Game Day! Lucky Seven?

Maybe it’s coming home, or maybe Dallas is overrated, or likely I’m dreaming, but this team has to win eventually. They have been in 6 of their 7 games, and have an amazing ability to get a bad call at the wrong time, or given up a big play to fuck up a good effort, but if anything this shows how close this team is to being at least a middling team. Sure, that ain’t no great shakes, but it sure beats the Chip/Tom/Trent era of getting blown out midway through the 2nd quarter.

So, there’s that. Anyhow, bring on the Cowboys.

GO TEAM! It’s a nice day for a win.

  2. Winder says:

This should be a great game. I am glad they are honoring Clark. He was one of he best WR’s I have ever seen. What I remember most about him was his ability to hold onto the ball. You rarely saw a dropped ball by him. He was at his best with those mid-ranged fade passes from Montana. Montana would put the ball where only Clark could get it. He made some of the prettiest over the shoulder catches that I have ever seen. There were the ;perfect duo and one of the main reasons we were so successful. It is sad to see the condition Clark is in today but by the end of the day he will know how much he is loved by the 49er organization and fans. I wish I could have been there.

    • Lurker John says:

DC was awesome. Great pick by Walsh. A guy who was a huge part of 2 SB championships.

    • NJ49er says:

      Ditto Winder.
My kids grew up with the 80’s Teams. My eldest has asked me many times, ‘When are my kids going to feel the excitement I felt growing up with the 9ers?’
I just told him a few weeks ago, this is what it looked like when Walsh came in.
      Keep the Faith.

Let’s hope the magic is making a comeback with Lynch and Shanny.
Today is an 80’s Legacy Mojo moment for me, hopefully for DC and the members of the ’81 Team too, that are there to honor him today.

Oh yeh….Fuk Dallas! EVERYDAY, twice on Sunday 😀

  3. theroooster says:

LA Rams up 33-0 in the 4th Quarter across the pond in London. Soon to be 5-2, Rams are clearly the best team in the NFC West this season. After their bye week next week, they get the sad-sack NY football Giants on the road, then the .500 Texans at home. They could very easily be sitting 7-2 after week 10.

    • Winder says:

I hate to admit it but they are an interesting team. It took awhile but all those early picks are finally paying off for them. We will be there in a year or two ourselves and then it is gonna be fun.

      • theroooster says:

Agreed. McVay turning into a real good choice for HC. The Rams spent over 10 years in a 4-3 defense, but Phillips has installed his trademark 3-4. It’s taken a few games, but the Rams D keeps getting better and better.

    • unca_chuck says:

But they still suck, Rooster. Actually who knows? The NFL is all over the place these days. Anyone can turn it around in a couple years. Except for Cleveland.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Jesus. Nice 3 and out and you fumble the punt. How to be 0-7 . . .

  5. Winder says:

fucking mistakes are gonna kill us again

  6. Grumpy Guy says:

Bad teams find ways to shoot themselves in the foot. We need to break that happen, or the losses will keep piling up.

  7. unca_chuck says:

Fuck this. Robinson needs to figure this shit out.

  8. Lurker John says:

    Robinson really does suck.

  9. unca_chuck says:

Oh well. So much for this game. The usual fall-behind-early is still intact.

  10. Lurker John says:

He needs to sit on the bench. He’s not good enough to figure it out which is why he’s constantly grabbing receivers.

  11. theroooster says:

Wow – an awful lot of Cowboys fans in Santa Clara today. Who knew?

  12. Nipper says:

Another Dallas OUCH! The pain continues……..

  13. unca_chuck says:

The refs will call that every goddamn time. And they won’t give Robinson a break on the 50/50 calls. That’s why he has 9 penalties called on him in 6+ games.

  14. Lurker John says:

Best team that has already lost to Seattle. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch rooster boy.

    • theroooster says:

Seahawks not as good as they used to be. Pete Carroll’s rah rah bullshit only flies for a few years with the same team in the NFL. He’s better suited to the college game.

      • Lurker John says:

They beat the Rams. That gives them an immediate leg up for any tiebreaker. I wouldn’t count them out. They looked good today against a shit AZ team that the Niners should’ve beat.

      • theroooster says:

I’m not counting the Seahawks out, just pointing out they don’t look to be as good as previous recent seasons. They haven’t been too impressive so far this season, so hopefully that trend continues. Not much chance of them losing today as they get to beat up on the sad-sack Giants.

  15. Grumpy Guy says:

Robinson looked good last year, because teams did not need to throw the ball. They could run on us all day long. He’s another mid-round Baalke pick who is just good enough to get you beat.

  16. Lurker John says:

Clearly the rave reviews on Robinson were way premature. He looks like little more than a hack to me. Start running Akhello out there.

  17. Spitblood says:

Why is it that the Browns and 49ers always seem to be rebuilding?

  18. unca_chuck says:

    And the rout is on.

  19. Lurker John says:

Shanahan loves to run wide against speedy defenses.

  20. Flavor says:

    Beat Hard is awful. Next.

  21. Lurker John says:

He’d better learn how to get the ball out or he won’t be long for this league. He hangs onto it way too long.

  22. unca_chuck says:

Well, there haven’t been any drops. Jesus. Mistakes mistakes mistakes. 3 fumbles in the 1st half.

  23. Nipper says:

Yeah today Niners inept play was put on full display to put it mildly. So many mistakes it hurts. Are these pro football players?

  24. Nipper says:

Niners play like they never practice. I wonder if Dallas is even putting up a sweat?

  25. NJ49er says:

Dallas outscored 37-7 in 3rd Qtr this year.
Now or never if we have any ideas of making this a game today.

  26. unca_chuck says:

The line is blowing assignments. The fumlbe on that drive before the half Brown and Staley both whiffed. Again the other team can tackle our WRs with no calls. We breathe on their WRs and it’s a 35 yard PI call.

  27. Flavor says:

    fucking embarrassing.

  28. unca_chuck says:

Wow. We still can’t stop screen plays. That’s disgusting.

  29. unca_chuck says:

Ezekiel wearing pink shoes for all the women he’s harassed?

  30. NJ49er says:

We got’em right where we want them. I guess?

  31. unca_chuck says:

Hey just get into the end zone.

  32. unca_chuck says:

Tomlinson and the left side is sucking

  33. Lurker John says:

The OL is still really, really bad. Pretty hard to have a consistent offense when run and pass blocking is so spotty.

  34. Irish Kevin says:

Wow I thought they would be better than this.

  35. Niners grabbing their collective ankles with ass cheeks spread wide open for the ‘Boys

  36. Lurker John says:

Foster looking pretty fragile so far in his brief career.

  37. Lurker John says:

Dallas is clearly a vastly superior team in every possible way.

  38. Nipper says:

Dallas scores again! Ouch ………Foster out with injured ribs. Robinson screws his assignment again. 40-3 today. Niners may as well shit in their pants to really top this day off.

  39. NJ49er says:

So much for moral victories I guess?
If you’re gonna suck. Do it right.
We keep pace with the Browns for the chance to screw up the top of the Draft order by wheeling and dealing perhaps?

  40. Nipper says:

Niners ready to score a TD? Will they finally score? Niners finally a TD!!!!!!

  41. Flavor says:

so sad to see Dwight Clark today. Man, I saw him in person maybe a year and a half ago? He was the picture of health. Vibrant. Entertaining. Engaging. And to see him speak today, I was at a loss for words. Completely bummed me out.

  42. NJ49er says:

Gotta wonder how the brain-trusts that did the initial site spec/development studies for this stadium, didn’t calculate the sun positions/impact in an open air environment?
Jed better open the purse for some sort of canopy/roof addition.
Hard to fathom something that obvious didn’t get factored in.

  43. NJ49er says:

Could Denver get blanked? Looking pretty urgent at the moment.
    Go figure?

  44. Winder says:

Well, the sky isn’t falling just yet but that was a terrible game in so many ways.

    • Flavor says:

we’ve been hanging around in games vs shitty teams (except Washington, LA). We were bound to get blown out sooner or later by a good team.

      • NJ49er says:

When you’re signing DL-men off the street the week before facing EzE you kinda had to see this coming no?
We might be dealing before the Trade Deadline next week if we can find suitors.
We have to do what the Rams did.
Stockpile Picks and fill the holes with those Picks.
Good QB Class coming in April by all accounts.
Makes those top slots more valuable, assuming we aren’t shopping for one.

  45. Nipper says:

This game was a stinker from start to finish. Best to forget it. Niners even in their winning years played stinkers now and then. This game is made for young men who do not always show up to play at their best. Hopefully the next game will be better.

  46. Winder says:

I am not giving up on CJ he is just a kid and he truly didn’t get the support he needed today. It was his first start in the big leagues and to say he isn’t good enough is just silly at this point. Look at Goff’s first few games, they sucked pretty bad too.

    • theroooster says:

True. A lot of it has to do with the scheming and coaching. Fisher and his staff were terrible – Gurley complained that Fisher ran a “Junior high offensive scheme”. Really hard to make definitive conclusions after just one start – hell, even after a few starts. Some pick it up right away, others it takes a little longer. Last season Wentz looked light years ahead of Goff. Goff has caught up quick.

  47. NJ49er says:

No way we could have expected CJ to do much in his first start.
Marinelli threw everything at him today. Welcome to the NFL kid.
He’ll learn from it. Comes with the territory as they say.
Shanny can’t be feeling too comfortable either I’m sure. He’s gotta keep these guys from mailing it in now.
    Gut check time.

    • Nipper says:

They’re all playing for their jobs in the NFL this season and future seasons if they’re lucky.

  48. Spitblood says:

40-10 by a .500 team? The Cowboys aren’t good. Why does it seem like the Browns and 49ers are always rebuilding? Ownership…. What are you morons still doing here?

  49. unca_chuck says:

Some people are fans for the long haul, Spit. We aren’t front-running pussies.

Spit doesn’t remember 4 years ago. He’s brain dead from eating the plastic fish he caught in his bathtub.

  50. unca_chuck says:

    New thread is up.
