And Now We Wait

Not much to do now other than speculate about our draft picks and listen to the blather around BA and his imminent contract signing. Or not.

I do like the Mustapha signing. He looks like the real deal.

I’m going to lean towards Isaac with hopes that he spells Run CMc and takes toll on opposing D.

Hey NJ,… The Niners seem to be all In with your UDFA Fat Man Ballin(NT plugger)DT Evan Anderson who they gave 280,000 guaranteed 30,000 signing bonus, just basically guarantees him atleast on the practice squad..Sidenote PS guys usually get 225K tops

Sounds good to me AK πŸ‘

Let’s hope he makes the team and keeps the LBs clean.

Read this morning that McClouhan(sp) thought that Cowing was our best find in this draft. But he thought we did pretty well overall.

  4. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

I read an interesting take on why the Niners (reached) and made Pearsall a first round pick, it was to have the 5th year option on him that only first rounders get.

  5. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

IIRC McCloughan is the drinker. Cowing is 5’8″ 168 lbs who is now has to prove himself against nfl db’s. To me it smells like a waste of a pick.

Pearsall is overrated. Natural separater et al neglects to say he has t-rex arms and will be slowed up at the line in man coverage always. BA has 33 1/2 versus the 30 7/8 of t-rex.

IMO he should have been #63 and a zbs OL like rosengarten at #31.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I always thought McClouhan was a pretty good defensive drafter but not quite as good on offense but it has been awhile so maybe I might be mistaken. Sounds like he’s got a pretty good gig now people hire him to evaluate players. And not just coaches and scouts but also sports agents.

      Projecting again?

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I guess Lynch forgot to call you. They did fine drafting 2nd to last.

I guess. We won’t know for a couple years. Well, except for you.

      • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

I think Pearsall was a good pick, fits what they are looking for to replace Deebo next year, short arms didn’t stop a bunch of smaller receivers from having great careers.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Seeing that they have 2 WRs to pay on top of everyone else, yeah, one of the 2 will be gone, and Pearsall will have a season under his belt. if Shanny can get the matchups out of Pearsall that he is out of BA/Deebo, we should be fine.

They HAVE to play this like this is their best opportunity to get the chip.

  6. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Something else Scot McCloughan had to say was that he thought Puni would play guard initially but he thinks he could also play LT to replace Trent if he gets stronger.

  7. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I tried to copy the whole thing but I’m just not that good.

The final draft pick McCloughan looked at was running backΒ Isaac Guerendo, who averaged 6.1 yards a carry and scored 11 touchdowns for Louisville last season.

β€œHe had a good year,” McCloughan said. β€œBut (he’s) nothing special. Unless he can return kicks and play special teams, I’d be surprised if he makes the team.”

https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jaylon-moore/32004d4f-4f39-1469-aeab-566a99739b64 he is backup LT currently. Puni has 4.40 short shuttle but 5.35 40 so he is slow for outside zone blocking. Read he needs to strengthen to handle DT’s in run blocking.

imo shanalynch shortchanges OT and in cya mode using noise from mccloughan

rosengarten is slightly bigger but much faster than McKivitz. he is 6’6″ 306 and 4.94 in the 40 so can do zbs run blocking that McKivitz cannot.

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

McKivitz played well in the playoffs and SB. It was his first year starting but at the back end of the year he showed real growth so I’m hopeful he can continue that improvement.

Losing Feliciano is what really hurt, he was good enough at RG IMO.

Puni can play all 5 positions in a pinch like Chuck said, but he should be a back up G in his first year unless injuries dictate otherwise or he outplays Feliciano or Banks in camp.

I would have liked to have seen a T taken too but I’m not as down on the O line as you are Tom.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

What are you on about? They got a swing tackle in Puni. He’s a versatile guy. Did I want them to draft more for the line? Sure. I’ve been saying that for a long time.

But to say Shanahan is using McCloughan as some kind of smoke screen for his draft picks is some tin foil hat shit.

  10. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

In college he was og and ot, both sides and did well. Shanahan wants ot to do zbs run blocking which both McKivitz and Puni not good at with 4.35 40. He is not a swing tackle but Shanahan refuses to draft a fully capable RT. So we are stuck with those two that limits the playcalling.

ideally puni is OG only. Rosengarten needs better footwork etc but he seems like anOT that needs development. Puni is a OG type that may be our starter in Sept. Burford gets released.

Yep, and guitar players are still bending those same notes. Makes you wonder what these old guys would do with the modern equipment available now. Their genius kept alive a music genre that a whole bunch of old foggies wanted to kill.

Baseball news, reading the SF Chron, the last home grown outfielder that was an allstar was Chili Davis, the last home grown gold glover, Bobby Bonds. This is embarrassing

    • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Technically speaking one of my favorite Giants back in the days was Garry Maddox, homegrown won a GG in 1975 started the year with SF (19 games) then dumbshit owner Stoneham traded him to Phillies(77games) where of course he went off with many more GG’s!! So maybe an asterisk? on that GG?

Fucking Cheap ass Stoneham broke up the best OF imo in baseball ever with speed, power that never made errors in LF Matthews,CF Maddox, and RF Bonds All homegrown studs!I got to see them all at the Stick atleast and they were amazing 🀩

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fowler’s pretty fucking stupid if he doesn’t see the connection between a new WR and things going on with the team regarding Deebo and BA. Pearsall was high on a lot of draft boards, but not his so yeah, how baffling.

We drafted 31. It’s not like they pulled an AJ Jenkins here. Then again, maybe they did. We ain’t gonna know for a while. But even still, the pick makes sense. I didn’t want them to draft a WR, but the top tackles were gone and they valued Pearsall and his athleticism.

Were you pissed off when we traded up for Aiyuk?

    New thread is up.
