Jed York Mimics Greggie Johnson

Welcome to the new “we are just trying to break even” 49ers. That famous utterance came from the mouth of Greggie Johnson, resident coke-head and heir apparent to the billions in the Franklin Templeton investment firm. You know, those poor little rich boys who watch other teams spend while they cry poverty and small market blues.

Now we have the 49ers doing the same thing. They have jettisoned all the free agents they have recently signed and are jettisoning guys whose deals are coming up, and now want to play hardball with Brock Purdy. Yay! Go Niners! Straight to hell!

Still and all, the only one that really pisses me off is Greenlaw. Even with our pussy defense that we played last season, the short time Greenlaw was on the field, the defense was great. Natch, throw him to the wind.

Cutting Juice pisses me off as well, mainly because he’s the ultimate team guy, and we are showing our true colors by shafting everyone. else. Up to and including Brok Purdy. Mr. Irrelevant is gonna become Mr. Silver and Black. There are plenty of teams that would willingly take a shot and throw $55 mill Purdy’s way.

This team was it stands is CMC, Kittle, Warner, Williams, Bosa, and Lenoir. The rest is gonna be untested rookies and taxi squad fodder. But hey, we signed a special teams guy today! Yeah, we need it. But we also need O line and D line talent. And hey, we may need a quarterback! One injury and we are fucked. 0 injuries and we may be fucked if we piss away yet another draft.

I guess Jed figured out he wants to pinch his pennies again and revisit the Colin Kaepernick days. Those grand old days where Jed got Colin to sign a team-friendly deal as he promised to keep the team together, only to see Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, and many other get their walking papers and the team cratered badly.

Yippee.

    And here’s the issue:

They have almost $75 million worth of option bonuses they will have to pay on April 1. Here are those bonuses:

    Nick Bosa: $29,015,545
    Brandon Aiyuk: $22,855,000
    Christian McCaffrey: $14,245,000
    Deommodore Lenoir: $6,500,000
    Jauan Jennings: $2,205,000

Aiyuk may not even be ready If he is, he’ll likely get traded for a kicking net and a bag of footballs.

And the Scottish soccer team they bought is cutting into their spending money.

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

And now they toss Floyd. The 4th heir apparent to fail to live up to DeFo Buckner.

You know, they guy they didn’t bother to talk to and instead simply tossed him aside.

Just like the wet-brain trust of the baseball Giants did with Blake Snell.

I swear to God, I really think I could do a better job of running this team.

Word is now, we are looking to draft a TE in the first round. Shoot me now.

  3. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Looks like the Niners will atleast keep RB Jordan Mason as he’s receiving a 2nd rd tender offer to other teams. No way a team will give up that much.So he will-receive at 5.5M deal as a productive bell cow backup to CMC and they still have Guerendo a solid RB as well..So of course Shanahan’s bromance getting RB’s expect another RB in the draft.Maybe Basual Tuten 6th Rd maybe even NJ’s guy Skattabo red flags 🚩but who cares..

They better get more WR’s help putting all their chips on Pearsall &Jennings/Cowing?with Aiyuk still going to miss a month are longer are getting traded is not ideal

  4. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Emmanwori is a tackling machine that can also cover TEs. Wouldn’t kill me to have him next to Fred.

  5. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

I think Farrell is a good addition. He can block. Saubert sucked in that area.

  6. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Oh boy. Signs are pointing to us signing Joey Bosa.

Not a big fan of a guy who misses a ton of games like he does, but hey, maybe he’s the DeFoBu we have been looking for for, well, ever.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

GET O LINE HELP!!! And sign Purdy for fuck’s sake.

Feeling a little better about this clown show, even if I’m not crazy about these moves. At least they are doing something.

Their best ideas so far are Ferrell and Mason.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

All they need now is for Purdy to balk. That would fuck us sideways. AGAIN.

They’re lightening the Cap load in grand style to get the bottom line improved. If Purdy doesn’t fall in line this is gonna be ugly.

      • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Purdy realizes every time in the locker room and on the field he is extremely lucky to be an NFL QB. Absolutely needs the best skill players and oline to withstand a full season. I think he accepts in the low 50’s.

For his survival he needs to do a Tom Brady. His puny body demands it.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

        Montana was 6’2″ 200 lb

        Purdy 6’1″ 220 lb

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

        I met Joe. He wasn’t 6’2″. And he wasn’t 200 lb.

6’1″ 190 tops. I’m not a big guy, but I’m 6’2 and I was taller than Joe. And about the same size. I’m 185.

The O line back in the day called him ‘bird legs’.

      • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Montana played 30 plus years ago. All positions have bigger, faster, stronger bodies. Big money brings out the killer in every player .

How long would Montana last if he played now.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

a lot longer with the rules in place now.

you kidding? Jim Burt, Lawrence Taylor, and a ton of other guys were just as fast mean and brutal as these guys are now.

and in Joes time it was no holds barred.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Lol, I never met joe but was close enough to see that he was skinny when I looked up his stats yesterday I thought his weight was a little higher than it was. And it was a far tougher game for QB’s when Joe came into the league. Shit you get to close to Mahomes they throw a flag and you can’t even land on em anymore.. And it was worse during Butkis’s, and Nitschke’s time.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I liked that they re-signed Givens also. I still think 11mill guaranteed to Ferrel is a little steep for a blocker when we are letting some good football player go for less.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Maybe we’re quietly trying to get the Bosa and McCaffrey brothers together?

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Washington isn’t gonna trade McCaffrey until they got Deebo he was gonna be the # 2 WR. He didn’t go until the 100th pick. I really wanted us to get him and was totally pissed they just let him go when we could have got him. Peters is not stupid.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Bosa to Buffalo! Joey, not Nick. 1 year, $12.5 mill.

  9. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

I just read they signed Demarcus Robinson, took him away from the Rams

  10. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

    Joey Bosa to the Bills

  11. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Chuck, I don’t know why you are pissed about Juice, , he is going to be 36 yrs old, Walsh would have sat him down and told him he should retire.

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

    Nobody’s Safe..49ers release Sourdough Sam!

Whoever thought after drafting Mr.Irrelevant 3 years ago the 49ers and this F.O. are now Irrelevant also..

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Picking up a whole lot of middling talent to fill big holes. But nothing for the O and D lines.

  14. Winder's avatar Winder says:

If I was the Giants FO I would go after Vlad Jr For the 500mil. Comes out to about 35 mill a year. Fuck it. Eldridge(sp) would probably move the LF but so what. With a lineup of Chapmon, Adames, Vlad, and soon to be Eldridge we would be viable contenders. Get it done Posey.

  15. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

    Reasons to be cheerful 😁

NFL salary cap carryover numbersEvery team has to deal with the same $279.2 million salary cap in free agency, but not all caps are created equally. Teams are able to carryover money from 2024, which is essentially added to their cap space to create and adjusted cap number. The NFLPA revealed each team’s adjusted cap space today, and right now, the 49ers have the most room: 1. 49ers: $341.4 million2. Browns; $325.9 million3. Patriots: $322.6 million4. Raiders: $314.9 million5. Cowboys: $307.0 million

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

And yet they sit on their thumbs and let all the talent go.

This is akin to Kaepernick signing a team-friendly deal while Jed said he’d keep the team together. Gore, Crabtree, Vernon Davis, among lots of others, all left and Baalke shit the bed on 4 straight drafts.

And here we are once again looking to stiff our QB while the front office sheds talent.

  16. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

What a crucial draft this will be. 11 picks and for the first time in a long time they are not trying to find players for a few available starting spots, this time around they need starters at just about every position. Not much room for error.

I’m really looking forward to this draft.

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I’m really worried about this draft. Who said they were looking at TE for their 1st pick?

  18. Berger's avatar Berger says:

The Mac Jones era is here! If you can’t draft him, wait until he busts and get him without using a pick!

  19. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Holy Shit… The 49ers sign QB Mac Jones to backup Brock Purdy ..2 years 23M

Mull that one over Chuck.. Mac Fuckin Jones wow 😮 still better then Rodgers/Wilson geriatric tour for me I guess..

One less draft pick not needed to use on a QB atleast..Keep pounding Defense/Offensive lines and throw in a LB/CB/TE!!

  20. Berger's avatar Berger says:

I’m not as worried as the rest of you here. We’ve had a lot of injured players. Many have been jettisoned. We were the oldest team in the league last year. We were going to suck anyway. We have to get younger.

I admit, I was bummed at losing Juice and Dre, maybe we get Juice back when he sees what his value is. If we solidify our D-line we will be OK. It might take 2 years to fix that. Now that we have Mac Jones, our Super Bowl window just opened back up! LOL!

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

We didn’t get #6 with them did we?

      Fish or cut bait.

I’ve read some positive news regarding QB Tanner Mordecai that we grabbed as an UDFA. Shades of Steve Young in terms of speed and mobility.

      Here’s the report on Mac

      https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/

      • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Could be a pressure tactic for Purdy, but it also provides a little leverage to paying him this year vs opening up a year of competition before writing that check.

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Greenlaw is a great LB if healthy, 9ers couldn’t risk that kind of money gambling he returns to form but I wish him the best.

Juice is declining and despite the paycut last year he still wasn’t worth it.

The rest of the losses are to be expected except Collins who was worth his contract IMO.

  21. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

My bad it’s only 2years at 7M (5M guaranteed) I can live with that.Funny it goes full circle now the Lance/Jones draft date debate which every 49er fan wanted Shanny’s scalp if he took Jones …

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

I remember him dissing the Niners when he signed with the Dolphins, something about being with a talented team of winners now or something to that effect, screw him.

  22. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Funny, Purdy has more playoff wins than the 5 QBs drafted in 2021 combined. I think Lawrence leads the pack at 1.

  23. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Brant Boyer, the new ST coordinator apparently not a fan of long snapper Taybor Pepper who has been released. That’s not a money saving release, a replacement will cost the same of more.

I wonder what his thoughts are on the kicking position? I’d at least like to see some completion there, Moody lived up to his name.

  24. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well the Niners are atleast getting comp picks again for next season being awarded three 4th Rd picks for losing Ward,Banks&Hufunga, that could be in some talented young players..

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

This strategy make way more sense than us getting rid of those players to finance soccer teams. The media is totally fucked up.

  25. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

They could have kept Greenlaw. His departure signalled the white flag being raised this season.

    New thread is up.
