Tell ya one thing, these guys are sure finding fun and exciting ways of ripping my heart out and stomping it flat. Yet another seemingly easy victory was fumbled, picked, and out-coached by an AZ team that was fairly DOA after a blocked FG led to a TD, and Nick Bosa provided a nice pick on a wayward screen pass.
Unfortunately, the 49ers forgot how to get into the end zone. Kyle Shanahan has a really weird oenchant to throw on 3rd and 2 on the goal line. Ive seen this fail at least 5 times this season, and that doesn’t include the stupid fucking 4th and 1 throw on the goal line vs Minnesota.
A study in contrast is John Gannon. Coach of the Cards. He made halftime adjustments and started running James Connor to great success. He did it until we stopped it. Well, we didn’t stop it til AZ had taken the lead.
Shanahan? Yep. 3rd and 1 on the goal line and he goes to the pass play, which hasn’t worked. Guess what? It didn’t. Of the 5 passes inside the 5, Kittle did score on a quick slant kind of thing, but the other 4 saw Purdy running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
There’s repeating success and there’s repeating failure.
We are a Thursday loss away from being an afterthought for this season. Mainly because losing to Seattle wouldm. put us 0-3 in the division, and we’d have to deal with KC after that. Meaning 2-5 and we are looking up at a lot of teams.
Fortunately, everyone in our division is varying flavors of shit, so we could regroup and make a second half push after the bye, but This team is Steve DeBerg. They are doing just enough to lose games in fun and mysterious ways.
Purdy should never be running around, Juice was open on short routes, but Purdy was always looking deep. On KNBR Tim the color commentator for the radio said if they would go for the short pass it would be better to pickup 3-5 yards and not be in 3rd and long because of an incomplete pass and be 3rd and 10
Guerendo was wide open on the play that resulted in Purdy’s scramble for a 1st down, and Juice was open numerous times on short routes.
Not sure why Purdy was getting so greedy. and where are Aiyuk, Deebo, and Jennings on the goal line?
We really should be trying to run more in those situations, but if you are going to pass, make it a quick one like the TD to Kittle. Whenever Purdy took like a 5 step drop close to the end zone he was immediately running for his life.
Shanny’s offense down close had been solved by the teams we are playing.

Maybe the quick turnaround it a GOOD thing.
Get this game out of our system quicker.
We just have to win. In Seattle. On Thursday.
And …
What do we do for a K with a high ankle sprain on a short week? This shit is getting hard to handle.
Hope Robbie Giuld is in shape? I’m sure there are kickers out there waiting by their phones.
No idea who they are, but . . .

Purdy looks like he’s believing in his good press coverage to me. He has hit some great long balls but as others are saying, you can’t only look for that at the expense of moving the chains. Highlight reels don’t win games and he needs to play optimum percentage football. That’s magnified in the red zone where everything is compressed, running backwards 10 yards because he’s waiting for someone to get open after a 5 step drop is counter productive. That’s partly Kyle and partly Purdy.
Kyle is dialing up some good looks and getting leads but he has to close out games. There’s a common theme to losing 3 games with a double digit second half lead and it’s not only been this year. The defense turned into a running game sieve but not scoring at all in the second half with all these weapons strains belief and even 1 score would have put the game away.
Kyle is a little bit damned if you do/damned if you don’t because of the Mason fumble at the 9 yard line, he was trying to run the ball, kill clock, and stay conservative at that point in the game but he got gun shy from that point on with the run game. Fumbles do happen from time to time but Mason was getting 6.4 yds a carry.
The bye week is where teams have time to self scout, but the 9ers comes in week 9 and unless something changes fast it won’t matter by then.
Shehawks and Niners both coming off a loss, Thursday night is about who wants it more, which team has mkre pride and belief in themselves than their opponent. It’s not quite a must win but it’s pretty close to that.
We’re getting punked within the division 12th. Suggests Shanny isn’t fooling anyone? Happy to see the blitz rate go up but missed tackling is a joke.
If Geno outguns Purdy Thursday night I’m going to start the clock on Shanny & Co. Division games are the first order of business.
Time for a little Dose…
Just got to get our mojo back.
What baffled the fuck out of me is AZ came into the game 26th against the run and Shanny threw the ball 7 of the first 8 plays and we ended up with a 3 and out, and yes a FG.
Hence our (MY) constant head scratching with Shanny Chuck.
Too fukn cute for his own good of late. Wear out their D in the heat? Maybe?
I thought it was our D that wilted in the 2nd half allowing Connor to wreak havoc as he did.
agree.
Time for Bobby Boucher? Teacher of tackling skills?
Water boy you’re up!
You’d wear out their D pounding it down their throat.
It blows my mind how he out thinks himself,
Amazaing the refs in KC don’t even bother hiding their favoritism.
Yet again. Yard and a half short to 1st down!
All this being said, if we beat Seattle and AZ loses to Green Bay, we’d be in 1st.
Looking at KC’s defense tonight, Spagnolo really know hows to scheme with different looks and pressures. What is Staley bringing? Sorensen? Vanilla soft-serve.
Minnesota does a lot with their looks and defensive formations as well. And I think 95% of the folks in the league would say we have better players on defense than both of those teams.
Thought I knew my Humble Pie. Ive never seen that album before.
TIme to get Robert Saleh back into the fold. I sure liked his defense better than this one.
Saleh out Ulbrich in.
Let’s see how long he’s getting paid by Woody.

Bobby Bouchet! Pretty funny movie. Been a while!
New thread is up.
