Well, the fun that has transpired since the last game has become stupidly overblown and regurgitated by the media ad infinitum. Blah blah blah. Even the pundits think is is a publicity stunt. Bullshit. All this is about is Kaepernick wants off the 49ers. Whether he gets hired again, now or next season, is beside the point. He wants out and this is yet another means to an end. His play was shitty enough the other day, but before his misguided attempt at whatever the hell his stand is, I was willing to let hm play in the next preseason game to see if he got better. Well, you torched that bridge.
As an aside, Colin, spend some time in the Tenderloin, or the Oakland projects, or at any number of homeless shelters and donate time and money to the people there trying to make a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged and the disenfranchised. Not standing during the National Anthem makes you look out of touch with the people who defend the flag and what it stands for. In other words, your stance is more petulant and childish than anything else.
Nut up or shut up. You are on company time when you make your stand. You should honor that, and the fact they are PAYING you $12 million to play a game. But I think that is the point entirely. Forcing the team to cut your ass.
And yes, the bigger immediate problem that this brouhaha causes is to further divide the locker room regarding Kappy. I’m absolutely sure that he’s using this to force the team to cut him. As I said, he’ll get this Thursday game, and then adios.
Funny thing is, I wonder what will happen with Russell Wilson if Seattle has a bad/middling season. All these darlings of the NFL a couple years ago are hitting on hard times.
On KNBR this morning they commented that the rumor is Kap is going to be cut, this would be great IMO, Gabbert would get to relax and not worry about making mistakes, which should help the team.
Looks inevitable, just a matter of when. My guess is around the 4th game of the season if they have no takers before then.
I say he gets cut but the last round of cuts. He’s only still here and going to play on Thursday to make it look good, that it was a football decision. I’m already considering not watching if he is on the team. How many fans can the 49ers afford to alienate over Kap?
Ticket prices are slumping already.
Should be interesting to see the crowd reaction to Kap in San Diego. I’ve been to that pre-season game most years and its not a friendly crowd. San Diego being a military town should add a little something to it.
Like John said, we have defended Kap from the get go, this was my Arnhem.
Kap is allowed to have his opinion but I am allowed to have mine too. I do not back him and am even questioning whether to back my team if he is still here for game 1. I feel strong support for that flag, he disrespected it. My feeling is fuck Kap, Let him go do his radical Islamic BLM bullshit where I don’t have to see it. The team is already beginning to polarize and the fan base is too. Fuck the motherfucker.
I’m not letting some grandstanding “activist” stop me from supporting my team. Fuck that guy.
Harbaugh doesn’t agree with Kap either, intimates its not a stand on principle.:

I guess the FO wants to make sure it’s PC before giving him the axe. Everyday they wait gives him another shot at injury. I wouldn’t play him again for any reason. Anyway, we can probably pick up Sanchise for a song pretty soon.
I just had to do it. My favorite cowboy song
RIP Gene.
Funny guy, that’s a loss.
Good fun.
Yeah, that’s too bad. He’s one of the funniest guys out there. Course he had the great Mel Brooks writing for him.
If you’ve never seen it, try to catch the movie “My Favorite Summer”. It’s basically a true story of Mel Brooks in his youth as a writer for Sid Caesar on his #1 rated TV show “Your Show of Shows” in the early ’50s. Brooks got the unenviable task of keeping the great, great, Errol Flynn (who’d sunk into the bottle which killed him, played by Peter O’Toole) sober for the week prior to his guest appearance on Sid’s show.
It’s not a great flick but it definitely has its funny moments and IMO is worth watching. It gives an insight into Brooks’ background as a writer and his weird sense of humor.
Aaaack!!! “My Favorite Year” 1982.
Yeah, I thought as well that Kaepernick was serious about football, and that he’d take this opportunity to better his game. But no, he shits on the organization (somewhat deservedly so) and grandstands in the most irrelevant way possible. Apparently he’s no better than the Kardashians. Oh well. Sayonara, motherfucker.
Can’t say I’m jazzed about this development, but if Kappy thinks he’s going to get any sympathy following his release, he’s crazy. He hasn’t shown anything on the field to warrant any respect.
Gabbert, Ponder and Driskell, oh my . . .
Yup.
At this point, the sooner the better. I’d let him flail during the SD game, then cut him.
I’m genuinely interested how hard his teammates play around him.
If at all. This reminds me of The Longest Yard when the line just lets everyone through to pound on Krewe.
Yeah I had the same visual.
Back to our normal scheduled program, Andy Lee traded:
Man, how often do you see a punter get chewed out in public.
Maybe the Niners and the Broncos do a QB deal after all:
No, no, and no. If y’all are so intent on getting rid of Kap after 1 post-surgery qtr. then go for it. Trade him for a package of dog biscuits. Better than Sanchez. Sanchez is a fill-in backup for a good team. He’d be worth than useless on the Niners.
*worse than useless
It was tongue in cheek RT, a play on the “Kap to Denver” episode. I wouldn’t take Butt Fumble if he was free.
Kap has become Tebow. Meaning the distraction far outweighs the benefit.
Jim Harbaugh commented on the situation by saying, “I acknowledge his right to do that, but I don’t respect the motivation or the action.”
Way to go, Jimbo. Way to understand the struggles your players go through.
No one is going to trade for Kappy. Even for Mr. Butt Fumble. Both will likely be out of football in 2 weeks.
Of course after the backlash, Jim walked those comments back . . . :
I apologize for misspeaking my true sentiments. To clarify, I support Colin’s motivation. It’s his method of action that I take exception to
Since 2012, the 49ers have gotten one NFL start out of eight ACL draft selections. Doesn’t look like a great success to me.
Who are the 8?
Would have to research it. They have had some contributors but only 1 start. Fairly damning.
Off hand I got Lattimore, Trey Williams, Can Johnson, Tank, and Brandon Thomas.
Acker or Reaser I think?
You’re selling this issue pretty hard. I’m not buying yet. I’ve liked to results so far but I’m willing to listen in case you present something good.
What results Berger? So far its been close to abject failure. Tank looks promising but we have yet to see.
Dial looks good and it looks like we just got a WR for Thomas who might contribute. Redmond played this last week and looked good. He took a chance on a RT who dropped because he was 400 lbs. His name is Trent Brown, that looks good. Players who you don’t take chances on fizzle for various reason. Glen Coffee and Borland just quit. Aldon Smith boneheaded his way out. I’m not saying he should do it, I’m just saying I don’t have a problem with it.
the only thing I’d question about you’re “he’s doing it to get out theory” is that he’s not exactly endearing himself to any other team. Who would sign this guy if he’s just going to be a huge distraction AND he sucks?
He may have killed his career, depends on how contrite he is going to be.
Condemnations keep coming, his college coach Ault:
Yeah, now the Chief of the San Francisco Police Officers Association chimed in, too. Jay, zus, where were all these people when the Ray Rice videos came out? Who did Kappy shoot? Where did he incite anyone to shoot? Get a life, Chief!
