Happy Talk – Cheap Talk

Where do I start? The fact that Klay Kubiak’s promotion is nothing more than a different title on his bidness card? Per Kyle the chicken-hearted:

“I thought he did an awesome job. Klay’s role is going to be the same as it’s been, which has been the offensive coordinator. He just hasn’t had that title, yet.”

Shanahan said the promotion is more about recognizing what Kubiak already has contributed to the offensive side of the ball.

Wow. Brilliant. I can see that they may not want to lose Kubiak, but how about actually giving him something more to do than what he’s doing?

Then there’s the Sorensen debacle. Week in and week out with the Wide 9 prevent defense. No run stopping, no blitzes, way too much 3rd down success for the opponents. And no changes in philosophy.

Now there’s talk of Sorensen taking over special teams. Be still my breaking heart. Move your incompetence over to that office.

My hope for the defense is they bring in someone from the outside who can give the team a completely new look and a new perspective. Given this crew, they’ll bring back Greg Manusky.

Hell, I’d be happy with Ken Norton Jr. He or Ulbrich would be fine with me. I really don’t think Saleh would came back, but hey, as long as they recognize the personnel that we have doesn’t fit the scheme we currently run.

I read yesterday that Shanny is still going to call the plays so I wonder wtf a 49er OC actually does. Hopefully Sorensen knows something about ST’s we will see. Someone said the other day about deck chairs on the Titanic, Maybe. I loved the way Ulbrich played the game he was kinda like a mini Bowman. Not gonna hold my breath for this team any longer it’s just to stressful. All about Giants baseball right now.

Interesting article on the Giants home page about the top farm systems in 4/5 different categories and nowhere are the Giants mentioned. Seems to me a lot of this is on coaching because otherwise it means our scouting department truly sucks.

Donte Wintner on KNBR yesterday would lik to see the Niners go to a 3-4 defense. Get a big man in the center. Well that works for me, any kind of change would be better than what they are doing now

9ers completed the interview for DC with Saleh today. Let’s hope he comes back.

12th I would think before Saleh would come back here he would test the waters for one of the open HC jobs, maybe I am wrong. I think everyone know how dysfunctional the Jets are and since Saleh is a players coach he just might have a shot at one of the openings. I would go after Ulbrich.

Agree NJ, Saleh will look at his HC options first, I’m sure that’s why there’s no announcement as to his hire with the 9ers.

Ulbrich D stats were worse than Saleh with the same players in the same season, shows Saleh did a better job IMO, but in any event Ulbrich would be an upgrade over Sorrysen.

At this point I’d rather see someone outside the organization bring in new ideas.

Not sure who’s eligible for the Draft just yet but I would be shopping the Ohio State DL if I were Lynch and Co.

Much has been made of the TX OL but they got manhandled.

  7. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Just read where Shanny can’t name Kubiak OC because of the Rooney rule. They have to have an open search before he can be named OC. The Niners are a fucking mess.

Yeah I heard that Winder I hope they don’t lose a draft pick over this fiasco with Shanahan jumping the gun in the hiring process.

Still can’t figure out how much Kubiak gets any involvement if Shanahan still will run the offensive schemes?

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah, doesn’t make any sense to me. I don’t know what to think anymore. It’s pretty obvious the league has caught up the us and it seems that we don’t have the ability to adjust to mix things up. I also don’t really know what’s going on behind the scene all I know is we did not play 49er football this year.

Why should I accept any responsibility for this season? I lay this mess at the feet of the fans.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Pretty foolish to hold teams to the Rooney rule when so many teams flaunt it.

And the Niners have hired more minority coaches than any other 5 teams combined.

The whole thing is becoming ridiculous. Games are just penalty after penalty and it just drags this shit out. Throw in 5 minute replays and woo hoo. A whole lot more standing around.

The finger gun 15 yard penalty was especially retarded. Taunting is a fucking joke. These guys are out there getting beaten and battered and you penalize them for celebrating plays?

    El joke-o.

Whole lotta boring games do far. TB/Wash is fun so far. Mayfield going beast mode was awesome. He trucked Bobby Wagner.

My answer to all the BS Chuck is to DVR every game and wait an hour to start watching. Blow thru all the horse shit whistles flags and ads.

I seriously can’t sit through a live game anymore. Gotten to the point of overkill already.

Pittsburgh looked like the U-Haul fleet was already packed and waiting in Baltimore.

GB had chicken little under center and Denver had McGlinchey whiffing his way through Buffalo while they were trying to find a running game.

Yes DC and TB was actually the only thing resembling a playoff game.

Rams losing out to the LA inferno might just take their home field advantage away too. Heartbreaking enough to be removed from the friendly confines of home but I’d have to assume there really can’t be much to cheer about at so-fi right now.

Prayers and strength to all those impacted.

  10. Winder's avatar Winder says:

The media is already stirring the shit with GB’s head coach. They are putting words in his mouth that he never said. I am so disgusted with football this year that I don’t even give a shit if the Rams take it all. That’s not like me.

Buffet Mike McCarthy is out as HC of the Cowgirls,(Bears/Jags others will surely interview his fat ass)praying Robert Saleh has no interest in interviewing with clueless Jerry for the gig..

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Man, the NFL is like a soap opera these days. You have player wives dictating their husband’s team status, media making coaching changes, owners whisper-shading players AND coaches, and refs just doing whatever the fuck they want to help determine the outcome of games.

Like if Jerry Jerkoff was running the league, everything’s a breathless story repeated ad nauseum.
