Playoffs! Playoffs? PLAYOFFS!?!?!?!?!?

So far so suck. I guess this is what you get when you leave the barn door open for a lot of teams to get into the playoff hunt.

Jim Harbaugh led the used-to-be-Carmen-Sandiego Chargers to a slow dull death as Justin Herbert sucked his way to a boring desultory loss, going 14-32, 1 TD and 4 INTs! Juston Herbert is getting paid hard to suck ass. I guess the Chargers thought it would be a great idea to trade their best WRs and replace them with tree stumps. Although Ladd McConkwas pretty good.

The Steelers looked way overmatched as they went from 10-3 and flying high to 5 losses in a row, and one-and-done. A pretty much foregone conclusion under Mike Tomlin these last 8 seasons as they haven’t won a playoff game since the 2016 season.

The upstart Broncos tripped over their inexperienced dicks and lost a snorefest 31-7, and the Packers proved yet again to be pushovers at the hands of the fucking Eagles no less. A team I really can’t stand. Although Saquon Barkley is just a true bad-ass out there.

Only the Commandos and Buccs provided a game worthy of watching. The ghost of Cleveland’s monumental stupidity, Baker Mayfield, gritted, ran, threw, and gutted his team to what could have been a gigantic victory, but a botched jet sweep/fumble ended up being the key play/turnover of the game. His going beast-mode on Bobby Wagner no less was a thing to behold.

Tonight we see the resurgent Sourdough Sam Darnold face off against his one-toime rival LA Rams.

I sure fucking hope he wins. Darnold looked absolutely spooked vs the relentless pressure of the Lions last week. Something I’m Sure LA noticed.

No news on any hires. Hopefully the playoff football improves next weekend.

I would like to see a Texas/Detroit SB I would actually watch that one. But it will probably be a Chiefs/Eagles game. I won’t watch that one.

    Ouch!!!

    Out of the horse-face’s mouth:

“I love the Dallas Cowboys. I played there for 12 years. I wish them well but to say that it’s a coveted job I’m not sure I would necessarily agree with that.”

Troy telling it like it is.

Jerruh is, was, and always has been, the egomaniac in charge. Hasn’t yet come to the realization that firing Jimmy was the beginning of the end for his overinflated ego.

Gotta admit, it’s the funest thing in football.

Looking forward to pissing on his grave someday. Douche nozzle.

Sam Darnald is proving he is a pocket passer and can’t do much else, flush him out of the pocket and A a sack or B a wobbley duck pass

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Darnold’s a deer in the headlights. This just proves to me that we need to improve our line. Purdy did OK under pressure but a whole season of it takes its toll.

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Zzzzzzzzzz. Watched the game with Eli and Payton Manning. It beats listening to Jack Fuck. Then again, yet another shit game.

Dallas is completely DOA. And they had a better record than us.

Maybe McCarthy can be our OC!!!

You guys might stroke out though.

  6. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Old friend Ahkello Witherspoon with a pick and a forced fumble tonight.

Darnold sure shriveled up under the relentless pressure. Deetroit showed the way with all that blitzing and pressure last week.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

And we’re complaining about our Oline.

WTF is MN expecting Darnold to do with the sieve in front of him? Rams D under Shula is legit. Starting to think a pass rusher for us in April wouldn’t be a bad idea. Either a DE or interior pocket collapsing DT would be a good move.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I agree we have so many holes our first pick has got to be on either line and maybe the first 3 or 4 picks but that probably won’t happen. I love it when Dallas has to eat it. I truly hope they go with primetime as their next coach because that has clown-show written all over it.

Chuck I doubt Shanny would ever hire a guy like McCarthy, it’s just my opinion but I think there would be some ego issues mostly on Shanny’s part.

      • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

I doubt they’d be able to satisfy his appetite in the Bay area either Winder.

Fat Mike will probably prefer brat’s and deep dish pizza after giving up the T-bones in big duh 😄

Deion and Jerruh would be a hoot however. That’s a clown show waiting to happen. Deion won’t mince words.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, kidding about the McCarthy remark. Years and years ago, around 2007 I think, I mused about the 49ers . .

    a) Picking Rodgers #1
    b) Making Mike Nolan GM
    c) Making Fat Mike the HC

Nolan wasn’t terrible in his personnel decisions, McCarthy back then was a hot commodity as a HC, and Rodgers certainly was better than Young Sir Alex.

    Wonder what woulda happened . . .

Fucking Neon Deion and Jerry Jerk off is a match made in Soap Opera heaven. Jolly Roger would jizz for a week.

Then they’d go to Hard Knocks and get more coverage.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Who’s running this show?

    From Tom Pellisario:

The 49ers will forfeit their original fifth-round selection in the 2025 Draft and will have their 2024 fourth-round selection (#131) move to the end of the fourth round, behind the compensatory picks (#135).

This action resulted from a league review that found administrative payroll accounting errors at the close of the 2022 league year that resulted in a misreporting of the club’s cumulative player compensation.

The NFL determined that the club would have remained under the salary cap at all times regardless of the error and there was no intent to circumvent the cap.

No Consolation for the 49ers terrible season but when the Packers lost the 49ers still hold the playoffs win record with 38 one better then Packers &Patriots..Most of the wins can be contributed to Walsh,Seifert,Harbaugh&Shanahan.

A solid draft like last year(Pearsall,Green,Puni,Mustapha,Cowing and adding OL,DL,Big Man Balling stuffer DT,CB,TE and staying HEALTHY will go a long way to adding on to playoff leading record next year..

As much as I think OL,DL first..it’s a priority in a pass Happy league now and Mooney Ward probably moving on I could see the 49ers going after Michigan CB Will Campbell 6,2 203 lbs 4.40 forty.Paired with Lenior&Green and Safeties Mustapha &Hufunga this could turn into one of the best secondary’s in the league, Shades of Dwight Hicks& the Hot Licks with Lott,Williamson,Wright hopefully..

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah kat-looking forward FA and the draft, we need multiple people in just about every position. Hopefully Greenlaw bounces back. Take a look at our season ending IR list and it’s just mind boggling.

    • Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Ward will be back next year, he wants to prove he can play even with the death of his daughter on his mind. If he does not have huge lapses in plays he will move on in 2026. Family is in Texas I think I heard that is where his wife went.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Playing a vanilla defense like we did this year won’t matter in the secondary AK.

We need to stop the run and give Purdy a chance to see his targets. I’d be fine with either line in the high RDs and hope for another steal like Kittle or Purdy down the line.

Hard to swallow the incompetent play they provided us with this year.

      Gotta improve the coaching situation.

  10. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I think it was the 2010 draft when we got head case Davis and Lupati(sp) in the 1st rd which gave us a legitimate shot at being a contender. We need that again. Drafting ol’s are not glitzy picks but are definitely the heart of the offense. We just got to pick the right ones.

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, the bottom of this page has the 2010 draft:

    Anthony Davis T
    Mike Iupati G
    Taylor Mays DB
    Navorro Bowman LB
    Anthony Dixon RB
    Nate Bynam TE
    Kyle Williams WR
    Philip Adams DB

This was Scot McLoughan’s last draft. Not bad. Kyl Williams of course, excepted.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah, 3 solid starters in that draft. IIRC Mays was a singletarry pick. I have a feeling we need some more Linebackers this year also. I knew losing Peters was gonna effect us but we actually had a good draft last year. He is doing a good job in Washington. I also think both Lynch and Shanny need to do a better job at researching the draft this year, they strikeout a lot.

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Looking at SB Nation F/A available players I’m not over impressed but their are a few players I could be in with..Atlanta Center Drew Dalhman easily an upgrade over Brendel and local kid went to Stanford and his old man is Chris Dahlman former Niner..

Bengals DT BJ Hill big man baller in the middle 6’3 311 lbs run stuffer who’s coming off a great season with plenty of experience..

Miami Safety Javon Holland a solid player and only 24 but might be to pricey for 49ers but if Hufanga leaves Holland would be a great addition..

Giants Outside LB Azeez Olularo SP? Good player but injury prone 1 year make good contact ?

2 picks for me due to maybe Cap issues would be Dahlman&Hill then load up the draft with OL/DL/DE/TE/QB

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

We coulda drafted Dahlman. But yeah, line help is mandatory.

As far as the draft goes, yeah, they need to nail this one.

I’m on the fence re Hufanga. He brings a lot of energy but he needs coaching up seriously on routes to tackle guys. He’s constantly taking bad angles and not even getting in position to make tackles. His coverage skills seem fine, but our defensive backfield play was spotty at best.

Mainly because we got zero pressure on the opposing QBs as the season went on. 10 picks is sad.

Lenoir lead the DBs with 2 picks. The only guy with more than 1 was Warner with 2.

Of those picks, we had ONE in the last 9 games. Terrible.

  14. Ballbuster Sue's avatar Ballbuster Sue says:

What do you guys think about Dennis Allen as a potential 49ers defensive coordinator option? I’m still really upset that I see no women posting here!!!! Especially when the NFL is now a 75% all-female audience sport! Would you guys get upset if I bring some of my female friends here, to this all-male party you have going on here?

    • Kaitie Kitty Kat's avatar Kaitie Kitty Kat says:

Sue, I personally think that would be a great option for our team the 49ers!!! I also agree with you that there’s too much male masculinity taking place here and I’ll try and help you change things. It’s clear they never realize the power of Taylor and us her Swifties have on modern-day Football.

I can’t wait for next year and dread watching this years Super Bowl no matter who wins, if our 49ers are not in it. As Faithfuls we must believe that our management will make the necessary changes and make us more competitive next year, because this year has been a poop show.

      Be strong and brave!!!

Saw a bucnh of bands there. Tommy Castro and the Doorslammers were there all the time.

I have no idea but I hope the City’s music scene is still vibrant. Used to be you could hear just about any kind of music from mostly local groups on any given weekend. From clubs to theaters some pretty good stuff was out there.

Sue, I also like this one, saw the girls in frisco when they toured with The Police on the ghost in the machine tour in 1982, it was epic.

  17. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

49ers say they are keeping Deebo but I don’t buy it. My guess is they are trying to pump him up as a valuable player to the franchise to get max value in a trade.

It makes very little sense to keep him for the final year of his contract, especially with his decline in productivity, and get nothing for him after this season.

I also felt Deebo was just going through the motions until everybody started saying he was done, then he suddenly found energy and looked like the player he used to be in the final 2 games.

Trade him for a draft pick, possibly a 3rd rounder but probably a 4th or 5th.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

If all they can get is a 4th, keep him.

I’m fine with him playing out the string. BA may not be right. Jennings and Pearsall look to be good, but Deebo can still play if motivated.

By say, his upcoming contract. This was his throwaway year.

Frankly it was for the whole fucking team.

      • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

I thought Deebo’s play hurt the Niners last season. They continued to give him the ball at the expense of other players who may have done more with the opportunities.

I forget which ex 49er WR said it but after he left he complained about the favoritism shown to Kyle’s guys, that despite doing well in practice he wasn’t given opportunities to compete for playing time. I think that’s a fair criticism, Kyle has been guilty of that.

Draft picks are essential this year with so much roster turnover. I’m not a fan of rewarding the kind of effort Deebo put out. For me I would rather cut bait and add a pick of maybe a couple of later round picks.

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Winder, KC ain’t gonna make it. Buffalo or Balt will.Seriously think Buff may finally win it all. Deetroit could if they get enough defense back.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

It would be nice if Buffalo and the Lions make it. But you can never discount what Mahomes does and the magic he brings.

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

KC has had what amounts to being a supremely lucky year.

The pisser (to me anyway) is that nearly EVERY game comes down to like 2-3 plays that can change the outcome. A penalty here or there can completely derail a game.

KC has gotten a disproportionate amount of breaks, favorable calls, and lucky bounces to get this far. I just don’t think the magic holds in the playoffs.
