One More Brick in the Wall

Brandon Aiyuk signs a 4 year / $120 million contract extension. That is all the details I have for now.

I suspect Trent Williams signs in a matter of hours.

Florida added in the $14m that BA was originally set to earn this year, not sure why he did that but it’s too early to know what’s actual other than it’s a butt load of money.

Never liked this album very much, but there are some good songs . . . This is when Roger just got too overbearing.

  2. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

The initial report says $76m is guaranteed but I suspect there will be some easy to attain additional money or its $25.3m a year presuming the guarantees are in the first 3 years.

If that does turn out to be the case BA gained basically nothing from his hold in.

I am just glsd it’s over. The whole situation turned tedious awhile ago. Now get Trent back and maybe we can play some good football.

So after all this shit drama back and forth BA gets his 30 mil 4/120 76 guaranteed.Sure bet he even whined to the very end that he had to settle for chump change less then StBrown who’s still the far superior player on all stats.

Aiyuk better put up 1,800 yards and double digit TD’s this season to justify this deal..

And yes we need the Road Grader Williams back pronto., you don’t replace the best LT in football when the seasons a week away,Pay the Man!!

Jesus. If they had listened to me . . .

    Here’s what I wrote on June 11th.

The sticking point appears to be the team offering $26 mill per and BA wanting something in the neighborhood of $30 mill. Get him signed at $30 per. The diff in terms of fucking NFL contracts is negligible. Granted, one year of BA is more than I’ll make in my entire life no matter what he signs for, but that’s the story of the game. Billionaires fucking around with mulit-millionaires.

    Put me in, coach!!!

Final paragraph says it all for me 😄

The 49ers can pull the plug after three years and $76 million. It’s year to year after that.

That’s how I read it too NJ and wrote here on the day the deal was announced. Its $25.3m per year for 3 years guaranteed.

The only thing they did for him was front load it so he gets a huge chunk quickly, more than his WR peers got up front. The rest of the contract is unicorns and rainbows at the Niners discretion.

That is the Niners MO. Butt loads of cash up front as a signing bonus to make the per year cost amenable to the team and then back load heavily on the voidable years so they can cut the player or restructure depending on circumstances.

The gamble being the salary cap goes up each year and they may be able to afford the player again.

Why this deal took so long, IMO, is BA loved the limelight and thought he could diva his way to a bigger payday. On paper he did, in hard money guarantees not so much.

Just to illustrate the point further, here are the years 2024 to 2030 of the BA contract:

2024 is $5,725,000 salary and bonuses

2025 is $11,191,000 salary and bonuses

2026 is $16,223,000 salary and bonuses

2027 is $42,282,000 salary and bonuses

2028 is $44,158,000 salary and bonuses

2029 is $14,545,000 salary and bonuses

2030 is $4,987,000 bonus, no salary this year.

The above numbers are the official salary cap numbers scheduled. In reality they moved all the $76m guaranteed salary and bonuses into the first 3 years, $47m of which gets paid out by April 2025 or 7 months from now, which is why he signed a lower per year average than he thought he was worth. He still gets to claim he made a $30m per year deal, but it’s up to the Niners if that ends up happening or not.

Don King once got Muhammed Ali to sign a fight that he shouldn’t of taken by bringing 100k cash in a briefcase to the meeting.

Real NFL football is here next week. Things that went well from my perspective so far.

A really promising draft this year that along with some strong players from last year’s draft will help tremendously when the Niners have to pay out the next 2 huge contracts, Trent Williams (probably) and Purdy next year certainly.

No major injuries to a critical player so far, despite having 23 players injured over the off season none have been to key players.

All the skill players are signed and will be ready to go.

Defense restocked the line and on the surface look to be better and also improved the backfield with Huffanga almost ready to go Nad Greenlaw at some point in the season.

I think the Niners have at least as good at shot at the SB as last year, I just hope if the get there that Kyle doesn’t do anything to clever and F it up again.

Wtf the hits just keep on coming with the Niners.. It’s been reported that Ricky Pearsall has been shot during a robbery attempt in Union Square SF no news yet where he was shot, arm? Leg?Stomach? Heard he was fighting the attacker who was trying to rob him..Updates I’m sure to follow..

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Jesus. Shot through the chest but Pearsall is in stable condition.

What a mess poor guy has got some juju on him. I guess whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Serious but stable. Wonder if he will even be able to play football.
