As bad as the season has gone, I don’t think Seattle is gonna run away with the division. Our only hope at this point is to try and beat the Cowboys, get to the bye week, and lick our wounds.
CMC and Greenlaw are still complete unknowns at this point and likely out till late November/early December, BA is gone, Deebo has pneumonia, Jennings is day-to-day, Hargrave is gone, Hufanga and Gross-Matos are on IR for a couple more weeks, and both Conley and Kittle are questionable with ankle sprains.
So yeah, things are looking up. Dallas is also beat to shit, but man, our offense was completely lost during that KC game. Granted, KC’s defense is worlds better than Dallas’s so there’s hope we can actually score. If MNason can run, we should be fine.
I don’t know. A loss to the Cowboys and we are likely down in Panther territory as one of the worst teams in the NFC.
How the mighty have fallen. This has all the makings of a bad penny year.
Not a huge Aerosmith fan, but they have some great shit that never got played on the radio,
From Irish on the last thread . . . .

This is so true about Kyle

I didn’t know TO son was on the Niners practice squad, might get called up if the Niners don’t go out and trade for a WR
Yeah, we signed him back a couple weeks ago.
We’re probably going to get embarrassed by the Cowboys. Either way, the injury excuses are in full effect.
You shouls listen to yourself, SOAD.
Our HC and DC need to go into total attack mode. If we lose so be it our game at the moment totally sucks. I bet Shanny is a terrible chess player by playing it safe you never win you just hope the other player is worse than you are.
Yep.
BA this season. 23 catches, zero TD in 7 games started. Gone for a minimum of 12 months and possibly career ending with ACL, MCL and other unspecified damage. That entire debacle of a negotiation wasted.
They really need to learn the lesson and stop doing it this way.
Deebo after his contract holdout never looked like the same player that entire year.
Bosa was also not the same player after his holdout and IMO still isn’t. Although he is the best player on the D line and one of the best edge guys he isn’t the game wrecker that Garrett, Watt, Parsons are yet Bosa is the highest paid defensive player in the league and those players also face double teams, holding etc.
The fact is players need to go to camp and pre-season in order to be ready to play in game 1. The Niners need to adjust the way they approach negotions and factor in a down year for the holdout player. In the case of BA once it became clear he wasn’t negotiating in good faith and was being a Diva they should have traded him.
Trent Williams is a once in a generation talent but BA was nothing close to that, not even first tier, and he settled for $25.6m in real money which was still too much IMO.
I don’t think the 49ers should trade for a WR, that won’t move the needle from losses to wins. Kyle must play his rookies which is anathema for him but is the right move. They get playing time and they might end up finding they have the right guys in Cowing and Pearsall.
Oh and fire Schneider the ST coach yesterday His squad is ranked 27th in the NFL and he is on his 3rd kicker after getting the 2 hurt in the first 5 games. After 7 games what has he done to alter the piss poor play of ST? I see the exact same issues in game 1 as I do in game 7.
Being loyal to his coaches is lovely, but winning games is what Kyle gets paid to do and he is derelict in his duties by keeping Schneider instead of shaking things up.
WERD 12th.
This is a dumpster fire of incompetence.
Totally agree adjustments have to be made and some heads should roll. I think the reason we kept BA and put up with his crap is that he worked so well with Purdy. But that isn’t the case this year he wasn’t getting open and you could tell he was out of shape. See ya. First line of business when the season is over should be to grab the best players available on both lines and build up some strength there. I know we have multiple weaknesses but we need to revamp both fucking lines.
This upcoming bye week is going to determine whether we’re contenders or pretenders.
Can’t see Lynch pulling a rabbit out of the hat at this point with so many issues to address.
We’re not a player away at this point either.
He’s gotta unload dead weight and get positioned for the Purdy payment.
CMc and Greenlaw are huge but Hargrave and Floyd haven’t done shit. Mooney can go too. Extend Deo.
Get me a nasty fat Man in the middle like Vince or Suh.
Rushing 4 is an exercise in futility.
Can’t understand WTF they’re seeing on film and not finding any answers for.
At least they’re looking in the trenches.

Flip’n MASH unit at this point…

Yeah its a mess NJ.
Pearsall will be anywhere from WR1 to WR3 depending on Deebo and Jennings availability.
Potential line ups: Pearsall, Conley, Cowing or if healthy Deebo, Jennings, Pearsall. Please, please no more Ronnie Bell…
RB and WR are both very thin and TE is also thin. Back up skill players have to step up against the Cowboys and hopefully after the bye week we will see some starters returning like CMC, but even if he does Kyle has to manage his reps with Mason and Guerrendo.
CMC had 272 carries and 67 receptions last year in addition to all the decoy routes and blocking which is why he’s not playing so far this year. The same thing happened at the Panthers when they badly overused him, he lost parts of the next 2 years to injury.
I get people are starting to call for a coaching change but I’m not one of them…yet. Shanahan is stubborn about staying with his philosophy and he has had great success with it by any standards. I don’t see any better available coach but if the Niners are mid pack by the end of the season I’m guessing Kyle will only have the 2025 season to get back on track.
The way to defend against his base offense has been revealed, stack the box to limit the run and play press man coverage. In Kyle’s base scheme that means the TE will be open more often and Kittle is having a very good year so far but he’s also over 30 and getting knicked up.
Kyle badly needs a tweaner like CMC so he can better disguise the run or pass play. He has that to a lesser extent with Deebo, but he also tends to get knicked up and we aren’t seeing jet sweeps and bubble screens much anymore.
To make it worse they lost BA who at least on paper was the cleanest route runner. Kyle will have to turn to Pearsall and Cowing now and I think Cowing will be something of an x factor in sweeps and screens if he’s given a chance as well as a stretch the field guy, he’s fast.
The player that is ready to stand out is Jennings, if he can get healthy. He has been underused and undervalued but that’s over now, they will have to feature him moving forward.
Kyle relies on motion to give Purdy a pre-snap peek. Spags stacked the box and gave no indication for Purdy to ponder. Hence Purdy shit the bed. All he could deduce was blitz or no blitz.
Without vet route running I can see Picks galore which showed up v KC.
Pete stymied us for years in Seattle by blasting the A-gaps and killing timing. Spags did the same.
You’d think by now Kyle might have a counterpunch?
KC also played predominantly Man coverage which also killed Shanny & Co when our guys couldn’t beat it.
The typical counter punch to an overly aggressive D is a screen play, something the Niners have rarely used lately.
The zone runs have been largely replaced by between the tackles runs too. Mason is a load but looks like he has enough speed off tackle and Guerendo certainly does.
Like NJ and Chuck, I don’t see enough mixing it up type plays. Kyle has gotten even more conservative without his best players on the field and therefore easier to defend.
Where’s the sweeps, the flea flicker, the exotic screens, the end around and so on? If Purdy can’t read a stacked box then get him into space by design with a simple high low concept more often. Change the tempo, go no huddle, don’t give the D time to substitute, dictate the game on O not read and react to the D.
Yeah, it sucks to be sitting here lamenting the same fucking problems with this team over and over week to week.
And its pretty lame that i can sit in the stands and call about 85% of the plays they run.
Funny thing is, they did fuck with KC early showing 8 man fronts and going into attack mode. They even stopped the fake punt. Of course the offense sputtered all game the D went back to safe mode.
And when that motherfucking punt was in the air, I told my buddy, he’s gonna break that up the left side. The coverage all funnelled to their left and the dude got 55 yards up the other sideline.
Niners D did enough for them to be able to win that game. Niners O giving 3 turnovers and the inevitable shit the bed plays on ST sunk them.
Definitely should have gone for 2 when down by 2. The football gods frowned upon that cowardice and the 3rd kicker of the year clunked the PAT off the upright.
Fortune favors the brave, usually.
Guy boots a 55 yarder and clangs the XP. That’s just fucked up.
This team is snakebit 5 ways from Sunday.
We should just run Mason 60 times on Sunday night. A good old fashioned Aluminum Mike Singletary game.
Robert Saleh is a consultant coach on the Packers. That’s unfortunate, Niners could have really used his help right now. I have no idea what Staley is doing for the Niners but I do know what Saleh brings to the table.
Saleh is going to be an Offensive assistant believe it not. He’s bringing a defensive eye to the offense.

Chiefs get DeAndre Hopkins. Meanwhile, Kittle, Deebo, and Jennings miss practice again. These guys all better get on the same page awful quick. I don’t want to see another night of guys running the wrong routes and passes fluttering around for picks.
Well it’s Thursday already so it doesn’t look to good. Maybe this is the only way major changes happen.
New thread is up.
