All in All, I’d Rather Not be in Philadelphia

To paraphrase WC Fields. . . . Not much to report this week, other than this looks like another spanking at the hands of a superior team. The Iggles are flying high under the steady hand of Carson Wentz. A guy I thought Philly hugely overreached for by taking him with the 2nd pick overall and giving the Browns a boatload of picks. Wentz has the Eagles at 6-1 and is under serious MVP consideration so far this season. The Browns? Well, uh, 0-7 ring any bells? They, along with us, are the remaining winless teams. And I thought the Jets were tanking their season. They are an astounding 3-4 and a horrible call from being 4-3.

But these are the vagaries of the NFL. Surprise teams, disappointing teams, rebuilding teams, and shit teams. We appear to be somewhere between shit and rebuilding. I like how we have played with the talent level we have been saddled with, but last week’s loss was disheartening after seeing us play fairly well the previous 5 games. So, on to Philly. A game that should be somewhere between a 12 to 24 point loss. Not much hope to hold out for, other than, like Dallas, Philly’s defense isn’t scaring anyone. But that didn’t get us anywhere vs Dallas.

Onward and downward . . .

Then there’s Philly mentality. Best team in the NFL, they already have the Lombardi, parade plans already in the works.
No way anyway sees our first win in this one but….let’s hope they overlook us.

I vividly remember the epic game against the Eagles where Joe threw for 4 TDs in the 4th quarter after Montana spent the whole day getting his ass kicked by the Eagles.

Baring anymore injuries there is really is nothing to get upset about. At this point we can only go up or flatline and stay the same. But either way expectations are at a minimum.

I remember the game against Philly during the Niners last SB winning season. Niners were crushing everybody rolling up 40 points a game almost, Steve Young was on fire, Philly put a beating on them and handed them their asses.

    It can happen.

Wouldn’t turn around be fair play this weekend?
      Sure could 12th.
      Beware the winless team…

    • Winder says:

I remember that one. I couldn’t believe they did that to us. That day they thoroughly kicked our ass. To be honest I don’t think we have the horses to beat these guys..

Yeah, that was the game the Seifert pulled Young for Bono and Young went ballistic on the sidelines. The Niners lost 40-8 but never looked back after that. I remember the team saying that’s when they all truly got behind Young.

  5. Berger says:

That game we had most of our offensive line injured. I talked with Cardinals coach Buddy Ryan after that game and he told me don’t worry, you can’t do much without an offensive line, we’ll be fine. We were, we ended up being SB champs!

  6. Nipper says:

Bring on the Eagles. The Niners may as well play the better teams so they can further their development. Lets face it wins are going to be in short supply with this current group. I just hope the QB doesn’t get beaten to a pulp.
