GaME Day!! By the Time I Get to PHX . . .

Will this be the first win? AZ is usually a tough place to play, but we’ll see about this one. I think we can win this one but this is predicated on this defense getting pressure on Ichabod Palmer. I think AZ is well past their window of viability in being a strong contender in the playoffs, but we certainly aren’t there by any stretch.

Without David Johnson, AZ’s run game is not nearly the scary thing it was. And the worry in the air is of course Larry Fitzgerald. Which brings me back to the pressure, or lack thereof. If we don;t get pressure we don’t win.

Taylor is looking good. He gets open.

    They should go for this.

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Can’t stand these drops.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Or 4 yard passes on 3rd and 10.

  4. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Hoyer inconsistent with his accuracy plus a couple of drops. That ball to Paulsen was a thing of beauty.

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Lack of pressure is pissing me off.

  6. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Pitch and fucking catch.

  7. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

No pass rush against a patchwork AZ OL and a human oak tree for a QB. These so-called talented d-linemen had better start pressuring the QB or Palmer is going to carve up the likes of Dontae Johnson and Rashard Lewis all day long.

  8. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    God Dontae sucks ass.

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Pathetic. You can’t let the WR just walk to his spot. This coverage is awful.

Then again, there’s no pressure whatsoever.

Did his elbow land OB? This may not be a TD.

  10. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Pereira needs to be put out to pasture.

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Ooooooh! Huh. I’ll take it.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

We need to do better than 10 yard cushions on these pass plays.

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Never like the rekick call. Take it on the 30 . . .

  14. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    These penalties are killing us.

  15. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

And our 5th penalty. I hate fucking Harold. Yup. Lost 15 yards on that exchange.

  16. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

He sucks. Why the hell did they cut Brooks for this bust?

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Huh. Liking Taylor more and more.

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Hoyer gets that ball quick to Robinson it’s a 1st down.

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fuck. These 3rd down plays are killing us. And the penalties are back.

  20. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Niners are getting pounded now. That’ll pay off later for AZ

  21. Finally a pass rush, Bowman HAS too make that int

  22. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Finally! Jesus. Bowman has to catch that throw.

  23. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Nobody on the team can catch the ball. Better pressure those last few plays.

  24. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Need to reach the end zone. Palmer turns to clay when pressured.

  25. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    Pathetic

  26. Announcer ripping Hoyer pretty good, deservedly because he SUCKS!!

  27. Flavor's avatar Flavor says:

Not the most impressive 2 min drill from Hoyer there….

  28. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Jesus. Robinson missed both those routes. Or Hoyer did. WTF?

  29. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Nice of Tartt trying to kill his teammate and himself on that last play.

  30. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

That pick it sure looked like Robinson was tackled on his route. Knocked down anyway.

  31. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Hoyer can look really bad. Get the fucking ball out of there dude. First sign of trouble and his eyes are down looking at the rush. Kilgore is getting his ass kicked.

  32. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Taylor is going to have to learn to be more subtle on his picks. Overtly dipping his shoulder like that will draw the flag every time.

  33. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Not sure how you tackle a WR with no call, and a brush by is offensive PI. Fuck the refs.

  34. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Zuerlein kicked 7 field goals today. Gould has a way to go. Lewis is awful. Where the hell did we get the idea that he was any good?

  35. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

The more games played the more clear the team’s needs are. Corners fer gawd’s sake and a good QB. Offensive linemen.

  36. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Fuck Rashard Robinson just can’t put a lid on a garbage can! Never turns around, beat constantly! Has the fucking size, but just no instincts!

  37. theroooster's avatar theroooster says:

    9-9, so exciting!

  38. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

GREAT move by Buckner that time. All of a sudden Dawson can’t miss.

  39. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Rashard Robinson is all mouth and no substance! Has to lead this team in Pass interference penalties and just stupid dumbass instincts! Never looks back for the ball, and when he fucking finally does he’s torched and penalized!! Fuck for his size he should have better skills then what he shows!!

  40. theroooster's avatar theroooster says:

Almost a Theisman moment for Hoyer there.

  41. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

    And here comes Beathart!!

  42. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

This might be Hoyer’s Wally Pipp moment. LOL

  43. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Jesus. Drive killing drops and penalties.

  44. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

DB is having a nice game. Armstead is nowhere to be found.

  45. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Drop drop drop. Penalty penalty penalty

  46. Hoyer is missing coverage left and right, lucky not have a pick six so far.

  47. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

We cannot cover backs out of the backfield. Ever.

  48. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Harold. 2 sacks in 4+ years.

  49. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

wow. Givin’ it all away . . .

  50. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fuck! 6 drops this game. Unbelievable.

  51. Palmer has absorbed a lot of abuse over the years because he’s so immobile, especially with Oakland

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Doesn’t seem to be slowing him down. He’s about to embark on the game winning drive.

  52. That ball to Robinson was batted away

  53. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

10 more penalties for 98 yards, including the rare flag on the kicking team. That’s all on the coaching.

  54. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Well lookie here, Dontae made a play.

  55. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Elvis is in the house! Finally!

  56. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

RaY RAY! 100 for Dumervil. The D is coming on.

  57. Pass rush saving the game. Remains to be seen if it’s enough to keep the secondary and the offense from fucking it up..

  58. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

The D is playing a game today,

  59. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Well, here it is, on a platter

  60. Taylor was so open on that play

  61. zumiee's avatar zumiee says:

Nice pass to the head coach. Nice catch,

  62. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Losing Goodwin his killed the passing game.

  63. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Inaccurate passing and drops have killed the passing game. They’ve left a lot on the field.

  64. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, that too, but Garcon can’t get open without Goodwin helping.

  65. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Throw the ball down the field, screens get you no where

  66. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Damn a pass caught and it got a first down!! 😱😱😱

  67. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Kilgore has been shit in this game.

  68. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

I have seen more fumble running it up the middle than interceptions!! Why do teams do this!!

  69. Shanahan had no intention of throwing it for a TD, can’t blame him much either

  70. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    WTF was that Hoyer.

  71. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Defense got a nice rest. End this damn game!

  72. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I don’t understand why we can’t cover a back out of the backfield. And they didn’t get that last play off before the 2 minute warning.

  73. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

They’re in that goddamn prevent defense.

  74. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, They get it I’m sure

  75. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Even when Rashard makes a play, he doesn’t.

  76. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    Pitch and catch. Easy money.

  77. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    hooooooboy. Need a sack here.

  78. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Doesn’t look good for the Niners!

  79. zumiee's avatar zumiee says:

Was that the prevent defense in action there during that drive?

  80. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Damn the Niners just can’t get a break! That was too close

  81. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

This is a joke. I love how there’s no replay of the PI.

  82. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Wow, finding exciting new ways to lose.

  83. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Oh well. I guess we just have to live with the fact that the refs decide just about every game that is close.

  84. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    Rashard again.

  85. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Once again though way too many penalties and drops. But the refs took away 4 total TDs.

  86. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Better than a tie. Still in the running for the Sam Darnold sweepstakes. The Niners left a ton of plays on the field today, not to mention 13 fucking penalties. Hoyer was awful. The receivers were awful. Shanny isn’t impressing so far, not like Sean McVay is. Way too many mistakes on both sides of the ball, suspect play calling.. The bright spot was the d-line.

  87. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Maybe it’s time to give Beathard a look.

  88. The D line was dropping 2 guys into coverage until about the 50 (and still couldn’t cover the backs), they should have just kept bringing the heat on Palmer… I wouldn’t jump on the Rams bandwagon yet. They barely beat SF and needed help from the refs to do that.

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

They played a good game today and dominated the second half on the road. They have flaws, but look to be tough.

  89. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Saleh’s dominating Shanahan right now if that means much. They better go all in on offense next draft!

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

You have to be kidding. Big time need at CB and a consistent edge rusher. More depth at LB is also needed. Losing Borland was a killer. QB and OL for sure.

  90. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Was Armstead injured? He was invisible all day. Thomas had his best game, Buckner was a beast and Ray-Ray had his best game. The line figures to keep improving and getting Foster back will be a boost. Those corners, though, fuck they suck.

  91. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Kilgore smoked some serious pole today. When your center sucks it’s hard for the rest of the line to gel.

  92. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49er says:

A pass rush takes heat off the Secondary. Our efforts were respectable overall, just not successful when it mattered most.
We’ve got to stop shooting ourselves in the face with stupid penalties and, of course, dropping the throws Hoyer does make.

Might have to rescind my prediction of the NYJ Picking #1 next year.
It’s looking like Cleveland hasn’t done much to release their grip on that position, while we attempt to give them a run for it.
But…What’s the story of the NYG hanging onto the same Oh-Fer record after 4 games too?
This League is just too damn ridiculous to predict anymore.

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

You’re right, but they had a pass rush today, especially in the second half, but the corners are so bad Saleh usually has them playing 8-10 yards off the ball. The pass rush isn’t going to get to the QB on every play. Sometimes the secondary has to make plays. Today they rarely did. Kat made a good point earlier. Robinson hardly ever turns on the ball. He’s always playing the man. That won’t work in the pros. Johnson may be a tick better, but not much. They have no business starting.

      • NJ49ER's avatar NJ49er says:

All good points Lurker John. We have yet to put it all together on either side of the ball.
Hyde had his bacon saved on 2 fumbles today as well.
A lot of our problems are self inflicted at the worst possible moments.
Personnel isn’t perfect, which is to be expected with a new regime.
Some pieces just have to do, until better options come into the fold.
Can’t lose to Indy next week, or this thing might just tank completely.

  93. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49er says:

I thought Shanny called a pretty good game today too.
They just didn’t click well enough to make it effective.
Too many self-inflicted wounds in big spots.
