Eat the Beagles!

Color me unimpressed, but the 10-1 Eagles have been dodging bullets left and right. Dallas would have beaten them but for Dak’s big toe OB on the 2 yard line, KC dropped 10 passes in their loss to the Iggles, Buffalo (Cook) dropped a TD early and backed themselves out of FG range among the billion penalties called against Buffalo. Throw in the wide open pass that Allen missed in OT that would have won the game, and there you go.

Most of their games this season have been a struggle. Shit, Buffalo put up 505 yards on them yesterday. They barely beat the Vikings, the Jets, the Pats, and the Commies, all one-score wins, to go with the sure-fire bullets they dodged.

What does it mean? Nothing really. But it shows a pattern of their not being able to put teams away. But, the big but is, they’ve won 4 games in a row when trailing at the half. Seeing as we sometimes have a struggle putting teams away ourselves, this could be an issue.

Throw in the abject homerism displayed by the refs yesterday, and it could get weird. There were like 3 blatant PIs and that completely ignored roughing the passer call on Philly’s defense that were let go, while Buffalo was tagged with 11 penalties for ticky tack shit. The team needs to inform Dre Greenlaw not to do anything borderline, because the flags will be flying.

We of course had our bit of struggle in our 3 game losing streak, but we hopefully have gotten over that.

If the team can play solid without turnovers (in the wet weather), and avoid the flag-fest, I like us to take them semi-comfortably. Something like 31-20. May not be enough to take the #1 spot now, but it’ll be a step closer to it to get this win.

Let’s not forget how the Eagles have the refs in their hip pockets. OT the Bills drive down the field and yes they could of won it with the pass to Gabe Davis went haywire they settled for a FG.Eagles take over and a pass caught by AJ Brown was ruled incomplete that he didn’t supposedly control with a football move before it was jarred loose, I say BS!! The game would of ended right there and the Bills win, but that was not going to be allowed In Philadelphia this day…

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

That was a bang-bang play that the refs didn’t even bother checking. Buff even called a timeout and they didn’t look. Pretty fucked up. Philly and KC have the biggest homer refs in the league.

This is going to be a good test for Purdy. We have to protect him better than last time and he probably has to get rid of the ball a little quicker. The Eagles play like the Niners they are tough. We just have to be smarter so hopefully Shanny won’t have his usual brain farts and go for the juggler.

Something has changed Winder. I’m scratching my head too with the options presented to us in comment field.

Yeah, I had the same problem. WordPress changed the way it puts links in.

You have to scrape out all the coding and just leave the link. If you post something I can fix it.

We might get to see DE Robert Beal in game action this weekend.
He’s been activated with Odom going to IR.
He’s undersized but was quite a terror in his UGA role.

  11. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Losing both Huff and Odin the last two weeks are going to hurt us. They were both playing high caliber ball. Yeah, NJ I was real happy about getting Beal when we did. This last draft might just be the best one we’ve had. Of course Purdy is the icing on the cake.

Rolling Stones tour sponsored by AARP is so ironic it isn’t.

If I was an NBA coach, I’d get thrown out of every game by the 3rd quarter.

The refs are calling everything for the Kings. Sacto has 40 free throws so far.

Just did a quick review of Robert Beal Jr and Haason Reddick of the Eagles.
Reddick is actually smaller than Beal.

    Beal 6’4″ / 250
    Reddick 6’1″ / 240

Trash talking is heating up for this rematch.
I work with a Philly fan (obnoxious as you’d expect) and, he’s going to Dallas for the ‘Boys game next weekend.
We gotta get them this weekend. A 6-pack is riding on this one.

He got a 12-pack out of me last year after breaking our QB and cruising to the W.
I told him if there’s an NFC Championship between us this year it’s going to be for a case.

    • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Not sure why/how I thought Beal was undersized, he’s damn near the size of Bosa who is listed at 6’4″ / 267

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

After the draft was over, I remember being happiest about getting Brown and Beal. Brown looked like a 1st rounder on video but ran a slow 40. Beal was the quickest out of the stance of any D-lineman in the draft.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Brown def looked like the real deal. Beal I wasn’t aware of. Just hope our special teams gets a little tighter. Those injuries don’t help at all. We have given up a lot of yards on KO and punt returns lately. Wishnowski does a great job of pinning teams deep, but, the returns are bothersome.

I look at stuff from the 60s and think, man that was just a little before my time.

Then realize that was 57 years ago!!

I get stuck in the 60’s all the time. I am definitely not up to what’s going on now in music and haven’t really been for the last 20 years.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, well the last organic style of rock music was post-grunge whatever around the early-mid 2000s. Sure there are still a few bands like Tool (I think) who play hard rock of some kind, but all of it now is just not very interesting.

And there are lots of outliers but there is no more mainstream rock and roll out there.

Shanahan just does not have a backup plan for when the Niners are behind

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

They’ve had some 3rd quarter comebacks, including Seattle in the playoffs last year, but Shanny is skunked in the 4th quarter.

I go back to the NFCCG against the Rams when the 49ers held the ball for 49 seconds in the entire 4th quarter after deciding to punt on 4th and 1 on the around the 50. For whatever reason, he has no feel for putting games away and for late comebacks.

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Look at the fuckng TB game. In the 4th quarter the 49ers had one 1st down, 3 punts and a turnover on downs. TB got the ball into the red zone 3 times late but the defense got a stop on downs, forced a FG and got the pick in the end zone.

Seattle had the 3rd quarter stall-out. For as good as he appears to be, he sometimes just seems to forget everything. And the D struggles as well when the offense can’t stay on the field.

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Kinda funky that both Seattle and Dallas play back-to-back Thursday night games as they face off tomorrow.

I’d totally go with Seattle covering the 9.5 spread if not outright winning.

Deebo is fueling the rematch hype with Philly CB James Bradberry.
This game is going to be a head-banger by the looks of it.
Trash talk and 9ers favored by 2.5.
Never like dealing with a home dog.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Philly has the 28th-best pass defense. And 29th in points allowed through the air.

Buffalo is a solid offense and they out up 505 yards on them. Including 173 on the ground.

They ARE trash. Keep Purdy clean and we should be able to run the score up on these guys.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I think the forecast is for heavy rain so it will probably be mostly a short pass ground game for the most part. Which is probably good for us anyway. I read somewhere that Purdy’s record in the rain isn’t so good.

  21. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

All I’m seeing is showers with a 50% chance of rain. We are 4:25 local time.

Buffalo passed for 340 yards in last week’s monsoon. Play the game.

New thread is up. Don;t think we alter things too much.

As usual, turnovers are the battle to be won.
