Day One Done

Hmmmmm. Consensus is all over the board on this Rickey Pearsall pick. The guy sounds very good, he played against Purdy in HS, Brandon Aiyuk loved the pick, and he immediately jumps to the 2A WR option. Obviously this is bad news for Danny (the) Grey (ghost), our speed guy who has done nothing in his 2 year career. 13 games, 7 targets, 1 catch. So he’s likely on the scrap-heap with Dante Pettis and Jalen Hurd.

My thoughts (stop me if you haven’t heard this 1,000,000 times) are we need offensive line (mainly tackle) depth and cornerback depth. O line, because Trent Williams isn’;’t getting any younger, and Mckivitz is fairly pedestrian. Would have loved trading up to get a guy like OT Tyler Guyton, who went at 29.

I get the uncertainty around BA, but I’m still in the mode that they aren’t trading either Deebo (a giant cap hit if traded this year), or BA (a cap savings if extended this year), so they possibly could have gotten a guy like Cooper DeJean or Koolaide McKinstry, and traded up in day 2 for Pearsall.

I’m pretty sure we trade up today. We NEED a solid CB and we need one today. Day One saw all the top linemen go, so I don’;’t know what they have on their radar. I’m kinda certain they would have taken Guyton had he fallen to us.

in 2nd rd trade up to get either or both OT Sumataia and OT Rosengarten. Expect both are gone by middle of 2nd

    Shanalynch are big disappointments.

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Dude appears to be a baller so hey, everyone else is set to have their contracts expire so there’s that.

Like I said though, I think they keep the band together one more year under Purdy’s rookie deal.

  3. Winder's avatar Winder says:

They should make every pick 5 minutes.

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

plenty of mocks had Pearsall as a low 1 high 2 pick.

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

6’1″ 189 he is scrawny and prone to injury. Adonia Mitchell has a faster 40 , 32.25 arm and over 210 lbs.

  5. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Big run on WR’s to start 2nd rd so Pearsall pick seems logical where he fell too.
CB’s OL still the most needed let’s see if the 49ers try and move up!

  6. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Man I really liked CB Max Melton who just went to Cardinals who moved up to get him.Melton very physical and ran a 4.39 he’s a baller.

Teams are making moves to get their guy, Cmon 49ers do something..

  7. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

sad reality is niners braintrust overvalues their day 3 picks and treats the OL as the bottom bitch unit.

  8. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Watch us take a RB. It wouldn’t surprise me. At least this is moving along well.

Seems like a lot of people think they know more than the FO and if this were a Baalke run team I would agree with em. But we have been winning games for awhile now and I don’t see that ending anytime soon. Just because these professional jackwads who talk in between each pick sound like they know something they end up wrong plenty of times.

  9. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Trent Williams misses games the OL turns to horseshit. helluva plan shanalynch has. Purdy saved those two.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

We do definitely need a few Olinemen. I thought we would handle that during FA since it’s rear rare rookies come in and play at this level right away. I just hope they know what they are doing.

  10. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Patrick Paul, Blake fisher and Roger rosengarden gone. TThosetwo.stand their ground. No easy trade ups.

    unfuckingbelievable

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Renardo Green. We got a corner anyway. No idea on this guy.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Sounds like a project to me, I guess they think they can put some weight on him. I really don’t get this one.

  12. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I like that we got a 5th from KC though.

  13. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

After letting some quality OL slide into other teams they take CB Retardo Green a true project who’s stats are weak as hell. But they have stuck to form WR/CB with no OL Bakkentom ..Guess it will be TE next..

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Lol, Don’t worry Kat we got em right where we want em. They wouldn’t have traded with KC if they wanted that guy.

  14. Winder's avatar Winder says:

There is your IOL. Sounds pretty good too.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

0 sacks allowed in over 700 plays. I’d call that impressive.

Still got my eyes on Beanie Bishop WVU CB. Much like Max Melton RU

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah he does sound impressive. We gave Philly a lot for him to move up 8 spots we gave them our #94 plus one of our 4th rd picks plus a 7th. So they really wanted this guy.

  15. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

I saw a couple of takes on Green that were pretty high on him. 13 pass break ups last year. I wouldn’t be so quick to write him off.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I read some good things also, to get him with a second they had to like him. Most rookies coming in need a lot of reps especially with db’s.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

We will probably get rid of him next year. The window is still open.

Fucking Washington got Luke McCaffrey, Peters is probably laughing about that one I really wanted him to be a Niner.

  16. Berger's avatar Berger says:

This O-Lineman in the 3rd round looks like we go got a really good player. The CB in the 2nd sounds like a good nickel. I like the draft, so far. ShanaLynch is on a roll! Is there a decent TE and DT available tomorrow? We could really use a run stuffing DT.

  17. Berger's avatar Berger says:

BTW, I see the scouts and proggers are calling Green a boundary CB. I see him as a nickel. We will soon find out.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

The reason I see him as a nickel is that he reminds of K’Waun Williams. He was a quality nickel for us. We have not adequately filled his spot since he left. Both players are quicker than fast. Both are a little undersized and both love to tackle.

Although, I will say, Green held his own going man coverage against two players picked in round one from this year. I could see him outside. I just think he would be a natural for nickel.

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, they hit the spots I wanted them to. Just not the order I wanted.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

I agree. But, this o-lineman from Kansas has me liking this draft. I would’ve liked a different CB but 13 pass break-ups is stellar. When you watch his film, he is very quick. The WR is going to surprise a lot of naysayers.

  19. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Totally agree, Sebniner. Although we will never know what ShanaLynch really thought about Sua, he was one of the last consensus “top possible star” OTs left, a prospect for starting LT or RT. They just gave him over to the damned Chiefs. They also missed or passed up Caeden Wallace.

Puni is versatile, a 5 position value choice. Looks like he will be a guard, not a tackle. So who will replace McK, and/or Trent down the road?

above comment from NN sums it up. SShanalynch priorities put OL at bottom. Weak choices at first two picks. Those two turned a promising draft into.a dud. Puni slow but looks like a future RG starter.

everything hinges on Trent staying healthy. shanalynch needs a day 3 savior to salvage this draft, otherwise a big fat F.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Puni is gonna get a long look at LT I’d think, Tom. I feel a lot better about this draft after the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

    New thread is up.
