Gunny, the closer we get to the draft, the less and less the pronostispewers go away from the 49ers drafting an offensive tackle. a few sites have us even taking a DE. This after spending the free agency period addressing the defense, the defense, and the defense. They also seem to think we are weak at safety as the Niners were supposedly ‘disappointed’ in Hufanga’s play before he got hurt, and rookie Brown’s after. But sure, depth would be nice.
However, they did mention the CB position and how bad things got by the playoffs. That IS a concern as we were down to a journeyman . Mooney is a stud, Lenoir is a very solid guy, Thomas is decent, but we need to be stronger at CB. Depth is key.
But we still need to (I think) trade up for one of the better tackles. I know the team does so well with lower picks, and they traditionally do this kind of low-level sleeper lineman pick all the time, but the time to invest in the line with some top-grade talent is now.
DE would be fine with me Chuck
Working as a rookie with some of the vets in the locker room wouldn’t hurt.
Hoping we have this kid on the radar

My guess is unless we trade out of 31 we go DE. And I don’t have a clue who that would be. I am almost never right about any picks.
Who is Winder?
Always a crapshoot in terms of the Draft.
I see the business side of the process in comparison to the roster too.
Given the need to retain talent and prepare to keep Purdy I’m in line for keeping the QB long term. Our needs are plentiful in this class so, things won’t surprise me if a trade materializes.
And…
You know I have no problems with a fat Man in the middle π
NJ- I read where either Lombardi or Barrows thinks they will do just that. It does make sense since we couldn’t stop the run at the end of the season.
We’ve basically revamped the defense, including the coaching staff, all offseason. We GOT a fat man in the middle. Maliek Collins. Joining Leonard Floyd, Yetur Gross-Matos, and Jordan Elliott as the other DTs we have gained.
We NEED offensive linemen. I’d trade up.βAnd I’d draft 3 at least. And 2 CBs.

NJ, if we were struggling at all with the QB position, Shanny and Lynch would be history and lunch.
It is one of the worst trades in NFL history.βMaybe even sports history. They saved their own skin by getting Purdy.
The one consolation to all this is all of the other QBs drafted in 2021 are struggling. Zak Wilson flamed out in New York and was traded to (LOLOLOLOL) Denver. Where QBs go to die. Justin Fields is on the Steelers after flaming out in Chicago. Trevor Lawrence had an amazingly rocky 3rd season as the Jags lost 5 of their last 6 games and missed the playoffs as Lawrence battled through numerous injuries.
So, none of that highly touted group has shown out well. Although Lance has not had a chance, and Lawrence should be fine next year if he can stay off the IL.
Took away several years of progress and several Picks between Jimmeh and Lance Chuck.
Not to mention saving Lynch and Shanny to pull that rabbit out of the hat.
To say Purdy was a lightning strike of good fortune is an understatement in itself.
I’m all for getting a long term deal for him and adding some new rookie Contracts to offset the ledger.
OT/DT/CB/S likely, maybe TE/WR (if we lose BA), in no particular order. Get the BPA at positions of need and roll with it.

Pretty cool.
See below. 25 or 6 to 4 sripped to guitar vocals and horns. Crazy solo.
DIdn’t know Hendrix played this big a part in their early success.

Nice. Saw them at the Fillmore in 68/69 and they were pretty good. Pretty much every group I really like is getting old or dead already.
The 60s were a long time ago. Saw them in 1975. My first OD on the Green. Chicago/Beach Boys.
Epic day. Chicago was kick-ass. 14 at the time. They were one of my first favorite bands.
75 was a long time ago too. But they did get better as time went on. When I saw em they were the 3rd act behind Santana, and Big Brother. But I remember they were still good.
Shit, seeing Janis would be something special.βMy older sister got drunk with her just walking around Haight St back in the day. She saw all the bands. She saw Zeppelin’s first US tour when they were 3rd bill. Hendrix, the Doors, Cream, Quicksilver. Man, missed it by 5 years.
Yeah, Chicago was pretty much at the top of their game in ’75. It was a fantastic show.
Sounds like I would have liked your sister.

They’re holding some top 5 picks after all.
At this point it’s hard to tell how much smoke is coming out of Aiyuk’s and the Niners camp. First thing I thought of when I read what Lynch had to say yesterday after he said we want Aiyuk to retire a 49er was that was probably the kiss of death for keeping him.

Well I don’t know what I did but it says it’s an invalid address.
Good article on Adam Peters in the Athletic this morning. I am pretty sure he will be missed in our draft room. But in the article is shows just what the Niners look for in players. I hope whoever replaced him is just as capable and not a Baalke type.

trade BA at #17 to JAX
his wants are now team cap wrecking.
no more of this.βThey know what it takes in a rookie wr to beat the press.βDraft him at #17.βCoaches justify your overpaid asses. Kittle, CMC, Deebo are there also.
Yeah, trade Purdy while we are at it!!!
New thread is up.
