Will this be the first win? AZ is usually a tough place to play, but we’ll see about this one. I think we can win this one but this is predicated on this defense getting pressure on Ichabod Palmer. I think AZ is well past their window of viability in being a strong contender in the playoffs, but we certainly aren’t there by any stretch.
Without David Johnson, AZ’s run game is not nearly the scary thing it was. And the worry in the air is of course Larry Fitzgerald. Which brings me back to the pressure, or lack thereof. If we don;t get pressure we don’t win.
Comparing us to the Rams is ludicrous. They have a shit-ton more talent and barely beat us. The Rams now are the 2011 Niners. They got out from under a shitty coach and now is flying high. Goff is boatloads better than Hoyer, and we are young and stupid. Rashard Robinson will likely be good down the road but he’s all over the place, but the defense as a whole is vastly better. I didn’t like the deep drop in OT on the firdt 2 plays because they gave up 35 yards to backs out of the backfield. Something the Rams killed us with. But that would be Foster territory and that looks to vastly improve soon.
The offense is looking worse than I thought, but there are times they look good. The drops have been absolute drive killers. As have all the penalties. Kilgore had a shit day. But the penalties like false starts and illegal motion are young team mistakes. I said 0-4 would be the dividing line for BeatHard, but I think 2 more games would be nice. Might as well keep the record intact for Darnold.
That being said, how have all those SC QBs worked out lately?
I’m leaning away from QB with Pick 1 next year Chuck.
Cousins can be ‘bought’ and, would vastly improve on Hoyer.
Beathard will be a year into his development as well next year.
I favor a strong Defensive addition in RD1.
Too early to know who that player is at this point however.
I’ll do my homework in due time.
Need a better Edge Rusher for sure.
IF there’s another Earl Thomas there, or a shutdown CB, I’d be fine there too.
OL needs to get younger too.
All TBD…..
Positives – ST play – Pinion’s 50+YD avg coupled with only 12 punt return YDs changed field position in a good way. Gould getting 5/5 FGs.
Negatives – Offense – 13/113 penalty YDs along with 5/19 3RD Down conversions.
Just good enough to lose. Again.
Offense has to spell the Defense or this Season will crash and burn.
What is fairly amazing is Reid and Foster are both out and the defense is still pretty good.
Pass rush is still lacking although it is getting a little better.
Good point. The D line is gettin’ after it. Who is Maggie? Is that another dude pretending to be a woman? Where do these fucking lunatics come from?
I can already see a potential departure next year of Hyde and Reid Chuck?
Just a gut feeling on my part but…..
We’ll see how Lynch and Shanny play the roster changes when the time comes.
Hard to predict who gets the upper hand between a Defensive GM and an Offensive HC.
I’d wait until the Draft entrees identify the strengths personally.
Who knows, Flav? I was thinking OSF as Sophrosyne… Nothing too crazy yet.
Reid needs to stay healthy. He’s fine. Actually same with Hyde.
Question becomes 2nd Contract costs IMO.
Can either stay healthy enough to warrant big pay days?
We’ll see…..?
I would put CJ in just to light a fire under Hoyer. The offense needs a spark. 5 field goals and couldn’t find the end zone, all those drops and fucking penalties, we deserved to lose that one. One thing we do have is fight we are just not that good at it yet. But I still think it’s gonna come.
Chuck- you are right about the fucking Ram’s. All those first rd picks they’ve been getting for years are finally paying off. Their roster is nothing like ours. I am glad they beat those fuckstick Cowboys.
We’ll get to congratulate Frank next week when he passes Dickerson on the career rushing list at least.
Something besides a first win for Shanny to look forward to in Indy.
That will be nice, Gore is one of my all time favorites. He was the 49ers offense.
New thread is up.
