3. SAN FRANCISCO49ERS
(from Bears)
Solomon Thomas, DE
Stanford
Thomas is going to make an immediate impact on the defensive line. Rule of Tree said his best comparison in the NFL is the Seattle Seahawks’ Michael Bennett, who can play multiple ways on the defensive line effectively.

Not a bad haul. And nary a knee injury among the group, although Reuben Foster is a bit of an injury risk. But if he’s playing to form, we got 2 of the top 3 players on a lot of draft boards in Salomon Thomas and Foster.
Beyond that, the Niners have two 2nd round picks and two 3rd round picks for a total of 10 picks again in 2018. So a good looking haul and a great looking job of moving around for picks next year.
These guys get an A for the first day only. Getting the guy they wanted and gaining 4 picks was an absolute steal. The rest is gravy. This looks to be a good start to the new front office.
I have a feeling that these new 49ers are the beginning of a new family atmosphere. No one really expects us to do much of anything this year except to play hard and learn. I think we are gonna surprise some people.
I hear we are getting Michigan OT Magnussen as an UDFA! We are also getting a QB I had my sights on from Southern Miss. I haven’t seen the QB but I read something about him a month ago I really liked.
Shit, Terrell was signed by the Ravens as a UDFA. Corey Davis’s QB.
UD Free agent signings
Cole Hikutini, TE, Louisville
Donavin Newsom, LB, Missouri
Victor Bolden, WR, Oregon State
K.D. Cannon, WR, Baylor
Lorenzo Jerome, S, Saint Francis
JP Flynn, OL, Montana State
Matt Breida, RB, Georgia Southern
Nick Mullens, QB, Southern Miss
Jimmie Gilbert, LB, Colorado
Erik Magnuson, OT, Michigan
Darrell Williams, OT, Western Kentucky
Jon Toth, C, Kentucky – per his agent
Kendrick Bourne, WR, Eastern Washington
OF note is Sou Miss’s QB Nick Mullens. Skinny kid who can make throws. 6’1″ 187 lb. Doubtful but worth a shot. Joe part II? Hey! Speaking of Joe, a Dwight Clark sighting at the Giants game.
I watched Mullens game vs Texas St. He looked really good for an UDFA.
We got some QB’s now, let the completion begin. We also got some running backs, I never heard of em but that doesn’t mean anything. So far there is not much about this team that looks the same.
I like it, 3 UDFA O-lineman to get the competition going.
2 UDFAs that I like, at least on stats are, S Lo Jerome and WR KD Cannon.
Both guys are a bit undersized but, in both cases, were pretty productive in College.

Also had LB Jimmie Gilbert on my wish list as a potential conversion prospect –
Tall enough to add some meat to his bones, which he needs in spades IMO.

All in all, roll of the dice and see what develops with all of them.
JP Flynn doesn’t look too shabby either. Gets on the move pretty well.
Puts guys on the ground too.
Looks like Magnuson worked on the Right side at both RG/RT
A friend from high school is mighty happy today, his nephew Victor Bolden just signed with the 49ers! He’d been talking him up all this last college season.
Got to like this . . .
Absolutely. That attitude and a great camp just might earn him a roster spot.
Well after all the chest pumping and the bright lights and the mugging and hugging in front of the cameras the only thing we know for sure there will be massive changes to the Niner roster next season. A lot of guys from last seasons 2 win effort have walked the plank off the ship and more will do so. Will the new guys we worth anything? Only time will tell.
It is hard to believe we won’t have one the best D-lines n the NFL. John Lynch said again yesterday they will be used to attack instead of two gapping. It was so weird last year knowing we drafted very athletic linemen and then the coach tells them to hold the point for a bunch of 2nd string linebackers. The defense should create a lot of turnovers this year if the line does its job well.
Gotta love the DL depth Shana-Lynch have amassed for camp. There’s going to be some serious competition for those spots. That video I posted yesterday really gives an insight into the approach those two are taking with this thing. All business and everything will be earned, no sentiment or false loyalties. It should be a fun camp to follow.
Lynch might be in the right place at the right time regarding the Trade Bonanza that occurred this weekend –

Our draft chart has been formulated by your buddy Paraage Marathe. Lynch talked about it.
The Money-Baller extraordinaire.
Work the Contracts and budgets. Otherwise, be invisible.
And….take Tweeter with you.
The chart, sure, but not the players in it. He’s a fucking wiz with Excel.
Bergs, the defense last year was laughable. I thought we were better than we played, and there were stretches that we did play OK. But the linebackers were nowhere to be found on any given play. Some of that was the lack of OLBs that were getting behind the line, and the pass rush was non-existent. But the main part was losing in the trenches. Our ILBs were regularly getting obliterated on the 2nd level. I wasn’t too thrilled with the O’Neill hire, but I didn’t really know bupkis about him other than he ran a 3-4 and we were already doing that.
Guess there’s some room to thank Jeff Fisher for netting us some extra Picks?

I don’t think Fisher had anything to do with the Bears trading up, but he’ll certainly fuck the guy up should he try to coach him up. More power to him!
This is what I like to see…
