Good News!

No, not BA or T Dub.

Shanny said Sunday that pass rusher Leonard Floyd avoided a serious knee injury in the preseason finale at Las Vegas on Friday and is day-to-day. So, 17 days off should be fine.

Meanwhile, rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall will return to practice Monday for the first time since he suffered a partially dislocated shoulder on Aug. 6. Something to be said for the week off between preseason and reg.

Matt Breida was released. The 9ers RB room is stocked with talent all getting healthy now.

  2. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

CeeDee Lamb signed 4 years $136m. I’m sure some of that is fluff numbers and we have to wait to see the real breakdown but on the face of it that’s $34m per year.

That won’t help the 9ers with signing BA even though Lamb is elite and BA isn’t yet.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, there you go. Cee Dee Lamb signs w/the Cawgirls for four-years, $136 million deal with a $38 mill signing bonus.

Lambs has put up bigger numbers (5100/32 TDs to 4000/25 TDs) than BA but I’m sure this is the neighborhood BA wants to be in.

$100M guaranteed and $38M up front.

Something tells me we’re about to trade someone…

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Tell ya one thing. I wouldn’t have minded us keeping that punter Pressley Harvin. He was money all day. He bought himself a job somewhere though.

Breida likely signs somewhere as well.

The chips will fall today/tomorrow though regarding Aiyuk and Williams.

  7. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Pearsall better be able to stay on the field I loved the pick at first but the shine is gone he’s gotta do something. I guess Banks and his finger should be able to start. I remember the days when they would just wrap and olineman’s hand and send him back out there.

  8. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

So the early info on Lambs contract says $100m guaranteed, but we need to see if it’s spread over 3 years or if there is any guaranteed money in year 4.

If all the guaranteed money is spread over 3 years and year 4 has no guaranteed money then it’s a huge $33.3m per year.

If it’s guaranteed over 4 years it’s $25m per year (unlikely) but some money may be guaranteed into year 4 which reduces the per year real number, we will have to wait for the full breakdown to know.

As always with these contract announcements, the details really change the complexion of the deal.

Players agents love to boast about the number they got their client but the real numbers are typically vastly different.

In any event it’s a Brinks truck full of money.

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

On the face of it they can’t be waived, however the team will add the amount fined to the contract anyway, especially with a crucial player like Silverback.

      Makes a mockery of it.

I’m pretty sure Trent didn’t want to participate in camp or pre-season either.

      • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Not something he needs to participate in at this point of his career anyway 12th.

My point about someone getting traded is simply the money dynamic involved with retaining BA and Trent with Purdy on the horizon. Going to be interesting to see how, and if, they can pull it off.

Pearsall has a shoulder condition where it pops out had in college

This draft class looks really strong. 2 to 4 starters/contributors and 2 more for depth is astonishing on a team as loaded as the 9ers. Don’t overlook Kingston later in the season for spot play at RT, the kid was solid in pre-season and I can see him get some minutes as the season goes on.

Really helpful for next year as they have to reduce payroll to balance the books.

TX has zero state income tax. CA 13% for top earners. CA with one-state control will only go upward.

We cannot afford BA. See what happens tomorrow.

Unfortunate the TW saga unfolds. Both are painful and hurt the team and fans.

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Interesting. $67m guaranteed now and $93m guaranteed over 3 years as long as he’s not cut within the first year. No guaranteed money in the 4th year.

  13. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Some mildly surprising cuts so far:

WR Robbie Chosen (The Athletic)WR Danny Gray (The Athletic)TE Cameron Latu (The Athletic)QB Tanner Mordecai* (SF Chronicle)TE Brayden Willis (The Athletic)CB Samuel Womack (ESPN)

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fucking Danny Gray still doesn’t get it. Latu seemed to be following the same course of not being clued in.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Bills release Frank Gore Jr. He rushed for 101 in 18 carries and a TD in their preseason finale.

    Huh.

I’d think someone has room on their roster for him.

  16. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Except for Warner and Puni we pick for shit in the 3rd.

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, uncanny. 1 and 2 are no great shakes as well.

    New thread is up.
