Ruuummmmooorrrrzzzzz . . . . . .

Shit, i got nothin. No one has anything. The draft is 23 days away, and the free agent spigot has been shut off. Reading the blogosphere, we are getting a QB, getting a WR, getting a DE, getting a safety or trading down.

Got it. Even the Browns are supposedly thinking about taking Mitch Trubisky (PLEEEEASE!!!!) and thus cementing their standing as the dumbest franchise on the face of the Earth yet again. Hello Tim Couch.

Yeah, I’ve been all over the place as well. It’s hard to nail down a thought when there are so many needs and so many variables. The biggest being what the Browns do. If they somehow pass on Myles Garrett, I’d think our decision would be to take him. Pass rush is a huge need, and I’ve said all along that the defensive line is decent enough, but lacks a disruptor. If the Browns do what’s expected and take Garrett, the pool becomes instantly muddy.

As noted, we could do any one of those things above (ie, pick: WR Corey Davis or Mike Williams; QB Falsebisky or Watson; DE Thomas or Allen; S Hooker or Adams; trade down for more picks)  or do something different.

I mean, ALL these mock drafts are varying shades of crocks-of-shit because once you get past the first 6 picks and EVERYONE is wrong about EVERYTHING. Not a knock on anyone (well, except for Mel Kiper, the helmet-headed douchebag), it’s just that there are too many variables involved, and nothing goes as planned.

That being said, every one of those picks noted above make sense in some way, shape or form. The team has many many needs. Seeing as there ARE so many needs, I’d like to see us trade down. A ballsy move for a rookie GM/HC pair, but I think Lynch and Shanahan both get that the team needs a lot of high picks to rebuild the roster.

Yeah, these 23 fracking days can’t go by soon enough. 90% of the mock dickwads say we are taking Torres. I hope they are wrong.

  2. unca_chuck says:

Who the hell is Torres? Trubinsky? This isn’t the draft for QBs.

  3. Flavor says:

    This guy is impressive

  4. Berger says:

    Falsebisky? LOL!

Kizer makes my list too – He’s a reminder to me of Cam Newton, in terms of size/arm strength.
Biggest concern for me is, how much information he can process at the Pro level.
He’s seemed to be patient enough in College, to the point that I wondered if he was just waiting for the play call to be executed. Almost too calm. Good that he didn’t get happy feet, bad that he thought he had all day, ala RG III.
By comparison, I thought more of Watson as a play-maker but, he reminds me too much of Kaep.
    I’m thinking Webb/Mahomes/Liufau.
Trubiski won’t make my list because I’m thinking I’ll jinx myself. I don’t want him in RD1, unless we Trade down and, use a free Pick on him.
    C’mon TN….

I’m still a proponent of WR Corey Davis early – His College QB Zach Terrell late.
PJ Fleck ran a pretty decent Offense at WMU. They have good chemistry of course.

To date, here’s a list of Private workouts we’ve apparently conducted –

Jonathan Calvin, DE, Mississippi State (PRI)
      Dion Dawkins, OT, Temple (PRI)
      Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama (PRI)
Myles Garrett, DE/3-4OLB, Texas A&M (PRI)
Nico Siragusa, G, San Diego State (PRI)
Mitch Trubisky^, QB, North Carolina (COM, PRI)
Deshaun Watson^, QB, Clemson (WOR, PRI)

WOR – Private Workout. Members of an organization working out a player in private.
      COM – Combine meeting.

      • NJ49er says:

OG Nico Siragusa didn’t impress me in Indy.
        Ran like he was carrying a piano. (6’4″/319) (5.36/40 – 1.83 Split/28 Reps)
        I’m more impressed with –
        Aviante Collins OT TCU 6’4″/295 (OG/OC?) (4.8/40 – 1.69 Split/34 Reps)

He’s a guy that seems to fit the ZBS IMO.

  6. Flavor says:

Fournette weighed in at 228 at his pro day, down 12 pounds from combine. That’s a red flag for me. Dropping the weight just to get drafted higher is like Pablo Sandoval dropping the weight each year before his next contract…..

    • Nipper says:

Pablo should get a job on the Food Network. That’s one job he could really get behind!

  7. unca_chuck says:

Yeah if we do draft a QB I think terrelle isn’t a bad option. He’s the next Tom Brady.

Fournette? I’d take him in the 3rd but he won’t be there.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Just don’t think we need an RB in the 2nd round. Fournette might not even make it to the 2nd round

  9. Winder says:

I doubt any of the top 3 rb’s make it to the second rd. It’s a passing league but to make it work you need rb’s. At this point I really don’t give a shit who we take as long as they end up being good players.
Nip- I would watch food network if Pablo was on it. It would be a great fit.

  10. unca_chuck says:

If Pablo hits he’ll get another contract. Fournette is a million miles away from Pablo. It’s not like Fournette is Eddie Lacy and trying to play RB at 280. he’s just showing that he can paly at a lighter weight if need be.

  11. Nipper says:

I hope the Niners don’t draft a QB. The failure rate for them is too high. Most of these college guys just are not very productive especially the first year in the league.

  12. rob says:

just saw an article “49ers draft needs ” CB QB etc. LOL how about pass rusher and WR you dumb …
my question is who gets paid to write this shitt

  13. unca_chuck says:

At this rate I should be!

I mean, it isn’t rocket surgery what our needs are.

  14. unca_chuck says:

I really hope Cleve goes for Falsebiscuit and leaves Garrett for us.
