The 2025 season kicks off with a resounding start as the AFC championship game foes meet once again as the always-close-but-not-quite Baltimore Ravens try (again) to knock off the Kansas City Chiefs. You know, the team we seem to have a few issues with ourselves.
Anyhow, should be a great matchup and a fun kickoff (what’s up with the kickoffs anyway?) to the new season. We got the band back together and for now everyone is healthy.
Bring it!
The Ravens and the Chiefs give us nothing but grief and definitely have our number. Hope we can start the season running and not look back.
My two big concerns are the defensive strategy and the offensive line.
Seeing how we played in the preseason gave me no indication that we are much different from last year. The LBs are playing back and soft, we couldn’t stop the run game well, and we gave up a ton of 3rd and longs.
Screens and TE passes to the flat were just left completely uncovered.
My only thought is they were just playing it safe and not showing the true colors. I hope.
Other than that, I still can’t understand why we can’t run a simple roll-out play without leaving the DE untouched. EVERY time we try this, Purdy has a DE in his face. Left or right, it just doesn’t work. While other teams get 15 yards off this play.
And I don’t care if it wasn’t the starters. The defense was terrible in the preseason.
I’m expecting a lot more aggressive defense from these guys. Especially Staley. he’s supposed to be the risk-taker but all I saw was LBs soft in coverage and the d line soft on the run.
Yeah, I worry about those things also but we will see what we got come Monday.
I saw a breakdown of Deebo’s restructure, the interesting part for me is what happens in 2025. His cap hit drops from $24m to $16m which give the Niners great options. They could keep him at that relatively affordable number or he is valuable to trade as his cap number is low and get something good in return.
9ers cap management is very astute.
Yeah, Marathe has been there for quite a while now.
I just wish they were faster!!!!!
You and me both brother!
I just saw the Shanahan news conference, something he threw in right at the end is Brandon Allen is #2 and Josh Dobbs #3 at least initially. What that tells me is that although Dobbs made a few more highlight plays than Allen, they came as off schedule plays and Shanahan prefers the guy that mostly runs his designed plays before going off schedule.
As for tonight’s game I’m hoping for a tie.
Mahomes OWNS the Ravens he’s beat them in like five straight times plus at their house last year in the AFC conference finals game.Spags seems to work his magic against them.
So at Chiefs house,I think it’s going to be real difficult for the ravens to pull this one out, though I have Jackson&Rice going tonight on my fantasy team so I’m pulling for those 2 to put up numbers..
Forgot to post in last thread I did see Rory Gallagher once along with Blue Oyster Cult and Thin Lizzy at Winterland SF back in 77.One of my alltime great concerts!! Gallagher is a Monster, just an incredible guitarist just lays it down With full energy and fire I was blown away!It was quoted that both Hendrix and Clapton said Gallagher was the best guitarist bar none, high praise!RIP Rory you were a legend!
Oh, man. Woulda dug that show. I saw Soft White Underbelly at Wolfgangs somewhere around ’78.
Great song pull Chuck, Shadow another fantastic song! Rory Gallagher’s energy could light up Ireland for a year!! Loved when he put his guitar down then toweled it off cause he was burning up riffs, then picks it up and immediately jams away again! Yeah that red plaid shirt I think he wore at Winterland then again the brain cells got burned out a lot back then lol 😂 Live at Leeds another great album I have still..Million Miles Away great song as well..
