I need a fricking scorecard to keep up with the doings on these 49ers. Since Eric Kendricks gave up on his shot to win a Super Bowl and instead picked Dallas, the 49ers signed De’Vondre Campbell, recently on the Packers. Gone is Ray Ray McCloud, AA signed a 3 year/$51 mill deal with the Jags, the Niners signed CB (mainly special teamer) Chase Lucas from the Lions(and yes we need special teams help desperately), and we re-signed Jose feliciano, the only blind NFL player in history. This of course on top of all the other moves from 2 days ago.

The Niners also restructured Jason Hargraves, Fred Warner, George Kittle, and Kyle Juicechick’s contracts to free up $36 million in cap space. Surely the piper must be paid, but that is for 3 years down the road. The future is now, the house is built, the window is open, and we need to kick down the door soon with this current crop of players.

I’m out of house-as-a-football-team metaphors, but you get the idea. All these moves make the team better, but they really (once again) have paid very little attention to the offensive line. And rthe defensive backfield.

I’m very happy with these moves, mainly because AA was on his last legs, and we saved a ton cutting him before June 1, but we NEED offensive line help, if not more help in the defensive backfield. Ji’Ayir Brown played very well when thrust into the starting role with Hufanga’s injury, and having both of them available will be great, but Gipson is 32, Ambry Thomas is inconsistent as all get-out, and CB is another spot that has been fairly neglected but for Mooney Ward. Like Trent Williams on the O line, one big spend and ignore the rest.

It seems like every draft I scream “O line help and CB depth!!!” To no avail. And I’m talking since the Nolan era.

Brought to you by Buck Naked and the Bare Bottom Boys . . .

I think these guys are touring again. Got to check it out.

From the last thread, Pissburgh parts ways with Kenny Pickett. Teams just don’t seem to be showing the patience they once did. The recent crop of QBs these past few seasons, minus Purdy and Stroud, has been less than extraordinary.

    There you go!!!

Wow. The Niners signed Isaac Yiadom from the Saints. He had 14 pass breakups last season. 7th year guy who worked his way up from special teams to being a stud corner. Love it.

Took Marshon Lattimore’s spot when he got hurt, and never looked back.

  4. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Phenomenal, he is a starter at CB2 opposite Ward. Lenoir stays in slot.

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. Jimmy G to the Rams?

    lolololol!!!!!

Never heard of Yiadom, but he is a player. Great great signing.

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah he’s doing it the hard way he’s been on 5 teams in like the last 5 years. So he must not have impressed very many people. But I think he’s a late bloomer so lets hope he pans out.

  7. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well one thing for sure Issac Yiadom is doing something right cause his Girlfriend is Smoking Hot!!! named Savannah Montaro with over 1.5M followers on Instagram. She will fit it nicely with the 49ers wives and girlfriends..

    Another Walsh memory

Randy Cross once told a story about Bill Walsh as telling him “You won’t finish your career here, because I only want your good years.” In the same video linked above Steve Young said Bill Walsh’s philosophy was “I want players off my team a year before it’s too late.”

The first 6 OT probably gone around #20. The next 2 may be available for us. Jordan Morgan ready to start rookie year. This guy needs development.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I think Oline is the hardest position to master and very few can just be plugged in right away as rookies. It’s probably the most cohesive unit on any team. With our scheme speed and agility are major factors. Although I like the Iupati type and we could sure use a guy like him right now.

  10. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Bears just got rid of their tre Lance for a 2025 6th rd pick. Justin Fields to Pittsburgh Steelers.

  11. Winder's avatar Winder says:

We lost Burks. That is fucked up.

  12. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Maybe the best trade option of all could be Brandon Aiyuk; the 49ers already have a lot of money invested in Deebo Samuel, and would probably feel comfortable in Kyle Shanahan finding alternatives to fill his role in their offense should he depart. Potentially coming in a tier below Jefferson and Higgins money–wise, his multi-faceted game would add an extra dynamic to the Jags offense. One to watch

The above has both sides aware and ready to talk. The jags lost WR1 Ridley to the titans. Can we get a 1st and 2nd.

Deebo was.clearly wr1 and jerks in negotiations. If aiyuk does the same then do the trade for #17 and their 2nd or third.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    We ain’t trading Aiyuk.

  14. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yeah they’re not trading Aiyuk no way.If anything they’re creating more cap space/salary for his signing.

Though I guess u can’t say it’s certain? Hell most all believed that they would not get rid of Lance, but they bit the bullet, owned their fuck up and moved on..

  15. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Real simple and here is the truth.

    https://www.ninersnation.com/2024/3/17/24102516/49ers-draft-news-rumors-outlook-kyle-shanahan-importance

Deebo had leverage and the selfish bastard used it.. Filling the void of WR1 he held and squeezed max dollars to training camp. Had a mediocre season or two.

Now it is BA’s turn. Deebo still here. Will the overrated shanalynch allow it again.

  16. Winder's avatar Winder says:

They both still have a lot of value and should be on the team this year imo.

    BA: 75 rec. 1342 yards 17.89 avg 7 tds.

    Deebo: 60 rec. 892 yards 14.87 avg. 7 ads.

It’s obvious that BA is Purdy’s go to guy. but deebo is a defenses nightmare. They are both still in their prime. and we have a lot of draft picks this year, we will be alright as long as the injury bug is limited.

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

I don’t watch the games, just read. Deebo had his breakout and contract year in 2021. It took a big physical hit on him. He took out his anger on getting the best contract possible.

But now with all the skill players around him, he makes too much.ideally would like to see him traded for the Ravens 1st, #30. Get the best WR with that.

BA needs to be team first and get his best deal before day 1 of draft. Our picks at.#31 and 63 have to be RT and RG.

      • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

We have to use the draft to get younger and cheaper. AA this year, Deebo next year. With a complete team like this it makes it easier to get a 1st rd receiver productive. All we really lack is RT and RG.

  17. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Given the recent moves in FA and looking toward the Draft I have a clearer view of the immediate Cap situation.

    BA Purdy and Deebo.
We can’t afford BA and Deebo at the expense of Purdy.

If I was forced to part with 1 right now I’d be happy to have the best offer to move up for a rookie contract on an OT CB or WR in order to keep Purdy long term.

  18. bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Purdy utilizes everyone in the offense . He sees the full field and knows where receivers are at. It’s early but can he be considered a young drew Brees 2.0.

Hard to draft but the new RT, RG , and OC need to be larger for pass pro yet fast enough for outside zone. The current starters are 300 yet slow in the 40.

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

Such as in the 40 a lot of the projected 1st rd OT’s around 5.04 but burford 5.19, McKivitz 5.35, and Zakelj 5.13.
