“That’s what I used to do!” said Lawrence Taylor.
Can’t say they aren’t trying. But really, a conditional 3rd round pick for Chase Young is a deal. And the funny part is, if he leave next season, we’d get a conditional 3rd round pick for losing him. Given curse on our 3rd round picks besides, this is still a freebie. Does it help, though? Can’t see how it would hurt, as Clelen Ferrell and Drake Jackson have hardly lit up the sky opposite Nick Bosa, but then again, Nick Bosa isn’t filling up the sack column either.
We ARE getting pressure, but we just don’t get home in time. An issue readily apparent in the Minnesota game, where Cousins threw 45 times with no sacks. Joe Burrow got sackeed 3 times, but it didn’t slow Cincy down at all as they marched up and down the field on our suddenly soft defense. Maybe Greenlaw’s working through injury is hindering the LB in general, but a team that usually flies towards the runners, and stops short passes for short gains is suddenly in hase mode and missing tackles.
And, please, moving Wilks to the field isn’t the cure-all they think it is. It is dumb to think where he watches from bears any meaning on the game prep, planning, and execution of the defense. I wish they had moved on from Wilks, given the timing of the bye week, but he’s gonna be with us one more week. Seeing that we have another young stud QB that moves pretty well and throws big, one has to think that we’d better dial up some defensive schemes that work.
All I see is our standard 4 man rush against a given team’s 5 guys. We aren’t winning at the point of attack. That much is certain, But there are NO adjustments, no stunts, and the blitzes we run have been negated at best, and exploited at thw worst possible time in that Minnesota game. It wasn’t the Immaculate Reception, but it was pretty fucking close. Without that TD, the game goes VERY differently.
Anyhow, congrats to Bruce Bochy and his 4th ring. Well done, sir. Tejas has a strong young team that could very well win a couple more. I wish our ownership group would spend some money. . .
I just can’t seem to get fired up about the Niners right now. I think there is some internal shit going on that has trickled down to the players. Don’t know what it is and there’s a good chance I am wrong but being as hot as we were and turning totally cold that quick just doesn’t make sense to me. Can’t remember a situation quite like this. Anyway, not stressing about it either.
Think they are still in good spot and next game will be their chance to be team coming off the bye and wreak some havoc. Getting Trent Williams back should make big difference in efficiency of offense and running the ball.
The inattention to the offensive line is really really annoying. The fall off in the run game shouldn’t be this dramatic.
Thing is though, Deebo’s absence is part of this as well.
Shanahan has proven to be a deer in the headlights if he loses a key player. Especially during a game.
Yeah, whatever it is, no one is bringing it up. It is beyond baffling how a team that was riding so high after that Dallas game can come crashing down so hard.
I mean, the fuckups have been anywhere and everywhere. Moody’s miss, Purdy’s 4th quarter picks, and especially the defense’s sudden apathy. I mean, everyone’s getting paid, we were flying around vs Dallas and Prescott never got comfortable, and then nothing. Then some 3rd string nobody beats us. Sure, the Rams game, we only got one sack on 55 attempts, but Stafford wasn’t comfortable. The offense was able to score.
The closest I can come to this is the 1988 season. The Niners were 6-3 but in 3rd place in their division, 1 game behind the Rams and Saints at 7-2. Still, they were in good position to at least get the wildcard.
The season nearly came to and end with 2 awful losses. The Niners were beating Phoenix 23-0 when the Cards ascored 24 unanswered points to beat us 24-23 with a last-second TD. The next game against the LA Raiders was a trainwreck of a game played in a downpour at the Stick. An utter slogfest, the Niners were facing a 4th and 1 at the Raider 45, down 9-3. Walsh called a reverse to Rice, who got popped for a 6 yard loss.
So, by week 12, the Niners were 2 games down to the Saints, one game down to the Rams, and out of the playoff picture. They ran the table to win the division. Well, they got killed by the Rams in week 16 in a meaningless game, but the crushed the Bears and Vikings to reach the Super Bowl.
Lots of things happening around those 2 losses. After the Raider game, Eddie Debartolo ripped Walsh a new asshole and nearly fired him on the spot. The team heard Debartolo lighting Walsh up and down and screaming at him, and they rallied around him to bring the trophy home. This fo course was when the Niners had gotten Steve Young the year before and the QB controversy was in full swing.
I got popped for drunk in public the night before the Phoenix game, and walked home the 8 miles from the Redwood City jail to my house. I got home just in time to see the 49ers score at touchdown to make the score 23-0. I though, shit, at least we’re gonna with the game.
The Raider game, like I said, was a torrential rain storm. The girl I went with ditched me in the 3rd quarter (she drove), but I eventually found someone I knew to take me back to the Bit of England.
Basketball is just too infuriating to watch. OKC is getting every call under the sun, and it is keeping them in the game. Guy travels in the lane stumbles, takes 4 steps, and takes the shot on no contact and they call it a continuation foul.
Guy falls down on a 3 with no one near him and it’s a 4 point play.
yeah, I totally forgot about the losses in that 88 season. I do remember the SB though. I have walked home from the Redwood City jail also.

At bottom of article there is a piece on chase young. Had a full grade 3 tear of acl plus ruptured patella tendon.. if finally healed from a good surgery we may have gotten a steal!
Hey Tom. Yeah, Young has baggage but hopefully getting back with his pal Bosa will get him fired up.
When we drafted Bosa, I never thought he would be available. He was the player I wanted but I didn’t believe the Cards would take Murray and pass on Bosa. I remember NJ not believing either. The player I wanted after Bosa was Montez Sweat. Turns out, he was a good pick but went down a bit in the 1st round. NJ wanted Quinnen Williams over Bosa. Quinnen did turn out to be the better player over Sweat, but both would’ve been good picks. Cards pleasantly surprised us and took the QB and we got the player we coveted.
BTW, hopefully NJ does his draft analysis this coming year. He does a great job with that.
Bears are finalizing a deal with Montez Sweat for 4 years 98 million deal wow 🤩 definitely overpay but these days maybe not.Niners with a 3 year younger player in Chase and if he plays well (5 sacks in 7 games)he might be more than a rental.Besides with a front 4 of Chase,BOSA,AA&Hargrave &depth with 2nd string Kinlaw Gregory,Jackson,Celine, that’s has to be scary when they get there shit together going forward..
Shit wasn’t it us that has 40 mil of cap space. So bosa and a proven chase young will take a huge chunk of that.
We’ve already paid Bosa.
Bose big money starts in year 2 of his contract
I don’t see any way they afford Young after this season. Then again, Maraathe has been pretty good at fiddling with the cap, but Aiyuk is the next guy up that is gonna want the Brink’s truck backing up to his driveway, so we’ll see what happens.
Is Arik Armstead overpaid for what he contributes? If Chase not injured would trade AA to clear cap to keep Aiyuk and Deebo who Purdy needs for their YAC
We got an underachieving and cheap Chase thanks to letting the mentor Kerrigan go to eagles.
The Bears are down there with the Browns and Cards as the most inept front offices in sports. The Browns are actually kinda playing well. At least defensively.
Watson is a flat disaster plain and simple. He’s getting the start tomorrow. 6-4, 79.8 QBR, 179 yards/game 11 TDs / 8 picks isn’t what Cleveland spent $230 million and three 1st round picks for.
You know, a deal worse than the Trey Lance deal! Yes, there is one!
Appreciate your kind words Berger.
Hopefully I can get back to the research phase prior to the Draft.
My time belongs in too many other places of my life it seems 😁
Not complaining as it makes life matter.
Hope things are settling down, NJ.
Thanks Chuck.
Better than last year.
Wow. Miami looking like a paper tiger at this point.
Fins battling back. Always liked Mostert glad he’s healthy. Wasn’t he special teams guy at first for Niners? Outside gunner on punt coverage?
Yep. A year on special teams. Then he got starts when everyone else (Jet) got hurt.
I’ve seen LB Jaylon Scott a few times from NC State.
He’s definitely going on the list pending the Combine results if he gets there.
Ravens blowing up SeaChickens. 37-3 in 4th.
270 on ground vs. 29 for Seattle lol
The only team in the NFC not to lose this week…9ers!
West*
Damn. Great to see the Chickens get slaughtered. Rams go down as well. Wanted Miami to beat the Chefs tho.
Fucking Raiders go wild without Fucknut McDaniels. Davis was about 8 months late shit-canning McDumbfuck. And the fucking Vikings beat the Falcons?
Flying V is spinning in his gramma’s basement.
Cincy has beaten all the NFC West teams.
We fucking slaughter the Steelers and Cowboys, and all they are doing is winning.
Last year, all the teams we played lost after they played us. This season they all seem to be revitalized after we kick their ass.
FWIW Giants fans, Sean Manaea opted out. Shocking seeing as his agent is Scott Boras.
Conforto will go too.
And we are back in 1st place.
Go figure.
All 3 NFC west teams scored a grand total of 6 points yesterday. Still hold the tiebreaker.
That’s incredible. Always known that luck plays a big part of a season but this is just what the doctor ordered. It still remains uncertain if we can capitalize.

Just a fantastic version
Thanks that was wonderful.
Very nice. Saw Etta James do that at whatever the bar was next to The I-Beam on Haight.
