Seattle Slaughter – Week 11.5 – Happy Thanksgiving

Here we go with another short week and a roadie. In Seattle no less. Seattle is coming off a desultory loss to the semi-woeful Lambs, 17-16 on a missed FG as time ran out. Sounds familiar. Amazingly, the Rams have beaten Seattle twice out of their 6 wins. Thanks. They lost to the woefuller Packers. The Ravens crushed them, and Cincy squeaked by them. They’ve beaten even more woeful teams like Carolina, AZ, and the New York-we-forgot-how-to-play-football Giants.

But, they did beat the Deetroit Lions. AND the Cleveland Browns. So, this team is hard to figure. Pistol Pete has them playing over their heads, and they are extremely young, so they are learning on the fly. Geno Smith is playing kinda middling football. He is 13th in yards, 17-18 in whichever rating system you prefer, 12 TDs, 7 picks. They are18th in offensive yardage, 16th in points, 25th in rushing, and 13th in passing. Their run game is fairly quiet with Kenny Walker leading the way with 613 yards,

Defense is much the same middling stuff. 23rd in yards given up, 21st in passing, 19th in rushing defense, and 19th in points. Their claim to fame is they are 10th in turnovers at +3.

But they are the Seahawks. Always a fight, Always a challenge. Metcalfe and Lockett are never easy to deal with. BUT, Russell is gone, and Geno is a unreasonable facsimile., and the Seahawks are banged up pretty badly. Geno is questionable but he’ll likely play. Still, I think we can outlast these guys. But the usual stuff has to be watched. Stupid pre-snap penalties, holding calls, PIs. Win in the trenches, win the turnover battle.

But they NEED to tighten up their 4th quarter game. They cannot fade like they did against TB. That would be a disaster in Seattle.

Walker out. Geno gimpy and shot up with drugs. Get to him early with a nice Buckeye Crunch or two and bring on Lock. I think we hammer them tomorrow 27-10

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    All about the pressure.

  3. Winder's avatar Winder says:

From here on out it’s all about protecting Purdy imo. Defensive injuries like Huff’s last week will hurt also. Seattle has some pretty good and young defensive players that can cause some havoc. But at this point I think we are the far better team and barring stupid mistakes we take this one handily.

O line not healthy going in. Hopefully Purdy has enough time to continue hitting 20 yard passes down field and running game can keep SeaChickens D on the field. Enjoy Holiday everyone!

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Feliciano played well for Banks. Not sure about Burford tho.

GB does the stupid move going for it on 4th down off Deetroit’s 2nd turnovers in the 1st quarter. Coulda taken 23-6 lead and instead gave Deetroit momentum.

    Happy thanksgiving, all!!

  5. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. This year it’s just me and the cats. I will enjoy the solitude.

Deetroit looking like the Deetroit of old.

Well, Been Gray did us a favor. Just hoping for the Commies to come through. Though they ain’t as important.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Love that Furs song . . .

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Nope. Commies fold like a cheap tent.

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Wow. Easy pickings.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Special teams is really awful. D did their job.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Nice of them to call the penalty 30 seconds after the play was over.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Hello? There you go.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Don’t go soft here. Stuff these guys again.

Hope y’all are having a nice Thanksgiving.

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Case in point of Shanahan being a big fat pussy. Go for the fucking TD after the fumbled punt, Instead he goes wimpy and kicks the FG.

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

And of course we give up 50 yards in 43 seconds. Utter stupidity.

    Miss!

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. Stupid shit there. 2 terrible passes by Purdy.

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. We are just letting them back into the game.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I’d be surprised if we win this game. Shanahan and Wilks are playing scared already.

Keep them out of the end zone and we need a fucking drive.

  21. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Fucking 49ers. No matter what, every single time they come up here it’s just a shit show. Collinsworth is positively gushing over Carroll right now. You blow a 24-3 lead in a big divisional game you deserve everything bad that happens to you. No one can make a play right now.

  22. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Seattle is on fire right now. I don’t know how Shanahan does it, but Carroll just owns his ass.

  23. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

As good as Purdy has been, those two throws on their first drive after the half are among his worst of the year. Either one could’ve been picked.

  24. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah. When this team goes south, they go WAY south. They’ve given up on the run and they can’t get anything going downfield.

  25. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Need a damn touchdown. God I hate the Seahawks. The Dodgers of the NFL.

  26. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

There are times it just feels like Shanny has no feel for what is going on. He gets some nice runs that scream play action on 1st down. But instead a 0 gain followed by a blitz on 2nd down resulting in 3rd and long. So here we are at 4th and 2.

If he runs up the middle I will scream.

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Exactly what I was thinking two good runs perfectly set up a play fake, but he went to the well one times too many. They needed that defensive stop though Ray Ray did his best to fuck it up.

  27. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Getting outcoached. Shanny and Wilks can’t stop a thing or get going.

  28. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

OMG. I CAN’T TAKE THIS SHIT!!!

Just get some points!!!! We can’t stop playing for the entire 2nd half.

  29. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    Need that killer instinct.

  30. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Somebody needs to make a play on offense.

  31. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Now THAT was a great fucking pass. Makes up for all the shit.

  32. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Shut these goddamned Seahawk fans up.

  33. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

There it is!! Purdy hangs in the pocket nicely.

  34. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Ward is having a hell of a game.

  35. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Yes, he is. Glad it was only a cramp. They should be these turds, they ain’t that damn good.

  36. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Nice! Shit, another game that got weird but they came through in the end. Purdy did good to overcome that terible sequence in the 3rd quarter.

The defense game up 3 points.

Wish they could avoid these dead-zone quarters.

  37. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Yeah, for a guy with an alleged noodle for an arm, he sure can drill those 30 yarders in there. Terrific throw into a pretty tight window and Aiyuk made a nice catch.

  38. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

IMO, Bosa still does not get enough credit for his run defense. That was a helluva nice play.

  39. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Payback is a bitch, Seahawks, have some turkey at midfield Niners!

  40. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

I just watched the Aiyuk TD again, Purdy threw that right in the middle of 4 defenders, between the numbers and under pressure. Outstanding.

  41. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Coming to Seattle and winning will always be among the best of any 49ers wins in any given year. Only finally winning the Super Bowl will top it. In my opinion anyway.

  42. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Man, Nice that we came out unscathed, and have 10 days to get ready for the Eagles. We are the 2 seed now. Just got to beat the Eagles.

  43. Winder's avatar Winder says:

We seem to make it hard when we should have put a lid on em in the 1st half. Give any team enough air and they will come back. I think Shanny coaches scared far too often.

  44. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

That Eagles game is going to be huge. At Philly. Holy shit.

  45. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Purdy is really good at looking off the safeties.

  46. Berger's avatar Berger says:

I almost lost this game for us. I was sitting on the couch for the first half, we dominated. I started the 2nd half in my favorite chair. We were losing our lead. I, like Shanahan, made a bad half time adjustment. As soon as I went back to the couch, we immediately caught our rhythm back. I need to be better, but we won. That is all that matters.

  47. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Heh heh! Yeah, we did lose ST guy Odum for the year with a torn bicep. Other than that, we looked fine. Ward was outstanding on Metcalfe. Purdy, but for those 2 throws in the 3rd, was money.

And kick return coverage reared its ugly head again. We need a game like the Dallas one to beat the Eagles. None of this quarter-long (or game-long) struggling.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

Shanahan said they ran a great disguise on that pick 6. They showed one thing and ran something different. In fact, they did it twice, which made Purdy audible twice. I love that this happened in a win. It will just make Purdy better. I’ll bet Shanny will have something designed for that in two weeks.

  48. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Just have to hope Philly looks past the Bills and gets a nice L before our game.
