The Packers have winged their way to the city by the Bay. San Jose, that is. No word on who’s starting tonight, but I’d think Colin Kaepernick would be. If only to give him fresh time with the ones. I guess we’ll find out soon enough but it would be cool to see Kaepernick continue his ownership of of the Cheeseheads. He had his best passing game as a pro way back in 2013 opening day when he threw 27-39 for 412 yards, 3 TDs, and a fairly astounding 10.5 yards per attempt. This of course was Colin’s last best season as he threw for 3200 yards, 21 TDs to 8 picks, and got one play from his 2nd consecutive Super Bowl.
We of course beat them in the 1st round of the playoffs as CK had a more pedestrian outing that night, going 16-30 and 227 yards, and 1 TD, 1 pick. Of course, that was Ice Bowl 2 as the wind chill was 50 below. Even the year before, Kappy had what was an amazing playoff game passing and running. Throwing for 17-31, 263, 2,1, and an NFL record 181 yards rushing for a total of 444 yards.
Can he find the magik again? Let’s hope so. The season may depend on it.
A football team is a business whether fans like it or not. In business it makes no sense to polarize your employees or customers. Kap is allowed to have his own opinions but if he wants to be a leader he needs to lead the entire team, not half the team. With his stance he is polarizing the team and fans. As a business it just makes sense to cut him.
What Kap has done is take the decision to keep him out of Chip’s hands and into the business decision makers hands. IMO, the FO should step up and take control. He has to be gone.
Maybe he has real convictions he feels compelled to stand for, or maybe he found another way to get traded or cut. Either way, fuck that guy.
If he is trying to get cut he is not in the upper 50% of the gene pool when it comes to intelligence. What other team is going to sign a player who will polarize the fan base?
I think he knows he will not be the starter and has lost his love of the game. he knows he is going to get paid and is going out with a bang. It is an act of selfishness.
I hope the team cuts him for “acts detrimental to the team’ and does not pay him. He might win in court but make him go to court for his money.
Whatever his motives Berger, fuck that guy. You want to make a political statement, no problem, but don’t disrespect everything good this country stands for for the narrow issues, however important they may be, that are bad. He spat on all of us.
My football team will never trump my country. He is (was) the face of the organization and has responsibilities to them, his teammates, the fan base, the NFL as a whole and to American society as a whole. This transcends football.
If a bad cop shooting someone of color means more to him than all of that, see ya.
Yep!
That’s a good idea, Berger. It may be the only way they can get rid of him without being on the hook for millions of dollars.
Like Berger already said John, the lawsuit likely won’t hold up since apparently the NFL, unlike the NBA, has no policy governing it. Still, either way, don’t make it easy is fine with me.
The funniest thing is the Niners are now one hard-hit-on-Gabbert-away from having Jeff Driskel as their starting QB.
The USS 49er has now left port laughingstock and is full steam ahead to Mookville.
Let me Ponder that!
Ponder fell back to earth yesterday.
No worries. We’ll just change headings SSE to Palookaville.
Nothing like having your starting QB not in the league last year straight from Home Depot.
I don’t want to consider it, but I would start Driskol over Ponder and eat the lost learning curve season.
It’s going to be a long, long, season. It makes my head hurt.
This pondering is painful.
“Kap’s ass is only half black so shouldn’t he have at least crouched during the anthem?”
Dennis, this is actually really funny, but you may want to consider giving up the sauce. It’s football, dude, not life. Fans supporting the QB’s we do have are simply trying to get excited about the new season. There’s going to be some hard times coming up, but there are reasons to be positive about things moving forward, whether you think so or not.
The OL will be better. That’s not conjecture, that’s fact. Not only better, but possibly leaps and bounds better. And since last year’s offensive woes can be linked, in large part, to one of the shittiest lines in league history, the O, by extension, could be leaps and bounds better as well.
There’s a lot of young talent here. Until such time as they give me reason not to, I’m going to pull for the Niners to show me reasons to be hopeful in the future.
I’m pulling for them win or lose. Been through the leanest of times and the best of times with this team. As you say, fans of all teams hope in pre-season, some delusionally (maybe us) but that’s why we are fans right?
I have always supported the QB, whoever it is, doesn’t mean without criticism.
I agree with you, the lines are much improved but likely need a few games to figure it out and the DB’s are solid. ILB not settled.
On O the TE position looks better now they are in space, WR are certainly a question, RB is a strength but the big question is can Hyde stay healthy (concussion).
The glaring area is QB. Gabbert is a place holder, Driskol is unknown and raw and Ponder the same. Kap is done.
The team can still do well even with Gabbert IMO.
I gotta laugh at myself for waiting all this time just to see what Kappy would bring to the table. I really don’t like buckets of shit and that is exactly what it was. SeeYa moron
Cheer up Winder, we all love you!
Like the Dodgers were better without Puig, at this point, the 49ers will be better without Kap.
I said it last night and I’ll repeat it now, Gabbert reminds of Alex Smith with a better arm. I liked Smith so I like the analogy.
This team is going to be just fine. I don’t know the time table but I do know the direction and that is up. I like the O-line and the funny thing about Gabbert is he was a gambler with loose mechanics in college, which is why I did not want him, but now he is much better mechanically and has turned into a game manager. If the defense is good we will win with Gabbert. The question is will defense be good. I thought so until last night. That is the big variable for me.
by the way Chuck, I think it’s fucking weird as shit that Denny is up above basically threatening to kill people associated with the NIners and he’s still allowed to post here. Just my 2 cents. Dude should get a visit from the FBI in my opinion…..
he’s the wizard of Oz behind the curtain. Relax Flavor, Dennis is harmless.
I would be surprised if Armstrong is not the starting ILB next to Bowman. The kid was a bright spot all pre-season.
He’s got some wheels on him. ILB is a question mark but also a potential strength, with Harold coming on, Armstrong, Brooks, Bow, Rush, etc. Like 12th said above, it’ll take a few games, or more, for things to gel, but things look to be headed in the right direction.
Excuse me, in my “There Will Be Blood” comment, there was no reference as to who’s blood would be spilt. Very well may have been mine to which I was referring.
FBI? Now that is funny.
*whose I was still laughing over that FBI comment.
bullshit. Don’t play stupid ass word games. You’re a fucking liar in addition to being a psychopath.
Lol
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/tony-romo-mri-reveals-broken-bone-in-back-out-6-10-weeks/
This team would still win more games with Tony Romo missing 6-10 weeks then it would with a full complement of this horseshit QBs now stored in our stable.
Lucky Jerruh didn’t bury the franchise into a ton of money for an aging QB with brittle bone syndrome….Oops
If it’s any consolation, Jay Cutler looks like a tub of shit.
I’m concerned about Hyde. Ellington looked pretty good till he got hurt. We lose what weapons we got, we are in trouble. More than we are anyway.
As far as Kappy goes, this is about the stupidest protest imaginable. He’s acting like he wants to be cut.
Tony Romo is the definition of snake bit.
Yeah, just heard that. Dallas may be better for it though.
BLEEP Dallas!
New thread is up.
