Week XII – Home for Thanksgiving – Almost

Let’s hope we don’t look past Tampa before our goddamn second Thursday night turkeyfest game against the Seahawks. Maybe we can return the favor and eat a turducken at midfield in Seattle, but we have to get past Baker and Mike Evans. TB is 4-5 treading water, but they are only half a game behind the 1st place Saints and could take over 1st.

If we had handled things a little differently we could be in better shape instead of fighting Seattle for 1st place, but here we are. Every game matters. Every win is important. As we just saw, getting a bye week before the playoffs is huge. If we get there, having Philly come here would be much better than the alternative.

Which leads to Baker Mayfield. He of the 10,000 ads and mediocre career. Granted, anyone who plays for the Browns is in for a shit-show. Throw in a team like Carolina that is even worse, or a desperate Rams team, and you have a 31-38 record.

Still and all, 102-64 isn’t bad and 4-5 with TB), and his completion rate is decent at 61.4%, so are we seeing the resurgence of Mayfield? He’s got a great weapon in Mike Evans, who has 43 – 737, and 6 TDs. Good enough for 10th in yards. But that’s it. Rachaad White is 29th in rushing but is a threat out of the backfield, so we have to stop that.

So, there you have it. Stop the screens, hit the baker. Beat these pretenders.

Purdy did a good job against em last year but like everyone they have had a year to adjust. I hope he just comes out slinging.

I know this has been on here before. But this has been on my mind.

Tried to get the live one but couldn’t do it

Well if the D stays pissed over the way they played during the 3 game losing streak, they should win. I don’t see a let down on Offense, Purdy still lead the team on possible wins in the 3 losses

Even when the Niners blitz, they can’t get to the QB

Decent win, Solid even. But man, Shanny sure struggles with putting teams away on offense.

The pass rush was fairly ineffective again. Lots of guys flying around but no one getting in. These will be problems against Philly if not Seattle.

I didn’t see the 5 man front like the last game. This is the problem, no consistent, until a team starts marching down the field on you go with what worked, it worked against the Jags, so why not continue the 5 man front?

    Kinlaw looked back to form!

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, he looked good early. Didn’t see the Hufanga injury. He more than likely is out for the rest of the year with a knee injury. He mighta got hurt on the play where he got faked out on a swing pass in the flat.

Hence Ji’Ayir Brown being in there late. 2 passes defensed and a pick in the 2nd half was pretty solid.

Wilks’ ineffective pass rush in the face of simply rushing 4 with no stunting is really bothersome. Move Bosa around. Put Young inside for a play or 2. Try different looks. Stunt for fuck’s sake. The screens were defended better in the 2nd half, but still got too much yardage all game.

If not for the late defensive heroics, this game could have gotten much tighter. Tired of this defense not getting enough sustained pressure. Tired of the offense stalling out repeatedly as they can’t put the game away. And the punt return was yet another let-down by a team that can’t seem to step on anyone’s throat in the 4th quarter.

This will be an issue vs Philly. Seattle is banged the fuck up

It sur seems our O-Line plays better with Feliciano in for Banks. It will be interesting to hear any comments from the experts about this.

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Feliciano looked good. bad news is Hufanga tore his ACL.

Brown is in. If yesterday is an indication of his play, we should be alright.

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

That is a huge loss and is gonna hurt us at times. Glad to see Brown make some plays hope he can keep it up.

    • Berger's avatar Berger says:

When the draft was over, I immediately though we had a steal with Brown. He slid because of a 40 time. His college film is tremendous. The other guy I really liked was Beal, the DE. he had the fastest first step of any D-Lineman in the draft.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, it was that play that Hufanga got hurt on. The TV idiots made no mention of it. Brown is gonna get his trial by fire. Love what he’s shown though.

    New thread is up.
