First off congrats to Connor Gillaspie and the San Francisco Giants in their quest for 4 in 7. Madison Bumgarner is a man among midgets when it comes to postseason baseball.
Wish the 49ers had a QB to match him in fortitude and demeanor. As it is, we have another game that we can conceivably win as the hands of a vasty overhyped Cardinal team that has staggered off to a 1-3 start. Yeah, our division has a tough schedule. Tough shit. I ain’t holding my breath. We seem to be the enablers that teams like AZ (and Seattle before them) get healthy on. Throw in the devastating injury to NaVorro Bowman, our NT position is failing miserably, and Buckner is out as well, so AZ will likely run amok. And by that I mean run.
We could possibly outscore them, but that would mean getting 4 quarters from our quarterback. Something that hasn’t happened yet. We had the game in hand last week, and we even looked like we had a shot to retake the lead in the 4th quarter with great field position. But Gabby missed a wide open Torrey Smith and there went the game.
Tonight? What the fuck. In honor of the Giants, we win 3-0.

I don’t think Gabbert is the answer but he isn’t the problem. The problem is Chip. His running game is read and react, not down hill. His defense is read and react, not aggressive. His coaching style is not to dictate but to read and react. When an coach coaches passively the players do not instinctively run to the play, they read and react.
Chip is a college coach. He should go back to college where he found great success. He will not find it with the Niners.
Well, we are scoring more than the last few years. Whether in garbage time or not can be debated. We’ve once again tilted the blocking to favor the passing game. Hyde is good at waiting for his blocking to develop, but more often than not, it doesn’t.
Gabbert is wildly inconsistent though. He’s missing and not seeing open guys. The knock on Kaepernick, but he’s getting a shitload more time than Kappy ever did to get the ball out, yet isn’t finding the right guys to throw to.
Reading and reacting is the QBs job. Gabbert’s doing a shitty job of it. This is his last game if he fucks up. Ponder ot Kappy? I don;t care. One more loss and this is a lost season anyway, so start with the QB carousel. Kappy or Ponder can be the placeholder when we draft a QB next season.
Sticking with Gabbert is a fool’s errand.
Spitty and NoFear are pretty entertaining in the playpen.
