Things worked out completely in our favor as the niners took care of the Washington Commies and the struggling Eagles (uggling Streagles?) got the beaks handed to them by the tougher-than-4-12 Cardinals. An amazing side-note is that 2 of the Cards wins were at the hands of the Cowboys and the Eagles. They LOST to the Giants and Commies. Weird.
But for the calf cramp to CMC, the game was what we needed. A fairly easy game that Purdy played well and the defense did enough to make it stress-free late.
So, we finally get to hit the playoffs as the top dog. Not the WC struggling to get through the first round. So our Rams game next week has no meaning. Funny thing is, the Rams won’t really be playing for much either as they are the 6 seed and can’t go any higher. Green Bay could knock them to 7th but it will still be a roadie for them regardless of their seeding.
And they are scorching hot right now. They are 6-1 in their last 7 and their lone blemish was a loss to the big bad Ravens on a punt return TD in OT.
So, give the starters the first 20 minutes, and rest as many guys as possible. I do not want to see CMC out there next weekend.
So, be careful out there. Don’t do anything too crazy. Went to the Jerry Harrison/Adrian Belew Remain in Light show last night, and it was a blast, but I’m tired and my ears are still ringing. Gonna crash early.

a month ago a friend of mine wanted to know if she should buy her boyfriend tickets to the Ram game. I said “don’t do it.” There’s a very real chance that game means nothing and no one will play.” She doesn’t know much about football and thanked me for the advice. Man, it would suck to have tickets to that game, right?
Yeah, wonder who is actually going to play for either team. Who is our 3rd QB I don’t even know.

Yeah I’m totally down not playing any starters really against the Lambs it’s meaningless and after seeing DE Bradley Chubb of Miami blowing out his ACL in a blowout loss to the Ravens 56-19 with 3-4 minutes left why was he still in the game? McDaniel was an idiot,and even he said I wished I had a time machine and went back and pulled him out..
Niners just need to get ALL the players healthy for the playoff run, and light easy practices will be enough with a 1stRd bye and Shanahan &coaches scheming up new plays!

At least Pac 12 going out in style. UW and Oregon will be in Big 10 (or however many teams will be in it now) next football season.
Hopefully some version of the Pac will live on. Lots of West coast schools with decent programs might want to be a part of something new.
Got to say, I’m so glad I took my son to that Cowboys game. Great deal on nextdoor at the last minute, and that had to be up there in my top 5 live football games ever.

Dec 29 Les McCann passed. Heard his great vocal and piano few times lately on the wonderful “Compared to What” that opened set with co headliner Eddie Harris in June 1969 at Montreux. I’d graduated HS week or so before that, and man that one just blew up airwaves.

Two ways to look the Rams game, 1 you play your starters unless they have lingering issues. 2 you play your starters the 1st and 2nd quarters and then pull them out in the second half. The reason they play the whole first half is rustiness. They don’t need 3 weeks off. Well some don’t need three weeks off…
CMC and Williams should get the time off. I’d play Purdy and the other starters for one quarter and maybe part of the 2nd quarter. Then call it a day. The 49ers came back with a vengeance after the bye week, so they know how to keep prepared.
Sitting too long isn’t good.
