take 25, 58 and 89 from the Texans for #11
The above was from a comment at NN. Previously the only trade up possibility was Denver #20. Houston needs to replace Laremy Tunsil LT. So we could gain an extra 2nd and 3rd.
Quality scouting and coaching could make this a plus move for us. Lots of possibilities with the 4th’s trading these up
You are welcome to trash me on this train of thought. This is a rebuild year and must keep Purdy healthy .
If we make trade guesses that cause us to miss an adequate LT development prospect that can be LG->LT for this fall if TW gets injured then fall back on short pass game. Settle on day 1 and 2 picks as new starters on D.
Trading down isn’t a bad idea as we need so many players to get relevant. But it depends on who is available at 11. If Membou is there, you CANNOT trade down.
I just wish they’d sign Purdy and Kittle.
I give this a Meh grade. Find out tomorrow night what happens at 11.

NJ- espn rarely gets it right especially if Kiper is involved. They got us drafting a RB in the 3rd. that is a certain kiss-of-death and I hope our FO knows it.
Mocks are mocks Winder. Everyone has an opinion. I’m all for trench options and we’ll see how it plays out.
DJ has us grabbing Zabel at 11 which is somewhat of a surprise at 11. I’d prefer a DE there but…
We’ll see tonight.
NJ I agree. I have been mocked out for awhile. I still think unless one of the two offensive linemen fall to 11 that we should have a heavy defensive first few rounds. pick up what we need on the third day
There are just to many good defensive players in this draft to let them slip away. And, I believe we can still get a couple of good OL prospec
prospects in the 4th rd. I would like to see us get the Sac state center and I can’t think of his name right now but he’s a tackle from minnesota. Get the rb, and wr in the 5th and finish wirh the rest QB, TE, kicker
And, one of my favorite parts is the day after when we sign the UDFA’s, there is always someone who sticks with the team from there
Yeah, I remember most of us thinking Jordan Mason was gonna be a stud out of that UDFA class a couple years ago.
Funny thing about the draft is NO ONE gets anything right after the first 8-10 picks. And usually not even that good. I really wish they’d give post draft grades.
If anyone gets more than 5 right out of the 262 picks, I’d be impressed.
Yep, the key factor is the QB a good QB makes everyone better. Trick is to find players that don’t let the money go to their head. I am a little more open to DL with the first pick. Both Buckner and Armsted made everyone else better on the defense.
Draft day thread is up!!!
finally
