Not much going on with either the 49ers or the Giants. The combine starts this week so you’d think the Niners would want a defensive coordinator in place when that goes down.
As for the Giants . . .
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The Oaklandcisco GiAnts are fully ready to hit the season with ONE bona fide starter and a boatload of this in the rotation and the pen.

On your feet or on your knees, the baseball season is coming.
And, NJ, whatever draft insights you provide are most appreciated.
Same to you, Tom.
The latest salary cap space and Titans need 4 new OL starters, redskins maybe all 5 , and NE needs a lot.
Most
1. Titans $90,085,811
2. Commanders $80,910,847
3. Bears $78,173,392
4. Texans $77,251,212
5. Patriots $75,857,306
Draft or trade our only way to go?
If they opt to trade BA, which is being speculated in many places, I would hope he goes to the AFC.
Don’t want to see that happening but, money is money and you have to see the big picture of retaining Purdy long term.
Protect the QB.
Sack the QB.
Trench fortifications DE/DT and a CB make the most sense for me.
Greenlaw replacement as well.
He’s not going to be 100% anytime soon.
If we cannot play the FA game next month we could lose out on the first 6 or so OT in 1st rd that can be starters. Plan B would shift to drafting best IOL and develop Nick Zakelj for RT and possibly Jaylen Moore (too short?).
We can probably use first two picks on C and RG with both rookies starter capable.
Scouting and building draft boards is the ultimate goal.
My feeling is we are stuck way back at #31 so good quality starter OT will be gone so draft C and move Jaylen Moore to RG and Zakelj to RT.
Do not reach on picks. Draft board both need and bpa based.
Gotta remember Joe Staley came at the tail end of the Draft when we traded with Bill. Talent can be had if you do a good job in the Scouting phase.
I’ve been more comfortable with our mid-round picks of late to be honest.
We might be in the market for an Arik replacement too. He’s starting to show signs of breaking down.
Call me underwhelmed…

Very possible that they will use Combine to interview with other options in attendance?
I guess it’s possible, but you’d think they want to have their DC looking at potential draft picks.
Good Goddamn FUCK NO in all eternity to Staley. Jesus. Are they serious?
And I’ll die on the hill that they keep BA. AND Jauan Jennings.
They saw how not even giving DeFo a call bit them hard in the ass when they thought they could draft his replacement.
Trading Deebo is a non-starter as he’s a huge cap hit if traded. We have Purdy on a rookie deal for 2 more years, but negotiating his extension starts at the end of next season. So we can work out something now for the short term and worry about 2025 after next season. This isn’t the time to start shedding talent.
Read that Laken Tomlinson(sp) was cut loose by the jets. I would take a look.
If he is still considered good enough we most likely get out bid. WAS has a shit ton of money and Adam peters.with a terrible oline.
If WAS pick at.#2 in 1st rd is QB Drake Maye they will want Laken if he is any good. They will outbid us. The best of their garbage is Cosmi at RG.
Hmmm.
Offensive linemen? If the 49ers are desperate at right tackle, they could trade up for Oklahoma’s Tyler Guyton, who’d be a good fit in San Francisco’s run game.
The above has been mocked to us. There are unflattering comments on his consistency on film. Our scouting on him has to be thorough and can he good in nfl.

Here are the bad comments from guys that watch college film. Can coaches work with guys like this to be a quality starter in nfl and zone blocking. At least with drafting IOL the good ones are there in 2nd rd and late 1st.
In Shanny’s ZBS I look for guys that perform well in the shuttle drills in Indy along with split times.
I recall Walsh and McKittrick having guys take ballet instructions too for that reason.
Smaller quicker guys can use leverage to compensate and get better angles on the move.
Trent is extremely nimble for his size. Rare combination.
Change of direction drills are indicative of good balance in general and a definite plus for any OL prospects IMO.
I’ll be watching to see who stands out later in the week.
Round 1, Pick 31
Tyler Guyton – Right Tackle – Oklahoma
Although Guyton is raw, he has good footwork and power to dominate in pass protection and run blocking. In 2023, Guyton gave up zero sacks and 12 total pressures. He can play both left and right tackle.
The above is wayne brown of 49erswebzone.com gushing take versus the forum comments.
Saw this kid at the Senior bowl and some people mocking him to us.
Likely not going to be around at the end of RD1 but you never know. Very light on his feet.
NJ- In the late 70’s and early 80’s the Oline pre game used to look like a stretching/dancing routine. There were definitely some ballet moves in it. I remember Cross would be smiling through the whole thing.

Future center at #31
Still no DC but we still have AC/DC.
God DAMN I miss these days. Saw Bonn 3-4 times. Always kick ass.
I know what you mean. I was thinking today after listening to the first two Country Joe and the Fish albums that I still love this shit. And I know they aren’t the greatest musicians/band but what they did they did really well. None of the new stuff even comes close to me. I guess that’s a real sign of getting old.
Old farts RULE Winder 😀
Our music came from a time when protests were part of the music.
Now you need firepower it seems.
Long live R&R.
I like the way MLB is scheduling games now. We finish up playing the Dogs and Rockies in July and finish up a three game series with the Pads and AZ in Sept.We don’t play any division game in Aug. I just hope we have some fun this year.
Had to step away from Football for awhile. Anyway I compare the two losses to KC to the two wins against Cinny, and Sam Wyche, especially the second game, I heard a clip of Sam commenting he was :34 seconds away from a SB. And Montana hit John Taylor in the end zone. Right now KC is the 49ers Kryptonite. And Kyle reverted to the 3 loss games. How can you not see the KC end needed yo be double teamed. He was on Purdy constantly.
Just saw a piece from Lombardi that they interviewed KC Asst coach David Merritt for DC position.
Interesting to say the least.
The old ‘if you can’t beat’m join’m’ maneuver I suppose.

Niners looking to restructure Warner, give him an extension, and free up 12 mill in cap space.
Marathe for all his weirdness is a wiz at salary manipulation.
Giants… I almost wish they were “standing pat”. They’re going backwards. They said they were going to bolster the starting rotation, try to get away from openers (at least most of the time). Now, with their inability and/or unwillingness to land good starters, they’re talking about a 2-starter model. All the rest, bullpen games. If that’s the way they go, that honestly might be the last straw for me. I’ll come back as a Giants fan after Z is shit-canned as far away from SF as possible. Ugh. IF that’s how they go. Let’s see what happens…
Yeah, they pay lip service to improving. But this has more to do with owners (Greggie) who don’t want to pony up the big bucks for front line guys.
