Well well. I guess the luster wore off the KC Chiefs after the Iggles squashed their 3-peat hopes, and humiliated them in SB MLXVII.
To combat the inanity that was the AFC Championship game that saw Buffalo get screwed on 4 different spot fuckups on what would have been 1st down plays, and likely cost Buffalo their shot at the Super Bowl, the NFL will use the Hawk-Eye system in place for tennis to determine 1st downs on plays close to the line to gain. The chain gang will still be there for window dressing, but the new system will be there for the 2025 season.
This involves using six 8K cameras installed around the field to track the football on every play. The close plays, like tennis, will show a virtual display of the ball either making the line to gain or not. So, what usually takes 45 seconds for the crew to get the chains out and measure shit will now take 30 seconds and will be accompanied by the ooooohs and aaaaaahs by the fans of the tennis recreations.
Yippee. I’m all for the NFL getting this shit right rather than leave this open to (cheating) interpretation and subjectivity by the refs.
As far as the tush push goes, the NFL rules committee talked about it and decided to not do anything about it this year. Frankly, I don’t like the play as it doesn’t really reward anything regarding athleticism, and looks like a rugby scrum. You know, 1890s football.
And again, thanks to y’all (NJ and B-Tom esp) for your in-depth draft details. Most appreciated.
Happy to share my research Chuck. Keeps me engaged for the off season.
Nerd that I am about stats π€
What fun. History redux..

Thanks NJ very cool.
No problem Winder π
Ran across this draft pick only trade with Washington. For their #29
In return, the Commanders would get Nos. 43, 100 and a fifth-round pick in next year’s draft.
Well not enough noise about Football, too many wannabe sports analysts trying to predict what the Niners are going to do. So letβs talk about those SF Giants, they are doing extremely well. Who is that guy Wilmer Flores?
Giants win! 5-1! Happy Birthday!
I like the tush push because it reminds of football roots. It is a rugby scrum. Speaking of the old days, I’m still mad at Fred Merckle.
Hah!!! Don’t even mention Preston Riley . . .
Yep!
Happy 70 Irish!!
Same.
Thanks for the birthday wishes,
