Christian McCaffrey – AP OPOY – Patrick Willis HOF!

Pretty cool. The AP wire named CMC Offensive Player of the Year, beating out Tyreek Hill among (Purdy, Lamar Jackson) others, and Patrick Willis, one of my favorite players of all time was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

I’m a little shocked because his career wasn’t very long and was sidelined by injury, but when he was on the field, he dominated. Very very happy for him. There’s a video out there of BY breaking the news to Willis that is just awesome.

In other news, in addition to the field shenanigans, the 49ers got an early wake-up call in their hotel, with a fire alarm going off at 6:03 am yesterday. Thing is, they wake-up call is at 6:10, so it was 7 minutes early, but it is yet again another stupid sidelight to the supposed tight ship that Jolly Roger purports to run. The field situation is a joke, as the league can’t get a suitable practice field ready and available for one of the teams in the biggest game of the year? Total joke.

Remember last year’s Super Bowl in Arizona? Players were slipping and sliding all over the place? George Toma, our “sodfather”, said the field was overwatered and not left out to dry long enough, leading to the sloppy conditions. Once again, there’s a issue with a field on the biggest game of the year.

Neither are huge deals, but then again, it is a terrible look for Goodie Goodell, the $86 million man, to have these amatuer-hour things happening on his watch.

This’ll be used as fodder by Shanahan, so this will hopefully give the team a little more fire in their collective souls to dismantle the chiefs.

Huge congrats to Patrick Willis. I am so happy for him. Would love to see NaVorro Bowman go in next.

So cool! Both those guys are true pros and are very worthy of the Hall of Fame.

Thanks for that video. I am so happy for P. Willis to me he is what all Pro football players should be like. Tough guy that did it with humility and class. Both him and Gore mades those 49er teams watchable. You don’t get players like Willis very often.
Also glad to see that CMC got his just due. This 49er team is special.

Hopefully Staley gets the next one.

Man, i wish the SB was in New Orleans this year, because i am. Happy Mardi Gras y’all and go Niners.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah I read that New Orleans had this SB scheduled originally but the city thought it would interfere with Mardi Gras so it ended up going to Vegas. Hopefully the storms hold off and the party goes on.

Thanks, Winder. Bacchus, a huge parade rolls during the game, i think i think i have a place to watch the game and still get some cheap plastic beads. Go Niners, im goingto be surrounded by Saints fans so im nervous as hell.

Wow. That would be insanity rolled into more insanity!

Jet (who?) McKinnon is questionable for Super Bowl LVIII.

Joe Thuney and Prince Tega Wanogho (IR) are out.

Got to pressure Mahomes ealry and often. Get the Marino Pout going.

Reading fluff pieces, BA was 5’3” his freshman high school. Other stuff in the article also, it is in Niner Nation

I’m not a gambler, I don’t understand how the Niners are favored. Yes, Vegas is supposed to be smart, But, every sports radio show I hear that is not based in the Bay, the vast vast majority say that KC is essentially a shoe in to win. And, they give a verbal beat down to Purdy like he’s some sort of criminal masquerading as a pro QB. WTF? I want the Niners to win, even moreso just so Purdy can give a metaphorical middle finger to the lemmings and clickbait fools of most of US sports media. The final straw was somebody asking Purdy — some folks say you look a bit like Lee Harvey Oswald – what to you think? I didn’t find that amusing. The kid gave a great, appropriate response, akin to “whatever”. I think Shanny and the boys are in tough against KC, and that D line better figure things out (else it won’t be a good afternoon), and they really need to buttonhole Tay Tay’s boy toy, but I’m still saying “Go Niners”!

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I don’t understand how we are favorites either. Even the people at GMFB think we don’t have much of a chance. I don’t get the Purdy criticism that’s continually being said. To me it’s obvious the kid is special and the stats just keep proving it. Go Niners

Am wondering about the football iq of chase young. All eyes are on him this game. Prove it time. Set the fucking edge.

Physical talent not enough in nfl. Has O coordinators exploited your deficiencies.

Vegas knows more than the talking heads all around the world. The babbling sheep follow each other’s lead.

I’m leery saying this but I think we cruise to victory. Compared to the 2019 teams, we are far better offensively and equal, if not better at corner defensively.

DC is the only worry of mine.

    • bakkentom's avatar bakkentom says:

I agree. We are healthy minus the good edge sett[ng clellin Ferrell. They have lost omenihu and LG Thuney and both OT are below average and do a lot of penalties.

Chase young has to limit outside runs and set the ÷dge

  9. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Do to KC what Baltimore didn’t do.
Run and screen the shit out of them.
The longer you keep Mahomes on the sideline the better.

  10. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I still don’t trust Shanny when push comes to shove I think KC has the better coaching staff and QB their D is pretty good also. I also think Purdy is miles above anything Jimmy G could do we just have to keep him upright. Turnovers and penalties will probably dictate the winner of this game

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Coaching plays a huge part of this. Which is why I’m worried about Wilks and the defense. Shanny seems to be doing fine with a coupe gut-check wins late.

But having CMC plays a very big part of that. Shannny has to stick to the run.
