Da Bears . . . Da Bay Area Blues . . .

I tell ya, it’s a tough time for Bay Area sports. The 49ers are a walking disaster as they trip and fall down the laundry chute to oblivion. Speaking of laundry, our injury report is a laundry list of starters. The good news is Lenoir, Hufanga, and Greenlaw are set to return, and our D line gets Okuayinou and Elliott back. Lose to the Bears though, and losing out is a real possibility. Time for Purdy to have a game.

The Giants are calmly sitting on Buster’s thumbs as nothing is happening in the free agent market for them. The Giants brass famously said that they need to cut payroll. Cut payroll from a team that has been out of the playoffs 7 of the last 8 seasons? That’s encouraging. Not.

The Warriors, who came out of the gate looking like a well-balanced team that was realy to hit the upper echelon of the NBA again, was waylaid by the injury to De’Anthony Menton, nagging injuries to Steph and Dray, and a suddenly inconsistent bench. Buddy Hield was looking outstanding early, but lost his shot, and Brandin Podziemski has totally lost his 3 point touch. Wiggs and Kuminga are the picture of on-again/off-again players.

If we could transplant GP IIs heart into those guys, we’d be World Champs 3 more times.

Then again, if the Niner defense had GP II’s heart, THEY’D be World Champs 3 more times.

So, there you have it. The Bay Area sports blues.

Never liked this song, and hated this iteration of what was one of the greatest bands to come out of San Francisco. A far far cry from Bless it’s Pointed Little Head.

Way too fucking 80s, and the video has one stupid reference to The City.

I thought time may help me see this in a different light, but if anything, it’s worse!

Pretty much the worse song ever. Too bad too because when they put out Red octopus they still had it going for em. But by the time of ‘we built this city’ they were done. Probably too much coke.

    Are you fucking kidding me?!?

The fuckin’ A’s signed Luis Severino to a 3 year, $67 mill deal. Yeah, it’s early in the hot stove market but here we sit broken hearted while teams are making deals to get better.

If the Giants want to make their mark and act like they want to win, throw some money at Pete Alonso before Soto signs for a billion dollars. We NEED a 1st baseman.

  3. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

Yeah, Charlie, signing Alonso, T. Hernandez, and Adames (yes, all 3!) would chase those blues away. Plus adding a front-line starter. There, off season complete. Haha.

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Ben Johnson not thrilling me with these calls. Pitching the ball back 4 yards in 4th and 1 is foolish.

But hey they got the job done.

  5. Locojuan's avatar Locojuan says:

Boom, Buster gets Adames pending that whole physical thing.

Another SP, backup catcher and another 1B(?).

  6. Macdog's avatar Macdog says:

    Giants sign Adames 7Y-$182M.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Hey now! An actual signing! Don’t say ‘pending physical’ though.

In the Niners case he’ll break his hand signing the papers.

  8. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

A good start. Article somewhere said “… and Posey might not be done yet”. Uh, no shit, Sherlock. Yes, a *good* back-up catcher (almost a co-catcher to stretch out Bailey’s season), a 1B guy to hold it down until Eldridge is ready, a Teoscar kind of guy for the OF, and a front-line starter. All doable. A good start.

So Posey got off his thumbs&ass and strikes a deal for SS Willy Adames 7/182 as he got the deadbeat ownership to loosen up their tight wallets!
Great sign, a definition of a Must Need Player at a dire need of an upgrade.Props to Posey and keep it going with a stud starting pitcher like Corbin Burnes next! Add a second Bat as well for added power keep it rolling make Christmas extra special this year, and as always Fuck the Dodgers year round…

  10. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Love the Adames pickup. Keep spending the money as long as they let you Buster.

  11. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

Yeah, keep it going. What I love is how Buster said, yeah we’re not getting Soto, we’ll just grab the 2nd top FA just before the GM meetings begin. Ballsy move.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yep. Great start. So glad they didn’t get Kim. Get an SP and 1st baseman.

  13. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

The Kings could have told the Warriors about Buddy, he is either hot or not, no in between

  14. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

The Giants only position left is First base, other than pitching, I like that they are using rookies like in 2010. Need a right fielder if Yas hits like he did last year. The 20 year old 1st baseman is moving right along, we should see him get a shot in ST. The Giants need starting pitchers that go longer than 4-5 innings.

  15. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Oh and the biggest problem for baseball is no hard salary cap. I read and heard it on KNBR, the Dodgers payroll is $1 billion. I don’t want to be like the Yankees or the Dodgers and buy a team. I will take the 2010 Giants over the 2024 WS Champs the dodgers
