We are apparently ‘close’ to signing defensive MVP DE Nick Bosa. Color me unimpressed as close don’t mean shit unless you are playing horse shoes, throwing hand grenades, slow-dancing, or trying to get your rocks off.
But I digress. At least Bosa isn’t say Deebo Samuel, a guy who lost a season, out of shape and hurt due to, in his words, HIS hold out. Bosa is pretty much a ‘pin-the-ears-back-and-kill-the QB’ guy who keeps himself in maniacally good shape, so the worry shouldn’t really be about his working himself into game shape. The goal is simply to get him SIGNED for fuck’s sake.
The longer this drags out, the stupider this organization looks. And this has been a pretty stellar effort for the team this last offseason to look like a bunch of dart-throwing monkeys. You have the Trey Lance fiasco, which if not for Brock Purdy, would have really hurt the team if Lance is as bad as he appears to be, the 3rd round kicker pick who is hurt, the 3rd round TE pick who dropped passes and then got hurt, Javon Kinlaw, and their misuse of top picks overall in their tenure, the Jimmy G jerkaround, Jet McKinnon, Aiyuk’s doghouse benching, Solly Thomas, Reuben Foster . . . on and on.
But this isn’t about throwing stones in glass houses, it’s about signing Bosa. GET IT DONE! I want him to be available for every game this season.
Dug these guys way back when . . .
the only thing I’m worried about is he’s going to come back, rush right in and the lack of contact with other players is going to cause him to pull something or injure himself. You can’t just drop right into an NFL game and go against those monsters and not be at risk of injury. I don’t care how great of shape he’s in
I have a solution to the Bosa situation. Let him sit for 4 or 5 weeks. He gets about a million per game. He won’t get paid for those games and that should free up the 4 million in cap space to pay the difference in what he wants. It should also satisfy his ego that he will still be the highest paid defender. He won’t actually get all the money, but on paper he still has the highest contract. On top of that, it ensures that he is healthy going into the middle of the season.
Unca, I like the way you used “piddly-assed shit” in a sentence on the last thread!
lol
This just makes us look more incompetent after the Lance fiasco.
TJ Watt held out a couple years ago right up to game one, and came in his 1st game and got 2 sacks and a bunch of tackles. It ain’t ideal, but what’s the choice? The management has decided that they need to act like they have leverage when thye don’t.
A big no on letting Bosa linger on the sidelines for 4-5 games. The 49ers need to hit the ground running and not trip over their dicks to start the season like they have the last few years. Our season last year came down to one game that we didn’t have as we stumbled out of the gate. Playing Philly here instead of there would have made a huge difference. And would have saved Purdy from injury.
Well, per Ian Rapoport, this holdout may very well extend into the season.
The 49ers are looking stupider every day this goes on. So fucking tired of the ineptitude when the team is so close to being dominant.
Football fights usually are a joke, but this is insane.
Finally some good news out of camp.
Bosa signs deal for 5 years / $170 million.
Yeah getting BOSA locked up finally just had to get done! And deserved all of his 34.5 mil avg and passing Darnold’s contract was obviously what he wanted. They will ease him in against Steelers( 15-20 plays?) after just 1 practice and Friday is just a no pad day before hitting the road! God welcome back Nick stay healthy and unleash hell!!
New thread is up.
