I see this Season starting with lots of motion and ground attack.
Our OL is going to take time to adjust to the new system, however, a WCO should help them once Alex and the WRs get into the necessary rhythm.
Game 1, lots of Gore and Hunter, 9ers win a close one. I do expect Harbaugh to take some deep shots though, VD and Braylon will be a nice duo.

Last year I read some blog experts railing on Armstead because he lacked some stats. When I watched him he was blowing shit up all over the place. It got to the point where he was the being double teamed. But dumb asses were railing on stats. Sometimes I just hate the fucking blog.

Fangio’s last year here was not so good for his D. Some will point out some stats, stats were good but could not get off the field on third down. The pass rush was not good. His D was better before that year. Maybe that year was just a presage of what was to come. Point is I would like to see a D similar to Fangio’s, which means simple, but more aggressive going after the QB. We have to get off the field on third down.
Agree. Pass rush was the difference maker. No Aldon Smith and a less effective and injured Justin Smith.
Too early to tell but Armstead, Buckner, Tank, Lynch when he returns and Dial too all appear to have some solid pass rush skills at least in camp. High hopes that Armstead and Buckner form a partnership like the Smiths did.
Ronald Blair, who we drafted in the 5th round, is a one gapping pass rusher. He will probably get some playing time on obvious passing downs. At about 275 lbs I would think he will be moved inside and outside. His coach is already talking about it.
I just saw that interview. Interesting insights O’Neil gives. Freeney plays right around that weight.
One worry I have is that the DC, O’Neal likes to use his LB in coverage matches, sometimes on WR. I would rather see Tart in the twiner role.
It is probably why Tartt is playing some LB.
Some things I would like to see on Sunday: Can the offense get into a rhythm, can we run the ball, how does the D-line look, how does Tank look at OLB, can Lemonier stop a running play for once in his career, will Eli Harold play with more leverage and stop getting juked so often, who is playing NT, can we get off the field on defense. A few big plays against us will not make me worry at this point in the season but a combo of that and not stopping 3rd downs will be difficult to watch.
We had a guy in camp last year named Marcus Rush at OLB. He looked much better than Harold or Lemoneir but got sent to the practice squad. He was far more physical than both last year. I wonder how he will do this year?
I’m not paying much attention to the QB position as I will next week or maybe when we name a starter. Right now I think it is Gabbert’s to lose which means Kap is going to really need to shine. I’ll be rooting for both QBs to look good. I really want to see this Driscoll kid. I’ve read nothing but good things about him.
Problem is the first two games are mostly scrubs. It will be interesting to see if we have some continuity especially with the running game and TE’s. But at this point even that really isn’t telling for the most part.
Since this is a new coaching staff and there’s so little real practice time I think these games will be more than just a couple series for the 1’s.
Well, I think both QBs will get a pretty good long look. on Sunday. Which means the first team o line will get a good amount of reps as well. I just want to see the O line block. and the D line stop the run.
Pass rush comes a little later. As will hope3fully the pass defense. Offense? Week 3 will be the big one, Just some Goddamn continuity on both sides.
I figure they will play the QB’s and O line longer than normal too.
I have the same problem every year with Baalky’s drafts at first glance they look decent with a lot of upside moving forward. But the fact is they have been terrible overall. Last year we can put blame on the coaching and the fiasco that is our FO. But the players still have to show up on gameday. Far as I’m concerned Baalky ran out of rope last year. The one thing that feels a little different this year is the way the coaching staff has conducted their business. Maybe, some good coaching is all some of em need.
I think Baalke is doing OK. But I do respect your opinion. We’ve had some turmoil with our roster getting old and needing a purge. We also had a coach orchestrate his way out of here and do some scorched earth on exit. We’ve gone from an old roster to a young roster and last year’s coaching was not good. If you are right we are going to be down for a while. I just don’t see it that way. I like what is going on with the O and D lines and that is where a rebuilding must start, IMO.
Last years O line was so bad no conclusions can be drawn except to say the OC was no help either.
The last 2 drafts are still up for debate. Even 2014. The disappointment has been little help to the offense. Hyde looks like the real deal, but he can’t stay on the field. On paper this last draft looks good but these things take time.
Last year was a complete disaster. From coaching to defections to retirements to the front office shenanigans every phase of the team was dogshit. Is Kelly the answer? The hope is he learned from past mistakes.
I like how the defense seems to be shaping up as we have a lot of talent there. Much like the 2010 team that was the beneficiary of some bad coaching, the defense at least looks like it could be in the top 1/3 anyway.
The play pen is all about hand-wrining over things that happened 20 years ago. Much like Buwwitt’s game of posting 5 year old shit to call people out, he seem to forget the salary cap hell that Policy/DeBartolo put the team in before the extended faceplant. Fucking retarded.
As with Harbaugh, a good coach can overcome a dysfunctional front office. But you need players. Without players, even Vince Lombardi looks mediocre. See the 1969 Redskins.
