Erstwhile underachiever Randy Gregory is looking for greener pastures in Tampa Bay as we showed no interest in keeping him, and Brock Wright was matched by the Deetroit Lions, thus depriving us once again of a backup TE that can get more than 3 catches a season. So that makes those mid-season acquisitions look like the shots in the dark that they were. Hey, worth a shot as they did OK but didn’t turn any heads.
As far as backup TE goes, Woerner is gone, flying south to the Falcons, Ross Dwelley isn’t signed, Latu is coming off the IR, and 7th round pick Brayden Willis has had some special teams success, but backup TE is still a bit of a void.
We did however (huzzah!) sign backup RB Patrick Taylor from the Packers.
This hopefully breaks the mold of drafting a worthless RB in the 3rd round a la Joe Williams, Trey Sermon, and Price-Davis.
Love me some early Lemmy . . .
Still trying to figger out how the new wordpress works. It sometimes posts videos and other times doesn’t.
If you let the video go, you get the amazingly weird Space Ritual by Hawkwind. That and Doremi Faso Latido are embedded in my early stoner brain as the songs of my 8th grade life.
As far as RBs go though, Taylor is behind CMC, Mitchell, and Mason so he’s gonna be strictly mop-up duty.
I haven’t spent a lot of time paying attention to what the Bills need in the draft, but they have lost Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason. It is safe to say receiver is at the top of their list.
the above from musiccitymiracles.com puts bills as a BA trade possibility
whatever happens up to BA and his agent. No later than April 25
Bakkentom..You really have an obsessive hard on getting Aiyuk traded off the 49ers.Its not going to happen imo.Trading Diggs( a cancer premo Donna) and Davis away tells me Bills are in total Rebuild mode and draft 2 new young receivers in the draft first.
chuck-love the video, true pioneers.
he is going to want 27 to 30 mil per year. can our roster handle that. WR is a high injury position.
we screwed ourselves with the deebo overpay. how long can our cap withstand those two contracts. Bend not break. Trent, Bosa, Deebo and soon BA and Purdy. Top dollar from each contract.
when are we going younger and cheaper.
31 other GMs would love to have Deebo on their team.
yeah, at 10 mil per year. insane what the so called elite WR gets.
What would Walsh do in our situation? Sell high buy low maybe. Can we get a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd in 2024 picks for BA.
Buying puts on BA is what Walsh would do. Injury risk is higher for WR. Get his successor in second half of 1st .
Shore up the OL in pass pro and all skill players are there it is safer and prudent to do a plug and play with BA. With the strong draft class this year now is when Walsh would pounce. Easier to develop the rookie.
Hate to say this but BA and his agent are going to be real hard to deal with. Trade will happen day 1.
Buying the BA put should pay off big.
2025. One more year is all we need. Maraathe can figure out how to sign BA. We worry about 2025 in 2025.
Look at the Rams. They sold their future getting Goff and traded a ton to get Stafford. They’ve signed guys, traded guys, tossed guys, but have still been relevant. They’ve been up and down but have a Super Bowl and a couple playoff appearances to show for it.
This is the dilemma on BA. He’s under contract and very valuable now.
If you can’t afford to keep him you have to get something for him before he walks.
I agree with BT in the sense that you can’t pay everyone and, you haven’t gotten over the hump with the roster as is.
Wouldn’t shock me to see a deal involving BA or Deebo to get better positioned for Purdy ‘s extension.
I could see it as a way to get up the Board from 31 for Trent’s understudy or another TE.
We’ll see soon enough.
IMO the reason we’ve come up short in the big one is the pass protection issues.
Protect the QB. Sack the QB.
If they feel ‘that guy’ is on the Board and getting him means dropping a heavy contract to do it, I don’t think it’s off the table.
Been saying that for years, NJ. They don’t pay enough attention to the O line. Just because Purdy is good at escaping pressure and extending (some) plays doesn’t mean we should leave him hanging out there.
With all the picks we got, I see a lot of trades during the draft. Deebo is gonna have to get us a lot to move him. He buys us nothing in salary to trade him this year.
2025 will see the departure of a lot of the core guys so they have this season to go for it with the current group of stars.
They are, as can be seen by all the moves around their defense and the rebuilt coaching staff. So they just need to get BA signed and deal with the salary cap next year.
Chuck, Purdy and QB money will be astronomical.
I’m in favor of the status quo but for BA money likely to be involved.
Deebo holds an enormous amount of Cap money and is missing games with injuries. Signs he’s breaking down. Ss Walsh always preached, better a year early than late.
Gotta fortify the O-line. If dumping a heavy contract does that, why not?
Maybe they can defer Purdy’s salary. If the dude is as grounded as he seems to be, maybe he will take one for the team. I don’t see him saying “give me the moon or I walk” but he is gonna get a gigantic deal.
Unless the wheels fall off. The top 4 guys all make over $50 mill.
Dak’s deal will tell us a lot. But do you really see dak getting anything more than these guys?
This is total deal, yearly salary, and end of contract. Dak makes $29 mill now I think.
Joe Burrow Bengals 28 $275,000,000 $55,000,000 2030 Void
Justin Herbert Chargers 26 $262,500,000 $52,500,000 2030 UFA
Lamar Jackson Ravens 27 $260,000,000 $52,000,000 2028 Void
Jalen Hurts Eagles 26 $255,000,000 $51,000,000 2029 Void
If Dak gets, say $55 mill, will that bump Purdy up to $58 mill? Christ, he’ll be all of 25 when this shit goes down.
I’m assuming by him you mean BA?
Deebo does have an opt-out in 2025.
BA
In the end, we need a Trent replacement a solid RT and a tier 1 CB along with a more reliable KR.
Adding another TE qualifies too. Latu isn’t a proven commodity at this point either.
OGs and a Center are all Day 2 and 3 options.
Gotta get it right on Day 1 no matter the cost.
Shit, where did I post that we need to draft for both tackle spots and a center?
It went bye bye. We have a little more interior depth than on the edges. But we should trade up with all those picks we have. I see a lot of action by Shanalynch.
I didn’t think they’d be this aggressive with the coaches or the players.
So far so good. Beef up the O LINE!!!
PTQB/STQB
Its all about the trenches for me too

unless we trade up at #31 Guyton and Jordan Morgan may be there.
Plenty of buzz spinning for a BA deal to Pittsburgh with the departure of Diggs.
We shall see…
Should say with the recent deal for Diggs.
Pitt has the opening and Diggs’ deal being used as a comp model.
NJ-It’s pretty much apples and oranges. Diggs is getting old and he has been upsetting team chemistry for a while now. Buffalo only asked for a 2nd. The Niners own BA for the next couple of years if they want. They will have to pay him but he has been our most productive WR in over 30 years( or close to it) and Purdy trusts him. I don’t see a trade at all. The Media is so full of shit, they try to work the sensational route without knowing anything. If we were to get rid of any WR it would be Deebo.
Winder they need to generate debate if nothing else. I’m with you regarding the either/or premise too. Comes down to Cap-enomics and controlling the destination.
AFC most likely, with NYJ being my choice simply for Draft slots they hold. Something likely to happen soon if it’s gonna happen.
hope it is soon and cap-enomics to the extreme. Maraathe must be going dingy.
Don’t get attached to players. BA is busting the.cap for the team. A 1st and a 2nd or 3rd for 26 yr old, never injured WR1.
At end of first Adonia Mitchell and Brian??? are 6’3″ 4.35 40 future WR1.
Fuck BA and his agent.
Sorry. Guys like BA don’t grow on trees. See AJ Jenkins, Jalen Hurd, Dante Pettis, and Danny Gray for recent examples of WR busts. They know what they have and they should pay. This year is the last year this team will be this talented. They are gonna shed guys once Purdy’s contract kicks in so the time is now.

Love that album.
That and Apostrophe’ were high school faves.
I’ll move this to the new thread.
Tina Turner and the Ikettes are the uncredited backup singers on this as Ike read the lyrics and told them all to leave. He didn’t take the money or want their names on the album.
New thread is up.
