Cut Down Day . . .

So far the biggest names on our team are Cameron Latu, Danny Gray, and Samuel Womack.

I’ll update this as it goes along, but as we all know, Cee Dee Lamb signed, so there’s more fodder for BA to chew. The deal with Trent Williams is baffling to say the least as I thought this would have been hammered out shortly after the last preseason game.

But here we are playing chicken with the lynchpin of our offensive line.

Pretty fucking stupid in my book.

These guys, for all their acumen in keeping the cap in order and getting guys signed, seem to really not understand that the earlier they deal with these issues the better. They could have saved a SHIT-TON of money had they addressed BA in February rather than watching the WR market blow up in their faces.

Didn’t Deebo or Bosa teach them anything? I guess not.

Was just gonna post that, 12th.

Saubert looked pretty good blocking. A little surprised there. Kittle and Tongues are the only TEs.

Elijah Mitchell and Kalia Davis added to the injury list. Mitchell apparently hurt his knee in practice the other day. Wondered why he never saw the field.

Hufanga activated off the injured list.

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Yeah Chuck there are a few surprises on that list and some of those guys won’t clear waivers. Tough decisions being made. It will be interesting to see who they are able to stash on the practice squad.

  3. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

BA is listed on the 53 but not Trent Williams.

  4. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

    Kingston!

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Yeah that’s a big risk, he played well and although he isn’t ready to start on the 9ers he probably could on some other teams.

      Fingers crossed he clears waivers

  5. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

From what I’m reading, Trent isn’t just trying to convert some of his money into guaranteed cash which would make sense, but is looking to reset to market again and really get paid.

If that is true I doubt he is brought back, there’s no way they can pay an aging OT top of the market money when he misses games each year and is at a higher probability of suffering a retirement type injury.

Trent was still top 2 or 3 last year but missed games again, who knows what another year’s wear and tear and age looks like now?

He is a key player but it still has to make dollars and sense.

  6. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Elijah Mitchell is on IR done for the year. I would think thats the end of Mitchell in a Niners uniform.

Kalia Davis is on IR but designated for return.

Feliciano and Ambry Thomas are surprisingly on the 53 and not IR.

    Greenland went to PUP

    Hufanga was activated

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Tay Martin was terrible. Trent Taylor was fine. Just a numbers victim. McGill looked pretty good too.

I just heard Mike Lombardi talking about Williams and his demands and he is way over the top.

The 49ers did right by him in giving him what they did. They made him the highest paid OT in the league and he stands to make a ton of money going forward.

Oh well. This is shaking out to be a weird fucking year.

Chiefs cut WR Kadarius Toney. Wore out his welcome there too. What is it with WR’s?

  9. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Is this a suggestion that Peter’s is a key ingredient to some of our past struggles?

Not sure how much if any input he had in April.

  10. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Martin Mayhew was the GM for the lousy 2023 draft in Washington. Peter’s did this year’s for them so time will tell if he’s any better.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Peters was smart enough to draft McCaffrey. Just watch this one isn’t like his other WR brother.

  11. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Both BA and TW have a gun to the head of Shanalynch, holding out for the last meat they can extract.

Move Puni to LT and trade the two selfish bastards. No sb #6 this year.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

We aren’t trading BA. Williams? I’m sure someone would trade for him. Get a fucking LT and a guard. They have both guys under contract until 2027.

  13. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Graham , Schrader, Kingston , Womack gone. Eric Saubert is back

    per NN comments

  14. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Things that make me go hmmm.

Why keep Ambry Thomas, who at best should have been a practice squad guy this year, on the 53 with a broken arm and lose Kingston to the Panthers? Kingston is talented and was a candidate to push for playing time at G.

They also kept Jon Feliciano on the 53 but that one makes some sense as they only have 1 more designated to return from IR spot open and it’s not certain who they want to use that designation on with Puni already good enough to start at RG but depending on Trent Williams he may have slide into the LT spot and RG becomes more important again.

Obviously the team has all the info and are professionals but I’m dammed if I can understand the Ambry roster spot.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah that one is kind of a head scratcher. I don’t know how we evaluate offensive linemen but we can’t afford to lose any good ones. We picked up a safety today and probably we aren’t done.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Thomas has never been much more than marginal. And we have depth in the secondary for once.

I’d keep as many decent linemen as possible.

  16. Winder's avatar Winder says:

The fucking Rams got schrader I liked that kid.

  17. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

    Indy claimed Womack

  18. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Who do they have playing TW position? Here is my take which will not be a popular one, I say let him go. He is 36 yrs old, he could have a season or career ending injury at any time. He should have asked for more with his last contract. And the 49ers F’d up by not drafting more linemen. I know you Charlie have been harping on that for a few years now. So that is where I stand. I am more to giving more to BA. And of course next year will be the Purdy circus.

  19. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I read somewhere recently that all Trent is asking for is more guaranteed money. For Purdy’s sake I hope they give it to him.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

From what I’ve heard Williams wants to reset the standard for linemen.

Hate to say it, but fuck him. Theyhave to do something with either one tho.

This is set to derail the frist month of the season.

  21. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

We’re entering Jerry Jones level stupidity here.

  22. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:
