From A to Z – Here Come the Tards

In my head this would be a great game to start Sam Darnold. Get him some live-action experience. But luckily I don’t run the team. That being said, this is an easy game to overlook as the 49ers have the big bad Ravens scheduled for our Monday night Christmas skirmish after this one in Phoenix.

Yeah, they are 3-10. But they flat stomped the Cowboys, beat the Steelers, and squeaked by the Vikings. Three probable playoff teams. Weird. They rode the Josh Dobbs train till he took a different track to Minnesota. Kyler is back, and they always seem to be a bitch and a half for the 49ers to figure out, but hey. Those days are long gone. Hopefully. Stop Conner and you;ve slowed them down enough to beat them.

We are on a roll so the impetus is to keep it going. Build up an early lead and get the backups in. It’s rarely that easy, but hey, we’ll see. Stay clean and keep rolling.

Other games of note? Cowboys / Bills Super Bowl rematch. And Seattle / Philly on Monday night. Be nice to put a couple games between us and our chasers. The Bills and Seattle are fighting for their playoff lives and they are better than the teams currently above them.

I think Fred Turner killed and skinned all the beavers used on that coat with his bare hands. Got to love his vocals. Second concert of my life was BTO at the Cow Palace in 1974. With Commander Cody and Flash Cadillac.

Not Fragile tour? That, of course was their response to Yes’s Fragile album. Good times.

I loved watching shows at the Cow Palace. Heard some people say the sound wasn’t that great but I never had a problem with it. But wrestling was probably the funnest of them all. I think I saw all the greats of the early 60’s.

Oh that’s awesome. 5 of us including couple kids saw wrestling there with Sid Vicious throwing Undertaker into a coffin as main event, freaking hilarious. Ann Calvello was right behind us, and she still looked great.
Lot of good Warriors b-ball there too for few years late 60s to 1971.

Yeah, I think all the Bay Area Bombers were pretty local. I used to watch em on tv just about every week.

Saw Haystacks Calhoun wrestle Dick the Bruiser way back in the day. Along with Charlie O’Connell and the San Francisco bay Bombers roller derby. Saw Rust Never Sleeps as well there among a ton of shows. Black and Blue (Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult) was also bad ass.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yep one of my favorite shows at the Cow Palace was Floyds dark side of the moon concert. Went to the Roller Derby also fun stuff.

Damn! I was a little too young for the Dark Side show (1973?), and I don’t know why I didn’t see the Animals tour in 1977. That was at the Cow Palace as well. My wife saw in down in LA.

      • Winder's avatar Winder says:

Yeah it was somewhere around there, can’t really remember exactly maybe 74. I was living in Sunnyvale at the time.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, the Animals concert was a week after my 16th birthday. Not sure what I did instead of that.

I saw the Floyd Animals tour at Anaheim Stadium, 1977. They flew a commercial jet right over the stadium. We all looked up. When we looked down, Pink Floyd was on stage and playing.

I’ve probably put this on here before but Commander Cody for some reason reminded me of it.

How the fuck does Brandon Staley stil have a job coaching the Chargers?

He’s got a great QB with some great weapons and they have a solid defense, yet they come up sort over and over and over.

Down 42-0 in the 1st half? Against the Raiders? This was supposed to be a playoff team. They should have fired him after the debacle of the 2021 season when he coached them out of the playoffs.

Didn’t realize Purdy is from AZ and played HS ball there. Niners might have lot of crowd on their side.

Updates on health of Ward and Hargraves?

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Ward and Hargraves look like they are out as well as AA. Today will tell us more.

Greenlaw should be good to go.

HC and GM of the Chargers fired this morning.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Can’t say I didn’t see that coming!!!

Staley coached them out of the playoffs in 2021 by losing 3 games on dumb 4th down calls, and blew a 27 point lead in the WC game last year. Don’t get how he survived those fuckups to get this far down this horrible season.

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Brandon Staley did such a poor job I doubt he gets a DC job in the NFL. Position coach or college maybe but that’s embarrassing for a former HC.
Thing is that the Charger HC opening will be a coveted job now.

Telesco couldn’t go unpunished either, he chose Staley so he pays the price.

He and Mike Nolan baished to the hinterlands of football.

Somewhere NoFear is crying. He love him some Nolan.

    New thread is up.
