Anyhow, here’s the unofficial roster of your San Francisclara 49ers.

11 WRs? 6 TEs? Yeah, there will be some paring soon.

Texans have their #1 WR, Jalen Strong, in the game deep into the 2nd half. He was instrumental in the TD drive.

#44 Marcus Rush getting any work?

  3. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Lemoneir just had a great series! LOL!

  4. Berger's avatar Berger says:

It looks like with Lewis at QB the coaches were trying to identify a couple of WRs. With Driscoll they put in the 3rd team line and the play calling has changed to identify a couple of linemen.

  5. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Marcus rush just forced the QB to step up into a Skov sack. Nice job by both.

  6. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Rush was so busy forcing his defender inside he didn’t secure the edge, so what does he do to make up for the error, he turns and commits a face mask. At least he was being physical.

  7. Berger's avatar Berger says:

NJ- Your #62 is not a pass rusher. He looks like he might be a good plugger.

  8. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Driskel was a major let down. Maybe just jitters but he looked bad.

It’s over. IMO the players of the game is an easy call, The O and D lines. Very impressive. If this continues going forward we will be a good team.

The QB competition was won by Kap by not playing. We should have done better but the QB play and two fumbles hurt us. I’m not worried about the QB play at this point. Gabbert will look better. He was even looking better as he got another series.

Our DBs looked great against Osweiler but not as great against Savage. I will say Savage made some nice throws under pressure.

All in all I think this showing by the trenches is a major positive.

Game 1 of the PS. Who cares?
It’s a monotony buster from TC.
New system, new players to evaluate etc.
All that matters is progress in the next 3 weeks for me.
Safe to assume we got through it healthy?

Have to guess Tom Rathman is none too happy with 2 fumbles from his RBs tonight.
Gonna be some extra attention placed on ball security this week.

They were saying that there isn’t tackling in practice so it is probably to be expected. What I don’t understand is why there is no tackling in practice? I would actually like to know more info about this no tackling. It sounds like a bad idea? But we did do a good job of tackling, so maybe it is OK?

    In conclusion it was “practice.”

Well, this was another boring game, first two series where fun to watch, after that because Kap could not play we got to see a lot, and I mean a lot of the 3rd and 4th string QB’s. Davis was not to bad after he settled down, but the 4th string dude…god help us if it goes that far.

  13. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

The NFL should just get rid of the preseason games! I as a fan would not miss them.

First game jitters? Driskel looked terrible. Then again, no one looked very good at QB. The line was worlds better blocking.

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I don;t know if it is in the CBA, but practices have gotten a lot less contact-related. No 2-a-days either.

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

The only way they get rid of preseason games is to alter the playoff format. There can be no way that they change to an 18 game season.

IOW add 2 more WC teams.

  18. Berger's avatar Berger says:

We are flying in early to Denver for some joint practices. I’m guessing since pot is legal in Colorado they need to practice rolling joints!

  19. Nipper's avatar Nipper says:

Kap looked good just staying on the sidelines. If he can’t beat out Gabbert, he should retire. The other QB’s are chopped liver. These games are a good practice at best……a work in progress. Lots of mistakes were made but for a first pre-season game not bad.

  20. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

So this is what I think is going to go down, Kap does not see any preseason games, he goes on IR so that Gabbert starts and no QB controversy, then if Gabbert does not do well Kap comes off IR and walla, still no QB controversy!
